How Can the Pats Stop the Ravens?

Chargers gon’ charge...

I think the 49ers gave us some good game tape on at least slowing the Ravens down

Their offense reminds me of the single wing/wing t in the sense that you have to be extremely disciplined

you have to be extremely disciplined

Sometimes. I'm always of the opinion that diversity and ability to morph according to down, distance, and personnel is too critical to the entirety of a game more than "one" thing.

I don't disagree that the Tedy Bruschi take is insightful and necessary. This is an offensive style that you just don't see; with as elusive a player in the "open" field (3-7 yds behind the LOS - than in the actual open field) as any skill position WR/TE/RB in the NFL. So discipline, particularly on first down is indeed a critical coached skill for any team headed to play the Ravens.

That was what I noticed more than anything else today vs the 49ers, when the Ravens "lost" first down (penalty or 2 yds or less gained) - their conversion rate plummeted which IS the same as every other offense in the league.

This is a team that thrives on constantly having the defense in short/middle distance situations where they can't key on either run or pass so they have to defend the "extra" skill player in LJ.

First down is crucial regardless of the "how" - the "when" is the key to me to beating this Ravens team.

Who are the most f'd up teams in the league?
Chargers, Lions, Jets, Falcons, Bills, Washington, Bengals?

For me its the Chargers. I've lost so much money on that team it's insane. GL fumbles, HO fumbles, snap fumbles.

Eariler this year vs Tenn
Ball on 16. TD reversed Ball on 1
False Start
No play Tenn Penalty
TD reversed
Fumble

That's basically the last 15 years for that ****show

I really got a disagree @UptownPatsFan

Great insight on how to slow down that Ravens offense.

did you mean to put this in the gambling thread? I would definitely say the Broncos. They find more ways to lose (atleast this season)IMO but probably have less talent than the chargers

I made a mistake. Besides I've posted more insight than 99% of the board in the Ravens rewatch thread alone. This thread turned into a joke a long time ago.

No I thought it was the other weekly NFL thread just made a mistake.

Denver is up there but in Chargers territory? Idk?

Feel like it's between Bengals, Chargers & Jets but it's a fun thought.

Even going back to LT/Rivers vs NEP. They just always found a way lol.

We have bigger things to worry about than the Ravens right now...if the Pats can't turn things around in the 2nd half against Houston.

Offense has taken a step. Backwards. Need some big adjustments at half.

At game in Houston. Charade is over. Time to sign AB. Id take Reche Caldwell and Doug Gabriel over ANY patriots Wide Receiver. All this message board talks about is Newhouse...the problem has been the wide receivers.

If we don’t sign him, the greatest quarterback whoever lived, somehow, isn’t retiring in New England.

thank you, bob. Thank you, liberal mafia.

Well turns out the Pats didn’t get a chance to stop the Ravens, but the Ravens were easily stopped.

I was thinking about this last night. Every so often an offense comes along and they're discussed as an unstoppable force, where you watch them and can't fathom how they could ever be stopped. The whole country goes nuts and talks about how dominant they are, and can't imagine a scenario where they ever have to punt. A few examples:

01 Rams
04 Colts
07 Patriots (tailed off a bit towards the end)
13 Broncos
16 Falcons (esp during the playoffs)
18 Chiefs

What do these teams have in common? They all lost in stunning fashion in the playoffs, in most cases being completely embarrassed. Four of these were to the Patriots. The only team that looked remotely like the juggernaut they were in the regular season was the Chiefs for one half, although the other half they were shut out, which was enough.

Has any 'historically good' offense won anything in the last two decades? I think not.

The Ravens feel like they're in this category. The same national conversation is taking place. But I can see them ending their season the same way as these other teams.

I would also like to point out how accurate this post of mine was. What a great point by me that played out perfectly months later.

There was also the 15-1 high flying Aaron Rodgers packers to add to that list. Must’ve been a Top 10 all time O at 560 points, got smacked by the giants in round 1 at home lol...

Yes balance helps

Fun, useless fact, since 2013 the Pats either won the super bowl or the team that beat them in the playoffs won. Titans can keep the streak alive.
