Per the same source, the NFL is holding an owners meeting this week. I would expect the NFL wants this to be all out in the open, the timing couldn’t be any better for them to get things wrapped up, get questions, and move on.

I'm expecting Bobby Kraft to go full Jihad on the other owners then. It was his video operation
Hey! Maybe fire Jonathan as the designated Fall Guy Schmuck.

This whole ordeal will light a fire under the offense this week...

They'll come out and score 21 against the bengals.

How in the **** do you not inform a camera crew to not FILM THE ****ING SIDELINES ESPECIALLY AFTER SPYGATE? HOLY **** KRAFT IS ****ING STUPID.

8 MINUTES OF SIDELINE FOOTAGE AND SIGNALS?

COME THE **** ON!!!
This is literally how I feel. I'm more pissed off than anything else about this. Not gonna bother trying to defend it.

Fat Fred Kirsch is VP of Content and Publisher for the Patriots.

He should be fired.

Yeah, just as a thought experiment, imagine being the person in charge of this stuff. You decide that you're going to do a documentary episode on your advance scouting, which will entail taping game action. At that point I'm probably already nixing it, because it's just not worth even a tiny chance of what just happened happening.

But hey, let's say you decide to go ahead with it anyway. Literally the very first thought that enters my head is "goddamn, gotta make 1000% sure nothing about this can be construed as another Spygate. I'd better impress on everyone involved in filming that we're under intense scrutiny at all times on account of the reputation that we, rightly or wrongly, have." At this point we have to assume that this conversation was not had, because if it was you gotta figure there wouldn't be 8 ****ing minutes of sideline tape.

But hey, let's say you actually need that tape for whatever reason. Fine, then I would go a mile out of my way to make sure every last thing, down to the tiniest of minutiae, was preemptively cleared with the league, so that if at any point someone was suspicious of my team--as they're likely to be--the league office would have already had advance notice and would know we're on the up and up. I'd seek to get the same kind of arrangement with the team being advance scouted, but if they weren't inclined to give it then that wouldn't be a dealbreaker as long as the league office knew. If I couldn't get that clearance/validation from the league office, I simply wouldn't do the episode. Full stop.

That's a sequence of 3 different colossal failures of common sense. For failing to understand this and undertake these steps, Kirsch and anyone else involved in this production has proven incompetent and a massive liability to the organization.

we're going to drop a scorching hot 18 points on their asses.

I mean, it is by far the simplest explanation and is almost certainly the right call. Just based on the facts we know, it's either an honest mistake or the most incompetently conceived and executed cheating conspiracy ever devised. Occam's Razor borderline commands you to accept that it's the former. But even still, an "are you ****ing kidding me? Honest mistake or not, how can you guys possibly be this stupid?" fine is 100% called for here.

None of which changes how pissed I am that the film crew was dumb enough to put us in this spot.

The 'advanced scout' should also of at some point have the foresight to make sure the cameras were pointing anywhere but the field. If a scout doesn't know the history of the franchise well...

For all those here who can’t see the truth here it is. Follow along now.

Pats sign AB. Torrent of accusations and hearsay follow forming into a tsunami of public opinion and he is released. After the release, crickets. Some can’t seem to understand the truth in that.

Pats get screwed against the Chiefs that has an effect on the playoff seeding. The screw job was so noticeable that the media couldn’t help themselves and the furor was starting to build. What was probably a small irritant or misunderstanding was instead at the behest of the the NFL turned into as big of a “scandal” as they could muster to make the Pats look bad, thus the outrage over the screwjob would be lessened to the point it would go away.

That is the story and the whole story.

Rapoport says he believes it will be “something along the lines of a fine.”

There will (and should imo) be a penalty.

So your position is that a scout, who's a scout as opposed to a video guy, should be determining camera shots?

Does your boss know that you're high as a kite on a Tuesday afternoon?

Looks like the machine in full force today to make this a story.

Cant say you didnt see it coming.

lol. No it's not his job but if he was in the pressbox with them he could of helped them out if they truly were unaware.

If that's the case, and it can be verified the Patriots didn't document the advance scout at any other game, wouldn't that mean the Pats were in on it and knew they would be screwed over by the refs in the Chiefs game?

The camera guy was confronted and the video was turned over before the KC game even started. Are you telling me there's been similar instances involving the Patriots all season long but they never went public because the NFL didn't need a distraction?

 Why do you want to see the team penalized?

I don’t but rules were broken and they admitted it so they have to take their medicine. I wouldn’t want another team to do something like that and get away with it scot free.
