They were filming a documentary. This is as innocent as it gets.

But the "Adult in the room" would have the next "Do Your Job" a recorded podcast.

That's a great idea. Audio only. No cameras in Patriots' employees's hands, ever.

Blithering Kraft press conference in 3..2..1..

Ya but isn't this legal from the press box? That was supposed to be what spygate was about was filming from the sidelines rather than an authorized location.
BB and the team have both said it’s not legal to film the sidelines from the press box.

Maybe that's what the scout looks at, its legal for him to do that.

Interesting theory. An entire quarter's worth of footage seems like overkill but perhaps it was meant to be part of the episode.

Unless you want to believe Belichick is telling bald-faced lies, there's nothing here. Football operations was not involved and therefore the football operations segment of the team should not be held responsible for what occurred.

It will be entirely a Kraft/ownership issue, essentially unrelated to the football team.

Belichick has never been evasive or dishonest prior, and as cameragate unfolded, he owned his mistake and explained how he misinterpreted the rules.

I'm not concerned.

I know I'll be bashed and misquoted again for this but I have an honest question: if it's true the crew trained their camera on the Bengals sideline for the entire 1st quarter and specifically on the signal callers, do you think there's a justified TV reason? It sounds implausible that such footage would be useful or typical for a TV segment but maybe I'm overlooking something.

Again, this is IF Russini's source is accurately claiming the video showed the Bengals sideline and coaching signals for an entire quarter. Then there's the report of the guy offering to delete the footage so all will be forgotten. I'm really hoping that was either taken out of context (e.g. he made an honest mistake out of ignorance) or it's pure BS.

Yes. They had already done the interview portion with the scout. The sideline footage could then be culled for pieces to marry up to the interview to illustrate what he was talking about.

If the footage is fairly static sideline shots I actually don’t think anything draconian will happen. But if there’s any zooming in on individuals or shooting the clock, then the sideline, then it’s gonna be Lucifer’s Hammer time (and you know, rightly so).

Zooming in on individuals? That seems rather broad. I would think only if it focuses on really specific signals would be the main issue.

Shooting the clock?

Yup even if it was unintentional.

What evidence is there that the Patriots' troubles are the result of a conspiracy against them by the league?

Cameraplacementgate turned into Spygate.

0.3 psi ( or 0 psi if Walt Anderson's recollection was accepted) turned into deflategate.

If you do not understand both of those statements you are apparently not a longtime Pats fan nor an Adult in the room.

Like in the OG Cameragate videos. Shoot the clock to get score, time, down & distance, then the sideline, then the clock, then the sideline, etc.

I was thinking about this, and I guess it's possible (albeit unlikely) that the camera crew could do the things you mentioned (film the scoreboard and zoom in on certain elements of the sideline), and it be a legitimate coincidence, where they were not instructed by anyone in football operations to do so.

But yeah, unlikely, and virtually a deathknell if that occurred.

That's not evidence of a conspiracy.

If the media makes this a big story, it will be a big story. National media hates BB/Pats so here’s their chance again.

Sure submitting to the sheople is the Adult thing to do.

I'm half joking, but if the same general problem had caused me this much grief, serious measures would be taken.

It all spins around what the league punishes it as. That’s what encourages the narrative.

Because if that tape is damning then do you honestly believe this is first time we have done this? Again, IF the tape shows the camera stealing signals in a way it looks suspicious we are screwed. This will be talked about along with our other scandels and we will be crucified.

Again, it depends what the tape shows. If it shows signal stealing then we are cheaters in this case, period.

Let me get this straight: are you saying that it's possible this camera crew asked for NFL credentials in multiple weeks so that they could film sidelines under the pretense of a show on the advanced scout (and each week, to keep up the ruse, they also interviewed the scout with everyone around noticing)? Belichick left a record a mile long with all these NFL teams of having these guys credentialed? Or did they sneak into the press booth? And they concocted this ruse by hiring independent contractors? They went through all this rather than buying a ticket for a guy in the stands who could film to his heart's content? You believe this is plausible?

If you're right, then Bill Belichick is a stupid idiot.

This sort of stuff right here is what I was responding to when I said if the only defense you can come up with is some wild conspiracy theory, that's not good. You might as well just go with Mark Fuhrman planted the tape.
Just trying to piece together the fact that he shot the field for a quarter, then offered to delete it all when challenged. What innocent witless video guy is going to do those things? But if he's actually say a Steelers fan with PDS, how could he resist the chance to bring down the evil empire? He'd be a PA folk hero forever. He may not have even planned it, just made it up as he went along.
