Supposing the Dome Gnome Brees does not pass for 3 TD's tonight, the Patriots play the Bills a day before the Saints play in week 16.

What are the thoughts here on whether the game will be stopped to present Brady with an award if he is the one to break the record?

Personally I would love Brady to do it, just so he can say he doesn't want any fanfare, let's just kick the extra point and get on with the damn game. That would totally be the Patriots way, and really stick it to the NFL. It would also stop Brees from having another nauseating self-aggrandizing display like when he broke the passing yards record. Knowing Brady like we do, I suspect he would be embarrassed about receiving such attention, particularly in a game of such importance.

"Supposing" is all I need to know..

Records are made to be broken, when all is said and done barring catastrophic injury Brees will come out on top...

Brees is one of the most overrated quarterbacks of all time. This stat padding clown has won less than 60% of his regular season games and is 8-7 in the playoffs. Which makes sense considering he cares more about his personal stats than winning. I expect another 5 minute speech when he makes sure to break the record tonight. Imagine this dude’s numbers if he didn’t get 9 dome games a year + a game in Tampa and North Carolina

If you want something that sums up the stat padding Dome Gnomes career, look no further than 2011 against the Rams. Down 31-14 with 6 seconds to play, he throws an 8 yard touchdown.

Correct
..he's always been the ultimate stat padder!!! 8 playoff wins?? Lol Tom has like , 30!!!

All I want to know is how the hell does Brees have such fantastic receivers and backfield and solid OL and we have these amateurs. Brady is playing handicapped.

Talk to me about this record the game the last one of the two plays in.

You don’t have to hate on Brees in order to defend Brady. Brady’s accomplishments are untouchable. But Brees plays the game the right way, prepares extremely hard and I assure you cares very much about winning. And if he ends up with more TD passes than Brady, BFD.

I'm not really hating on Brees, just the fascination of stopping team games to celebrate individual accomplishments. I respect him as a player, but I thought the circus around his passing yard record was distasteful. I'd like to think Brady would refuse to participate in such a tawdry display.

I was hoping Brady would be the 1st to break Forehead's record, but likely it will be Brees. If the refs didn't botch the KC game, Brady would be at least tied.

If that was the Brady, you would say the team was mentally strong and they never gave up. Look no further than the Texans game. But also.. how did you dig that up from 2011? You must really have a soft spot for Drew Brees.

These records don't mean as much. For example, its becoming quite clear that a 100+ career passer rating is the norm. Winning is the only record you can't temper with, winning can survive any rule change.

There is zero chance to win a football game down 17 with 6 seconds left. That’s stat padding at its finest

So you're saying I need to cheer for the Colts tonight (pass D, anyway), after cheering for the Steelers last night? Strange days indeed.

I don't suspect the TD record, regardless of who gets it first, will get the same attention as the passing yards record simply because it could be re-broken the following week or day, depending on when it happens.

As for the display when Brees got the yards record, it happened on a TD on national television. I was there in 2002 when Emmitt Smith broke the rushing yards record. It happened picking up a 1st down on the middle of a drive and the game stopped just as long as that night in New Orleans, if not longer. So it's not as if that kind of thing is new.

Colts would be dumb to not drop everybody back at the goal line tonight until Brees has the record. I would fake everyone at the line and drop em all back.

I do have a lot of respect for him, just rubbed me the wrong way when he was 1-4 and was all excited about that dumb consecutive touchdown pass streak. I can't say I wouldn't want to pump up stats if I were in the same position lol. But it is cool Brady just plays to win.

Lol remember when Brady threw number 50 and was holding up 2 fingers to go for 2 right away? Brees would have stopped the game for a few minutes
