I thought the kid did pretty good in his situation handling all those pressure kicks in a tight game. That last one he tried too hard but he'll learn from that.I'd keep him.

Speaking of Kickers..

With the Colts thinking about benching AV you can already almost feel the "we should sign AV" takes incoming.

Most probably from the same people that hated on Ghost for far fewer issues.

Unfortunately, AV looks like he’s toast. Otherwise, I’d be down to sign him for a year (should he be let go).

Are we just going to just forget that he made the game tying kick at the end of regulation?

Yes, yes we are. This is a last play league.

And that kick at the end of regulation really should've been the game-winner if SF hadn't failed on 4th/short earlier in the game and had just tried a FG there.

The entire game plays out differently if they get a FG instead of a turnover on downs. So his end of regulation kick likely never happens

Yeah not a good look, but that game was indoors, a place in which the Pats will play only once the rest of the season...Let's see how the Yung Ho performs outdoors...

AV knew he was done two months ago. The Colts should have let him retired like he wished.

Can he be any worse than Nick Folk?

I am sure he attempted more FGs in his time on the practice squad than he will in his next 3-4 years on gameday. It is fairly obvious that he didn't show much consistency in the elements so he was let go.

Not sure what more the team could have done.

Sometimes it comes down to roster spots. As much as there is a tendency to denigrate Gostowski he is better than most out there. Kamu Grugier-Hill, Jacob Hollister et al are other examples, they could not make an impact on this team so they went elsewhere.

Generally I agree.

With KGH we don't really know as he was cut in the numbers game right after his first camp. He might have developed here even better than with the Eagles if they had found a way to keep him around.

In this case I just find the idea that cutting Koo was a mistake just laughable. All that is based on a couple kicks he made in one game inside a dome. If he had been consistent on the practice fields of Foxboro where he kicked most probably hundreds of attempts he would have been the Nugent replacement. And if he was a consistent "gameday kicker" he would not have been cut by the Chargers in the first place.

It is rare that we get a situation where it is so blatant that a player just wasn't good enough based on a huge sample size and yet here come the naysayers.
