I'm Finally Convinced: This is Brady's Last Year in New England

I was one of those who were in denial until this piece of news.

He has worked locally on a very personal basis with the people running this charitable organization. Hence THIS is a far bigger tell than just selling a local domicile which he has done several times in the past.

.

He has bought and sold homes in the past, but that was before he had school aged children. I’d say selling your home and buying a new one in another region of the country where you will need to enroll your kids in school is a fairly big indicator.

I try (sometimes uncucessfully) to be level-headed about these things as none of us know what is really going on in the man's personal life and mind.

Forget about the sale of the house and the Best Buddies role change.

Let's assume he sticks to his word and intends to play in 2020.

There is no question his numbers are down. We can all come up with reasonable reasons why that is the case. If I'm Tom, the keys questions I would ask myself are:

-Is some of this due to me? Do I "suck " now?
-If not, at 43, can I handle this? At 44? 45?
-If so, do I need to be surrounded by more talent on offense?
-If so, will that happen here?
-If not, do I need a change of scenery?

The Chargers arent reaching the Super Bowl and neither are the Patriots unless a miracle happens.

Between the two - - the odds are better with the team coached by Belichick than with that all-star team that is coached by whoever the hell succeeds the soon-to-be Mike Lynne (how the hell does that "all-star team go 5-8????? - theyt are the Browns West) in a few weeks...........

He has many homes.

For several years, his and Gisele's main pad was the huge place in LA. I still remember him playing for the Patriots.

There are things called work apartments/condos.

Cutting personal ties with a local office of a charity is a far different issue, and is what changed my opinion of this being his last year here. I'm not a tunnel vision dig in your heels train like Deus. If the facts change, I perceive reality of the situation as it changes. The facts just changed yesterday.

They left LA when their kids were quite young. So, were they going to move their kids out of their mansion with a huge yard in Brookline into a Boston apartment while their mansion with a huge yard sits empty in Greenwich? I think their plans were obvious months ago. Although, I suppose we could still both be wrong.

A work apartment/condo. It's been done by many athletes. When they had the huge mansion in LA, he and Gisele rented a small place in the Back Bay for years - - even when they had kids. They were often seen out on the Esplanade. Today, I believe they have 5-6 domiciles of varying sizes.

It's very easy to do when you are a quasi billionaire couple.

The Best Buddies thing? That's a completely different deal - that is in the sphere of working with human beings - THAT is the real signal that he is planning on this being his last year here.

I doubt he’s made up his mind, but it’s definitely in play.

Cool that Edelman is so involved, guess I forgot he was doing that. Tatum jumping in on it is really cool to see too.

I don't think this means anything more than he won't be spending his summers here. He's already purchased a new house so it's not like he won't have to be somewhere else in season next year no matter where he plays. Might as well be NE. He probably hasn't decided yet but I can't see him starting over elsewhere so I think this means nothing more than he doesn't have time for local stuff anymore.

6 rings or 75 degrees and high tide?

lived in Encinitas for 15 years....the weather is nice....got to watch the pats at 10am and then had the rest of the day ahead of me.

for some reason I’m here now

10-3 or 5-8?

im all pats and TB12, but respectfully, that chargers team wouldnt be 5-8 with TB this year. rivers has literally thrown game changing INT's (sometime multiple) in 6 of those losses and they still lost by TD or less...

Just wonder if keeping Jimmy G instead would of keeped the pats staying on top for the next 12-14 years.

I think the OP is making too big a deal of this. Its just possible that Brady needs a break from his previous role at BB or perhaps his new role requires a larger time commitment...

I keep hearing this but they made 2 superbowls since then and won 1. That's a career for HOF players and Jimmy would be lucky to ever do that anywhere, including NE. Jimmy G isn't going down the field in OT of the AFC Championship in arrowhead and he's fumbling the ball 5 times against the Rams. I guess it comes down to would you rather have Jimmy for 12 years and make the playoffs some years but win no superbowl, or would you rather have Brady for 4 years and go to 3 win 2 or even goto 2 win 1.

You can wonder all you want. Jimmy wasn't going to resign here for backup money. And there is no team in the NFL...not the Pats or anyone else, that's going to pay their backup starting QB money to sit on the bench.

It's a shame that the timing didn't work out but it turned out Brady had a few more years of high level QB play left. Two ships passing in the night and all that.

I make no prediction on his decisions (as I'm not a factor in them) and will just wait and react when something happens. any postulating on my part would be wasted energy.

Regardless, he's given me, as a fan, more than I'd ever have thought possible and can't really do anything wrong at this point (other than something drastic which would go against any behaviors he's every exhibited).

I’ll take option 2. And who’s to say we didn’t already draft someone similar skill wise to Jimmy in Stidham?

I just looked Encinitas up on Realtor.com, real estate costs start at $400k+ for a mobile home while a decent 3 bedroom home appears to be $650k+...crazy. Beautiful area, but prices are certainly pretty insane. Had heard about that area in the past but didn't realize that's where the market was there now.

Honestly wish him better than this sorry O-line and receiving core. If he stays with the Pats, great. If he finds a better team that will give him the talent he deserves, great. Will still route for the Pats!

ps. if he goes to Indy he is dead to me.

Relax. Why worry about something you have absolutely no control over? Lol.
