Right, when you say everyone doing the first is actually doing the second you’re trying to moderate the board into mindless content.

I guess you could prove me wrong by showing me all the posts that say NEP are the NYJ. But if there aren’t any posts like that than it proves my point that your characterizing posts that don’t say that, as saying that.
Prove what point?

First of all, I did not say everyone.

I've been on this board for 13 years.
The shift from appreciating and accepting imperfect football victories to entitlement to a NEP blowout win and whining over a 17-10 win on the road is over the top.

Go back and read the GDTs and post game threads. That is mindless, entitled *****ing

A vast majority of the offenses problems is that Newhouse is an absolute trash tier lineman who gets pushed into Brady on virtually every snap. We need Wynn back to have any sense of how good this offense can be because with the line play the last few weeks it wasn’t pretty and Brady suffered.

I also believe we really don't know what the offense has for a ceiling until Tom is comfortable. Not saying he needs 3+ seconds to throw but....

If TB doesn't have trepidation every snap from his blindside, feel rushed and go thru his progressions, the offense will improve.

If TB can use the entire playbook, the offense will improve.

If the line can at least offer enough of a push for the running game to be effective so play-action is respected, the offense will improve.

Too many ifs but that is whats required

Here are some reasons we were pretty much doomed this time last year:

- Not a Top 5 defense. Not a Top 10 defense for that matter.
- That won't cut it against the Chiefs.
- No Danny Amendola, kiss those clutch playoff plays goodbye
- We have lost Deion Lewis' cat-like quickness
- We lost to the Titans 34-10 (Almost a year ago today? Maybe a year ago last week?) Tom Brady ohfer in terms of TDs? Kellerman's cliff (again?) I get Kellerman's Cliff confused with Cliff Kingsbury, TBH, but I digress...
- That won't cut it against the Chiefs
- Back-to-Back losses in December, how un-Patriotic of them, and also no HFA, no way we go to Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs
- Oh shlitz, we lost Josh Gordon? No way we beat the Chiefs. We might not even get to play the Chiefs.

That was an 11-5 year (11-5 didn't even get us in the playoffs in 08...) We ended up nutting up and beating drumroll... the Chiefs, to get to the Rams. That Rams SB (3 PA) was more a harbinger of this year than the Chiefs game, your basic shootout.

It's football. You get guys. You lose guys. (This year, we seem to have lost just about EVERY guy who can catch a football...) You work with what you got. The other guys get paid too. Cliche cliche cliche.

Who's chances you like better?

Yeah, I think people who weren't Pats fans prior to this era might be prominent in this year's edition of the Chicken Little Brigade.

There are a number of folks here who are Brady fans, not Patriots fans. That's OK, but they won't be happy if the team wins without Brady being instrumental.

There are 32 NFL teams. I understand given their year in year out ineptitude deciding anyone who plays for the Jete, Skins and Bungles shouldn't count as NFL players and perforce have to be left out of the equation. That gets you to 29, who are the other 3 you've decided to leave out?

Ha, thx for th catch. I knew that and brain farted. I typed 26, did the mental math on 26 (x 100/2 + 3x... b/c, 53...) and typed in the answer on 26... all knowing it's 32. Because I am an epic dumbass.

I am leaving it stand b/c work soon. you're right.

I've run across that in the past. To wit, a couple years ago, I dared opine that whatever 1 PP decides to do w/the Brady/JimmyG thing, I am fine.

Still am, regardless of who you plug into the positions. But Since then I've seen the light. Given the unicorn that is Tom Brady, I still cannot see betting against him as the best bet in any given year.

"Better a year early than a year late" has major structural issues in his case.

All that said, if they decide to make a move, I buy new laundry without "12" on it and we move on.

One big problem right now: Brady isn't leading the team at all. He's pouting, and has been (dare I say it?) since AB got axed. His remarks about rookie wide receivers were...unfortunate.

More than that, they were deleterious.

