Mohamed Sanu Appreciation Thread

He can have a good game here and there and maybe make a great catch every once in a while but if he is not more consistent and productive he’ll eventually be let go.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the offseason.

I didn't want Sanu when he was a FA coming out of Cincinnati.

Me neither, I actually didn't understand how he got the contract he got. In fact, I think you and I are going to agre-

He has always been a less talented clone of Brandon Lefail.

HOLY MOLY THIS TAKE IS INSANE WTF

Let's see.

Brandon LeFell had a 962 yard season with 7 TDs while being the #2 wr in NE, and his first year in Cin replacing Sanu, he had 862 yards with 6 TDs

Sanu's best year with Cin was 790 yards with 5 TDs. He has never had more than 5 TDs in a season. The most yards in a season is 820.

And before you bring up QB play, QB play never hurt AJ Green or Julio Jones from having HOF careers. Plus Lafell had a better year than Sanu with the exact same QB in Dalton.

So yes, Sanu being a worse clone of LeFell, especially considering their combine size and numbers were practically identical, makes a perfect comparison.

I'm not even going to look at the stats I'm just going to note that you aren't bringing up Sanu's Atlanta stats and guess that is because they're inconvenient to your argument. I honestly don't know his stats in Atlanta but it is telling that you aren't including them.

LaFell is done in this league for a reason. Decent guy but come on.

yeah, LaFell is a horrible comparison...he's more like Bethel Johnson, no?...............:confused::eek::eek:o_Oo_Oo_O

In the gameday programs, Sanu bridges the gap between Philip Dorsett (13) and N’Keal Harry (15), and for that I am appreciative.

In Atlanta. The most TDs in a season was 5, and best yards were 820. I already mentioned the stats which you ignored. LeFell is older, that's why he is out of the league.

LeFell with the same QB as Sanu put up better stats. I'd take 862 yards and 7 TDs over Sanu's 760 Yard and 5 TD season with Dalton. Or his 820 yard season with 4 TDs season with the Falcons. Sanu has always been mediocre.

I agree we need to be more open minded/supportive here. Maybe he was touched inappropriately by a first down marker as a youth or something

Lol Brandon Lafell is catching heat for being out of the league at 33?

Sanu can actually throw the football. I know last week we used him on a gadget play where he ran the option for no gain. Maybe try something similar and have a receiver slip behind the defense for a pass next time?

Maybe Sanu can play QB in this league! He certainly can't or won't block! It was a wasted 2nd rd draft pick as far as I am concerned.

I'm kind of surprised by the level of hate Sanu is getting rn.

Sanu's status in the NFL has always been as a solid #2 WR. He has worked behind all-pro #1 WRs (AJ Green and Julio Jones) who generally got double coverage, allowing him more room to operate. When he arrived in NE, Edelman was hurting and wasn't always getting the coverage of a Green or Jones. Also, the Pats' playbook is not the easiest to absorb. Finally, Sanu had a high ankle sprain, an injury that can linger. This still doesn't excuse Sanu's output to date but it does put it into context. Sanu is well aware that he is underperforming. Now Edelman seems to be recovering physically and Harry is starting to become a factor. If Sanu continues his mediocre performance, then I agree that he is an expensive bust. The rest of the 2019 season will tell the story.

Sanu has never been a solid #2, he had been a decent #3. He was the #3 in Cin behind Green and Marvin Jones, and in Atlanta the #3 to Julio Jones and Tyler Gabriel then Calvin Ridley.

It's coming. Fake reverse off PA to Roberts.

An inside pitch to him against the flow on a fake reverse would be kind of fun.
If you're a defender/DC you know it's coming, most likely 11 involved as well. Both are two of the better passers regarding non-QB's.
