tell them oh don’t have your QBs back whe he’s getting hit by a helmet. Hell if didn’t have his back that would be a problem if he was my teammate

Boston fans still get pissed, and rightfully so, when remembering that nobody stuck up for Savard after he got popped by Matt Cooke.

Why is Rudolph even trying to take off a defensive lineman's helmet? Garrett was totally wrong, but to me I can't help but watch that sequence of events and see Rudolph looking like a bit of a b**** in all that.

I mean, you got body slammed after a late hit, and your first response is to try to take a guy's helmet off? And then you embarrass yourself when you can't, and get embarrassed further when the other guy takes your helmet off instead. And then you go after the guy, get smoked in the head with your own helmet (another reminder he took your helmet instead of you taking his) and your first reaction then is to put your hands up like a girl and look for the ref?
I agree it appears Rudolph started it then pursued Garrett but some are saying his hand was stuck in Garrett’s helmet when lying there and he tried to rip helmet off Garrett’s head but I can’t see if his hand was stuck or not. All participants fighting should get disciplined but I hope Rudolph gets at least fined.

Honestly, Rudolph’s part in this would have much more scrutiny had Garrett’s response had not been so extreme.

Yes - and that’s horrible. Where have I defended Garrett?

The “leader” of the football team doesn’t need to point out how bad his teammate acted. It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong, you either side with your teammate, or as in this case, so your best stay out of it. “Inexcusable” should not be the headline from the Browns QB regarding the situation. We already know it’s inexcusable.

You know that Belichick actually apologized to the Bills head coach over Gronk's play, right?

“I understand. It was (expletive). I’m sorry. I apologize,” Belichick said to McDermott.

Mayfield:

“I don’t think there’s anything in that moment that I can really say to calm him down. The reality is he’s going to get suspended, we don’t know how long, and that hurts our team. We can’t do that. We can’t continue to hurt this team. It’s inexcusable,” Mayfield said.

...
He could just be saying what coach wanted him to. I don't know, just throwing it out there.

Maurkice Pouncey: Myles Garrett “absolutely” should be suspended for season

Pouncey said he “blacked out” and doesn’t even know what he did in the moments after Rudolph’s helmet connected him Rudolph’s exposed head. He said he’d accept any punishment coming his way because he had to protect his quarterback.

“At this point, who cares?” Pouncey said. “My man got hit in the head with a helmet. I’ll accept whatever penalty it is.”

the "I blacked out" defense....by the end of the year it will be a coast to coast phenomenon

Lost in all this brouhaha is the game itself SUCKED...that is the real problem the league should be addressing

Only because Pitt was missing all its wide receivers.

I think Garrett will be suspended for the remainder of the season, and that Pouncey will be get two games.

This was his last twitter post

Some Twitter posts y'all might be interested in. The following have commented. I'm sure there are others, but that's what I've got so far.

That was caught between the two of them at midfield in what was presumably a private moment...BB would never say that to the press. Mayfield talking to reporters. BB is also the coach...big difference.

BB is the team's ultimate leader, and on-field post-game chatter is obviously not private.

Wow. Myles Garret just made Vontaze Burfict looks like a Walter Payton award nominee.

I just can't agree with this take. I get where you're coming from, but I just think this is a different animal entirely. I would have said the same thing. Dude hit a guy with his own helmet after ripping it off him.

that would be a travesty in my opinion. People are arguing Garrett shouldn’t have retaliated on Rudolph coming after him, trying to rip his helmet off, and possibly kicking him in the groin. well then Pouncey shouldn’t have retaliated. Garrett took a swing but Pouncey punched multiple times and kicked. He should get as much penalty as Garrett.

Mayfield:

“I don’t think there’s anything in that moment that I can really say to calm him down. The reality is he’s going to get suspended, we don’t know how long, and that hurts our team. We can’t do that. We can’t continue to hurt this team. It’s inexcusable,” Mayfield said.

I don’t care if Garrett knifed a guy on the field - Mayfield will never again (if he even ever has) be the leader of this locker room. No teammate should ever call out s player like this no matter what he’s done. Mayfield seems to say something stupid and controversial ever six seconds, but this one crosses the line. When Gronk delivered that elbow against Buffalo, did you hear Brady calling him out? Of course not. So easy to handle this question:

“Myles plays with a lot of passion...I feel like we all get caught in the moment and frustration spills over. I’m sure he knows that wasn’t his finest moment, and I support him as a teammate. I hope no one got hurt there.”

But he didn’t say that.

This dude is going to be out of the league in a hear or two. He is a terrible leader and teammate. He throws tantrums at reporters, fans of the team, and publicly calls out teammates. I’m guessing this locker room is going to be fractured from his presence, if everyone hasn’t just turned against him.

Gotta disagree here. What Garrett did is in the real world felony assault with a weapon. Him getting suspended for that hurts the team. I’m sure everyone in that locker room feels the same way. This wasn’t a garden variety dust up and Baker was correct in his statement. It also publicly sends a message to the team that it isn’t acceptable.

And thats saying something. Dude is a grade A psychopath.

Kitchens said Garrett ripping off Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph‘s helmet and bashing him over the head with it is far out side the bounds of what the Browns will tolerate.

“Of course that’s not who we want to be at the end of the game. That’s not who Myles wants to be. That’s not who we’re gonna be. You have to be able to maintain your composure in times like that. Under no circumstances do we want anything to do with anything like that. I’m embarrassed. Myles is embarrassed. It’s not good. He understands what he did. He understands it’s totally unacceptable and we have to get through it,” Kitchens said.

Asked what kind of discipline Garrett is looking at, Kitchens answered, “I’ve never seen that in my life so well wait and see.”