Wynn isn't the magic pill, but he'll help a lot. As for the people trying to blame it all on Newhouse, that's pure scapegoating. Toughest hit Brady took last week was when a blitz came from the RIGHT side and wasn't picked up/identified.

And I'll say it again: the last 3 games have been against teams with two weeks to prepare - to prepare for a Patriots team that is obviously struggling on offense, with some serious holes (TE is the biggest).

If this were 01 to 06 this place would be going crazy.

Instead 1/2 the board is happy but concerned and the other 1/2 acts like it's 30 days of night and their ice cream was taken away.

I think a of this is because we've been conditioned since 2010 to Brady and the offense carrying the team, and having defenses that were either outright bad or at least disappointing.

How many here trust this defense to continue at the historical pace they've been on? After the Baltimore game, I suspect most here fear the defense will collapse when facing good offenses.

We're so used to Brady and the offense carrying the team that we've forgotten that defenses can and do win championships.

Hence the panic about what is probably the worst offense here since before Brady and Belichick (actually 2002 was a little worse, but even 2008 and 2000 were better). Many of us think it more likely that the the offense will improve than that the defense will sustain.

So this Dallas game is hugely interesting: by DVOA they are by far the best offense in the league, #3 in both passing and rushing. Their defense is 20th ranked, and their special teams are 25th ranked, but overall they are 4th ranked.

The Dallas game will be the best test yet of whether this team can win it all with a great defense and a mediocre offense.

Exactly.

What I believe is this D is freaking dominant. BAL caught us on a bad night and had a great game plan and scheme. When we play them again (and we will) I expect a much better defensive showing, and a victory because I do believe the offense (health + time + practice +coaching) is/will be good enough to score an ample amount of points to win because of the D.

We have retro'd to 2001-2003. Toms job is to score enough points and let the game be decided by special teams and defense.

The 2010 era fans can't comprehend how to win football games without scoring a ton of points.

Last year's SB was 2001 all over again and this year is 2003 (which scored 21ppg).

I have forseen this.:p

Nothing wrong with pointing out faults with the team. 9-1 is great. But some of us are looking at the big picture. Playoffs. Seeding. Facing elite teams. Having an elite defense is great. But we've seen nothing from the offense this season that shows they would be able to overcome a bad D showing. Granted it was one game (Baltimore). But it's fair for fans to be concerned.

yes......because there's value in that

How fast they progress is an open question of course, but they all should be in a better place at the end of the season than they are now.

Edelman is averaging 10 targets/game. The ground is probably averaging another 5 (just blue skying here, I have no clue). Assume 35 P/A/G, that leaves 20 for the other receivers...It's gonna take a while for Sanu/Harry/Meyers (plus Dorsett, White, and Watson) to come up to speed. That being said, I find myself irritated sometimes at Brady and his default setting of not Trusting his receivers until they prove themselves. How do they get better if you don't throw at them?

The truth hurts sometimes, I understand that...but don't shoot the messengers because of it.

I think Watson looks fine, he's made some big catches and should only get better.

If he played a full 16 game season at his current pace, he'd have about 40 catches for 500 yards. It's certainly not game changing, but I think that's as good as we can expect from a 38 year old who seems to have been Plan C. I'm happy enough with Watson individually, just wish he was a TE2 instead of 1.

Patriot TEs thru 10 games

2019
Watson/LaCosse/Izzo/Tomlinson- 17-games- 733 snaps- 33 targets, 23 catches, 297yds, 1TD

2018
Gronk/Allen - 17 games- 742 snaps- 47 targets 32 catches, 475yds, 1TD

People are just scared because the Ravens look unstoppable right now.

People here would have flipped out in 2003.

The regular season game margins:
-31, +21, +7, -3, +8, +11, +6 (OT - bomb to Brown), +6, +4, +12, +3 (OT - Houston comeback, Watson catches tying score at end of regulation), +4 (McGinest goalline vs. Indy), +12, +14, +5, +31

And many of them were ugly, grinding wins. The theme that year was opponents saying after the game "we were the better team and should have won."

The playoff game margins:
+3, +10, +3
