Will the Pats be able to re-sign Jamie Collins?

Not if he is looking for big bucks. But this is exactly what he wanted, to revive his career in New England and position himself for the next 'big contract'. Doubt he takes a hometown discount to stay.

But Collins is definitely playing like a motivated man. Let him play for the big paycheck, at least we get to enjoy him for a year.

He's on the "Every Third Year Plan" - a relatively new phenomenon that is hallmarked by a player leaving for a huge contract. Only to come back to a team three years later when he's released from said huge contract when it exceeds the new team's willingness to pay so said player can try and resurrect his ability to get the next new huge contract.

This plan is also shown to have ever diminishing returns as that player ages.

No. Not because of money. BB’s former assistants will be giving him a lot of “love” and “respect”. They will be like “family” :).

Jamie "very athletic" Collins only have a History of playing well for a Particular Franchise. Yeah IF he ever test the FA market he should hear crickets. He's a sure Re Sign with the Pats he would even give us the old Hometown discount.
You would think his track record should raise red flags to other teams once he hits free agency, but we all know those dumpster fire organizations like the Jest that will continue to throw away big $$$ on certain players. Hopefully, Collins recognizes a good situation and prefers winning after cashing in at Cleveland. We'll see...

Jamie Collins???? Hometown discount after THIS year????? Uh no. But nice dream.

Not a chance. He’s all about the $$$. KVN is the guy we should focus on.

so you don't think that Van Noy is going to take big money somewhere else?

If Jamie got a big contract from the Pats, he would be doing backflips...

...literally.

Regards,
Chris

I really think Van Noy would suck elsewhere. We work around his inconsistent play extremely well in a way that most teams can't. So I believe he will be affordable and I would easily let him walk if demands are too high.

Collins is most likely gone if he continues to play the way he has. Most teams can't resist an all pro.

We will probably draft a lb relatively high next year.

I hope we draft a left tackle first. I'm not relying on Wynn's health. Brady is getting killed out there and could barely get any throws off against the Eagles. Newhouse as the Patriots starting LT is NOT a viable option going forward.

The open question is who will Josh be able to sign in the offseason.

Should be renamed "Will the Pats be able to sign KVN".

Multiple teams are throwing big money at him (SF, NYJ, Mia...) He's getting paid. If he prices himself outta here Idk but he's getting a sign contract.

Absolutely deserves it to. Top 5 defender on the best D in the league & been playing great since he got here.

we need to lose the rest of our games this season to get better draft position in the spring...otherwise it's all real real bad...as usual

He’s highly ovverrated. Offer a little bit over vets min. Let him walk if he doesn’t bite.
We’ve won without.

I have lost said the we should draft a certain position first. That shows a misunderstanding of the draft, and of the other off-season options to secure players. It also suggests that value should be ignored in the draft.

HOWEVER, I do agree that we should be drafting a LT in the first 3 rounds. This is a relatively inexpensive way to acquire an OT. We need a swing OT for 2020. We also need an OT for the future.

I have confidence in Wynn. We will need a replacement for Cannon in the next couple of years. Also, with Thuney almost assuredly gone, Wynn might be a good option to play LG, or at least be able to be a Plan B at LG if the LG acquisition doesn't work out.

I’m hopeful that it’s a possibility.

But I am fully prepared to see him walk. I’ve seen it too many times the last 2-3 years to think otherwise.

yes.....the draft must focus on players that minimize their chances of meaningful impact......that's only way you can find top talent in undrafted free agency
