Penalties being considered for the Pats - UPDATED 1/1/2020

I don’t but rules were broken and they admitted it so they have to take their medicine. I wouldn’t want another team to do something like that and get away with it scot free.
They admitted an uninformed mistake which might've been careless, but a mistake nonetheless. Context should mean something.

It would be nice to have this resolved one way or another by the end of the week before actual football is played. End the drama.

they were careless and that should incur a penalty imo.

This thread it all. Posters screeching and hissing like a feral cat at anyone who thinks the Patriots, at worst made an error in judgement and then there’s the posters who are ready to condemn Bill, Kraft, and the whole organization over a limited amount of evidence.

Agreed. Punishment should fit the crime. If the football ops is cleared of any wrongdoing a fine to the organization is the logical choice.

If that's the case, and it can be verified the Patriots didn't document the advance scout at any other game, wouldn't that mean the Pats were in on it and knew they would be screwed over by the refs in the Chiefs game?

The camera guy was confronted and the video was turned over before the KC game even started. Are you telling me there's been similar instances involving the Patriots all season long but they never went public because the NFL didn't need a distraction?

No what I am saying is why did it take only after the uproar over the rigged or fixed or whatever Pats game that this news broke? Kravitz has a tweet a couple hours after the AFCCG. Why the delay this time?

If no harm was intended and none was done, why can't it be forgiven and forgotten? Just wondering, do you work in law enforcement?

There will (and should imo) be a penalty.
Depends on the penalty. A fine, yeah. Docking draft picks for some townie goon who has nothing to do with football ops filming a bit of contents in the wrong place would be pretty dumb, though.

You should investigate.

Harm was done. They admitted they broke the rules.

If they were stupid and careless enough to do something like this with the history of this franchise and the perception it has then they should be penalized without a doubt.

Get Brady 4 touchdown passes to piss off the Bengals, Peyton and Brees.

Oh yeah man. That chip on his shoulder guarantees he's gonna throw for like 200 yards and 0 INTs. The league just awakened a sleeping giant. Awakened? Awoke? Awokened? Awuk? Idk

Do some of you even realize that if the league links this to Bill that he would be in even worse position by LYING about it? Why would he lie about something like this and say he had nothing to do with it? Makes no sense...

If the documentary had been filmed during a game in week 3 and just now came out, I'd be more inclined to agree with your stance. But right now, I just don't see news breaking on something during the day Monday as opposed to the previous evening as enough evidence of the NFL wanting to distract from another story.

That's where this Patriots staffer comes into the picture:

Been working today. Can’t believe my job woulda get in the way of what’s really important!

What do we really know about what’s on the top tapes so far? I heard 8 mins of directly taping the sidelines? Who reported that? And do we have any context, like if it was directed at signalers, also documenting down and distance, etc? Trying to understand what we REALLY know at this point. Thanks

I’ll be shocked if we don’t lose a draft pick to go with the fine.

Just read a couple of blurbs saying Goody and his brownshirts want to resolve it before the weekend.

Even with that I would need to know the context of those 8 minutes.

I would not be shocked at all if the sideline was being filmed at some point anyways. That would be obvious to me. But is there anything being focused upon, and are they looking at the clock as a reference? That’s what I want to know.

I don’t see why a general camera view of the Bengals sideline would be any suspicious indicator that more than a simple infraction occurred. Whether it’s more than that will be telling.

... if it was directed at signalers...

Signals for both offense and defense are given through radio headsets. You cannot film radio waves (for any Jets fans in the audience).
