Hey guys our 07 Patriots were voted the 7th greatest team of all time in the NFL 100 Greatest Teams. Interesting I didn't expect them to be in the top 10 due to the loss that shall not be named. The other next best Patriots team on the list was the 04 Patriots they were voted 16th. Incase any of you are interested the link has the list. Your thoughts?
Undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins named greatest team in NFL history

The 2014 team is Way too low. They beat the best D of the decade and had a roster that could beat any team in history.

Peak Brady, Peak Gronk, Peak Edelman, Last year of shut down Revis, McCourty, Hightower, Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins Wilfork and many great role players like Bryan Stork (pre concussions he looked like a Pro Bowler for years to come) Browner (perfect 2nd CB with safety help) Logan Ryan, the incredibly well balanced Blount/Vereen RB pair, 1000 yds receiver Brandon LaFell...

Honestly I believe the 2 best teams of the decade met and the Patriots won by the play of the decade. 46? If the 2013 Seahawks are 13 then the Pats team who beat them the next year should be much higher than 46.

Yup, my favorite team. Even the lesser knowns like Tim Wright (I actually thought they were saving the two TE formation for the Super Bowl [aside from it being used against Cincinnati after the KC blowout]), Ryan Wendell doing much better at guard than center, Akeem Ayers, Alfonzo Dennard (I know he was on IR that year but I still miss him, he seemed like the man coverage version of Asante but could actually tackle. How/why did everything go downhill for him? Seriously, was he not an awesome #2 corner for at least a few years?).

The 07 team would have been the greatest team ever save for 1 play (the freakiest play of all time!)

they should be much higher on the list. Still the best team ever imo

I think 2007 is the greatest team ever and the 1991 Redskins are the greatest Super Bowl winning team

David Tyree never caught another ball. Is that correct?

Consider that the Pats have 7 teams on that list, not a bad body of work..
7. (2007)
16. (2014)
21. (2016)
32. (20013)
46. (2014)
51. (2001)
79. (2018)

Consider the Jets...

24. (1968)... 51 years ago of mediocrity and football ineptitude.

I think the 2003/2004 combo is vastly underrated historically. Starting in week 5 of 2003 the Pats won 21 straight and went a combined 32-2 including back to back Super Bowls. The 2004 playoffs were a bear with games against an all time great offense in the Colts, a 15-1 Steelers team on the road and a 13-3 Eagles team. The Pats controlled the play in all 3 victories. That 2004 team would have smoked the 1972 Dolphins.

2007 is easily a top 10 team and maybe top 5 in my book. The result at the end doesn’t take away the complete destruction of one of the most brutal schedules I’ve seen this team have. They beat and often routed 7 playoff teams that year.

From Weeks 1-11 07 was a Top 5 GoAT team

From Weeks 12- 19 they weren't.

Is #32 a typo and that's supposed to be 2003? It has to be but clarifying.

The number 1 team is totally wrong. The 1972 Miami Dolphins beat up a cupcake schedule. Undefeated? Yes. Best of all time? No way.

I was going to make a post about that and the 2015 team that was somewhat similar, but obviously fell a lot harder. The Games 1-10 version of the 2015 Pats is a top 20 team.

All these top 100 lists have been so flawed or at least should be renamed in many cases. The top 100 plays should not have had The Butt Fumble, The Fridge TD in the SB, Jim Marshall returning the ball the wrong way, The Miracle in the Meadowlands.....those are the definition of bag play bloopers. If you want say most memorable sure.

For a single season team I'd take the 84 or 89, 49ers who were absolute beasts. But really I think a real test is the teams who could repeat. So I'd throw the Bears and Ravens right out of the discussion. The Packers teams of the 60's, the Steelers and Fins from the 70's, 49ers from the 80's, Cowboys and Broncos (highly underrated and I hate the Donkeys) from the 90's and Patriots from the 2000's is where the discussion starts and ends for me.

It's so hard to pick the greatest team(s)

I started really watching in the early 80s. I put a lot of stock in teams that have had sustained success. That means they rose to a level required to win. They may not have had the best record, best stats or all that pretty to watch but the simply won...

84 9ers
85 Bears
89 9ers
93 Cowboys
94 9ers (For their last ~10 games, they were close to the 07 NEP. Absurd)
98 Broncos
04 Pats
14 Pats

Based on their accomplishments, I throw the 78 Steelers, 72 Fish, 66 Packers in there as well.

Always a fun discussion

No 1991 Redskins in the top 10 is an absolute joke. Arguably the greatest team ever.
Thank you.

Look them up statistically. Extremely balanced in every aspect. They had no true weakness.

Mark Rypien got sacked 7 times ALL YEAR.

Highest SRS by a Super Bowl Champion of all time. Highest total DVOA of all time. Their division was stacked too. The 11-5 Cowboys, who would win the Super Bowl the next year. The Giants, who even though they finished 8-8, were reigning Super Bowl champions. And the 10-6 Eagles, who have by far the best defensive DVOA ever recorded (the Redskins were the only team ALL YEAR to gain more than 300 yards against the Eagles defense) 261 point differential which is the 3rd highest of all time. Their 2 losses were by 3 points (gave up a fluke Hail Mary) and 2 points (rested starters since it was week 17 and they home field clinched)

Look man this dynasty is long. We have at least 18000 more years of it left.
