Tripping calls were bad, but definitely a cop out.

If the plays are replayed frame by frame, the calls looks bogus.
If the plays are viewed at full speed they look correct.

What are you smoking. Slowed down, sped up or normal speed those tripping calls were abhorrent.

While the leg contact was minimal on one play, the O lineman was balancing on one leg with his other sticking out with clear intent. It was an unnatural act and contact was clear but only marginally disruptive.
Keep both feet on the ground and the lineman has nothing to worry about
boo hoo Dallas

I mean you cant just say "go and convert it", Especially against our defense. The cowboys had already converted a 3rd and 1 and had it stolen from them by a phantom penalty. Would they have driven down and scored a TD? Maybe, maybe not. But they shouldve had the oppurtunity too.

That penalty isnt why they lost but it was definitely a horrible pentalty that destroyed their last drive. If that happened to us you guys know you would be furious.

It did happen to us.

The bogus call against Shaq blew up our drive.

Not to mention the multiple non-calls of pass interference.

This is some hard to swallow pills that whiny losing fans need to hear when the refs decide the game.

It's the same attitude that leads fans to complain about the overtime rules (but only after their team loses because of them). If you truly deserved to win, you would have done so in regulation. If you let it get to overtime, you have to accept there's going to be part of it that may not be in your control. You had 60 minutes to prevent that, and neither team could.

What I read was there was contact but that it wasn't intentional so it shouldn't have been called. I call BS, actually saw the other OLman knee High on the back after the first guy kneed him on the thigh and took him down. Those guys know exactly what they are doing.

I hope the league sends the refs a memo to not call tripping. Then Bill will tell his OL to trip to their heart’s content. New controversy!

I hate when the NFL does this. Owners like Jerry piss and moan about penalties and the next day the league says it shouldn't have made the call. Makes the refs look like idiots. Way to treat employees.

I wonder if NE noticed something about tripping on film and in their weekly report that teams make to the league pointed it out as something to look for. Getting 2 calls was odd

I'd be pissed if those calls were against the Pats, so I get it if Cowboy fans are frustrated. There are so many missed calls, wrong calls, non-calls, makeup calls, there is almost no point in trying to understand it as a fan, you just have to hope your team can play through. I think Bill's perspective on this is pretty great, and it might NOT be unique but it certainly seems so - coach your players in techniques and strategies that make them not commit penalties! But accept that some will be called anyway. Fans can be annoyed and espouse conspiracy theories and whatnot, but when players/coaches/owners ***** about it, it just looks pathetic. **I will grant a caveat here for clock-related occurrences like TB's "game ending" throw away ball, that was just strange and I don't get it**

Also as was pointed out the league just needs to stop commenting re: refereeing. They are just making it harder on themselves, and it ends up more and more confusing for the refs every year - PI revisions, what is a catch, what can be reviewed, was he down, let's make sure every broadcast has a former ref to criticize the field refs in real-time on national tv, etc. The least they could do is support them.

amen, I’m thrilled we won but it would be hypocritical to think we wouldn’t be beyond irate if that call was made against us.

just glad it’s a call in our favor......wasn’t as bad as the try flowers multiple hands to the face penalties but they were still bad

Anyone who complains about calls in favor of the Pats just needs to go rewatch the 2006 AFCCG and stfu

These calls were reminiscent of the phantom roughing the passer call on KC vs Brady in afc title game last year...

In the refs defense, they thought they saw Mike Tomlin out there

Or even better, the last 60 seconds of the Patriots-Panthers game from November 18, 2013.

Or the 2015 regular season game in Denver. That was the most biased officiating that I remember.

Nah. You could see the intent was clearly there. They were opening up their hips and lifting that leg to help cover the gap. It was obvious. Doesn’t change the fact that it was a bs call. Very ticky tack or whatever the hell its called these days. I couldn’t believe the amount of holding our DL was having to fight through with a no call, just to get calls like these. This league has a problem.

Calls go both ways. The Patriots got some questionable calls and non-calls go against them in that game as well.
