Tom Brady: an honest take

Some terrible drops today though. Don't get me wrong brady was bad. Receivers were worse

Brady is at a place in his career where he needs talent at WR. When I say talent, im referring to Pro Bowl /cusp HOF players who go and on sheer ability win their battles. Like AB.

The Pats dont have that this season and were lucky to get by last season with the group that they managed to cobble together. Gordon was a huge mid season acquisition. Beat up Gronk was still a playmaker here and there.

What the hell happened to Edelman today?

I think our defense and old school running game caught fire at just the right time last year and that's why we won the SB. I think Jimmy would have won it too, plus we'd have a franchise QB for the next decade in Foxboro.
Jimmy's TD/INT this season is 27/13 while Brady's is 22/7. I'd give the edge to Jimmy this year but it isn't like we let a Mahomes (25-4) or Wilson (29/5) wander away.

He's injured, his receivers are good not great, and the offensive line struggled this season.

Give Brady a better offensive line he will put up numbers like he did 10 years ago.

11-5 in 2008
3-1 in 2016

Yeah just horrible.

Get a clue.

Guess what...

The year before with the same cast... 18-1!

2007 QB "R" - 117.2
2008 QB "R" - 89.4

TB12 2019 - 88.0 - 42yr old QB, injured, with the worst cast that he ever had. 12-4!

You people do know the difference between QBR and QB rating? QBR the best you can do is 100 while the rating system the best you can do is 158.3.

If Brady didn’t dye his hair medium brown #7, he’d look as old and ragged as his stats.

I don't go by any of those. I prefer using the Madden rating.

He's been garbage all year. Lack of talent around doesn't help. Our tight ends are terrible

I was using his rating in the OP, but if we look at QBR, it looks very grim. 53.1 which is by far his worst since QBR was introduced. So I didn't want to be accused of cherry picking. But yeah, if we go by actual QBR, he should have been benched already. My apologies for the confusion.

Even with a loss next Sunday, he could still go out now as a successful QB with a successful team. Can't win it all every year.

You guys sound like the season is over. If other qbs can lead their wildcard team to a championship then what’s to say we can’t do it either. This game today was a whole team loss, it’s not just Brady. If we somehow get bounced out so too does 30 other teams. Brady’s arm had zip this season, throws were just off and if that’s due to injury or talent around him, well that can be remedied. I see him playing again next year and if we don’t win the championship i see him more motivated than ever. He won’t miss training again.

I haven't checked. Are there any QBs with a 53.1 QBR and an injured throwing arm in the playoffs this year besides Brady?

It doesn't really matter if Brady is there next year or not, the Patriots won't be good at all.

Thus it would be smart to move on.

They are old and have won a lot. Fatigue is setting in.

Who would Brady even throw to next year? 34 year old Edelman and a bunch of 1st or 2nd year players?

Whole OL might be a mess.

No TE.

RBs are average, Burkhead and White getting old for a RB.

Brady would again have a much declining production, probably 2015 Peyton like.

It would be smart for him to retire and not get exposed as a washed up QB and for the Patriots to start rebuilding and grab a top notch QB in 2021 and in 2020 to pay Thuney etc, play younger players and see if Stidham is a good backup in the future or even trade material.

Funny, people said the exact same thing in 2009.

You can re-phrase this questions as:

"I haven't checked. Are there any QBs with 6 superbowl rings and an injured throwing arm in the playoffs this year besides Brady?"

Not with this set of TEs/WRs. Patriots needed every edge. Today, they fell flat on their faces.
Phins focus on Julian (plus he is hurt), game over.

The Defense wasn't very good today either.

Patriots won't make it deep into the playoffs. That's for sure....

I’m sick of everyone blaming Brady. If only the front office got him some 13-foot tall receivers they might’ve caught some of those balls.

We don't need them to be 13 feet. Just 7 feet 3, like Devaunte Parker.
