It doesn't matter what Chatam says, people don't care. One single ESPN person is reporting the Patriots cheated, so they did. This story is growing legs and won't be going away anytime soon.
Yup
it’s nauseating to deal with at this point. Even if the NFL determines it was nothing, they will let this story sit out there and marinate for awhile to milk it for ratings and to influence public opinion/perception of the Patriots.
perfectly timed to take attention away from the rigged officiating in the Chiefs game and to continue to vilify the Pats so they can increase ratings
Peyton Manning can do HGH, break NFL records and then be outed by an undercover on video and the NFL buried that story for months without a peep until it’s forgotten.
Eli Manning can commit fraud, a felony, by selling bogus merchandise to fans and stealing their money... not a peep from the league, no punishment, no media coverage
Patriots filming a documentary that caught some sideline activity? Media immediately starts to go into scandal mode, manufacturing a story and dragging it out as much as humanly possible to keep it in the news cycle generating clicks.
just look at some other teams message boards, they’ve already reached the conclusion that the Pats are caught cheating again, and are already going down their insane lists of “fair” penalties for the organization (Belichick suspended 1 year, SB titles stripped, pats forfeit from playoffs, loss of multiple 1st round picks, etc)
As silly as these stories are, the media has proven that people will believe whatever they want to believe despite the facts placed right in front of their face. People generally hate the Patriots, so whenever a media outlet runs a story like this they know it’s going to explode and get tons of attention, true or not. The mouth breathing idiots in the public eat it up, calling into talk radio, going to twitter, etc and then the NFL uses the publicity and outrage from mouth breathing, 80 IQ idiots to justify issuing an unprecedented, outrageously draconian penalty... and then everyone says “well, the punishment was harsh but it was just a make up for them getting off “easy” on Spygate”
This is a business model that ESPN seems to use once in awhile to generate more revenue. It’s BS because we as fans then have to deal with another season of non stop media attacks, etc
I’m getting really sick of it
