Really excited to see how he does. I loved the draft pick and was really bummed when he went on IR.
Hopefully he and Brady can develop chemistry fast!!

Jesus.

Interesting choice to bring Harry back before the bye while Sanu is still trying to find his footing. The team must really like his potential and think that he can contribute tonight.

I was rewatching SB 51 yesterday.

If he can give us a second half told the season like Mitchell that is all we need from him.

Mitchell barely played until the end either

1. They had to activate him yesterday by 5pm or else he was done for the year.

2. It don’t understand your logic on Sanu. They should sit Harry so that Sanu can get more reps and targets tonight? First of all, even if Harry is active (seems likely but we don’t know yet for sure) I doubt that will effect Sanu’s reps. Second, they drafted Harry to make an impact this year. Yes he is a rookie but he is also more talented than Sanu and has much more knowledge about the Pats offense.

If only one of the two could be active, I would pick Sanu at this point because of his experience, track record of production in more than one offensive system and the fact that TB12 has a hair across his ass when it comes to rookie WRs. That limit, however, does not exist, so if Harry has looked football fit and confident in practice, there is no reason to make him inactive tonight. He has big play potential every snap, given his size, strength and contested catch abilities. He may only see the field in 4 WR sets and in the red zone for now but when he is on the field, he will present a different type of challenge for the Ravens DBs and that’s obviously a good thing.

Tom Brady on N'Keal Harry: 'It's gonna be up to him to put the effort in'

Brady’s attitude when it comes to rookie WRs is really starting to annoy me.

Tommy, you seemed to trust Flash last year right away despite the fact that he didn’t know the offense and was out of shape (who can forget his long catch vs the Bears last year, when it looked like Cypher pulled the metal spike out of his head while he was still in the Matrix, once he hit the 10 yard line). In fact, you forced it to him regularly, often to the detriment of the team.

Stick that “he has to earn that trust” up your (probably waxed and bleached) arsehole and give Harry or Meyers a chance to make an impact, like the vast majority of QBs in the league do when it comes to rookie wideouts.

PS. Still love you, though, TB12. You da GOAT.

Yeah, I guess I should have leaned more in that direction with my language. I definitely approach each case with cautious optimism, and don't mind if they're not producing a whole lot their first year.

Even Edleman took awhile. Mitchell might be the only one to buck that, but that wasn't until the post season. I think that was his first year?

And while other teams have seen production from rookies, I think it's appropriate to say it's because we haven't drafted a top talent in a long ass time. But, also, I'm not sure many teams run the same offense as the Patriots WITH a QB at the helm that expects so much. I often find the "Brady Trust" a bit overblown, but he definitely expects a lot in terms of game knowledge and such.

Edelman had nearly 40 catches as a rookie when Welker was hurt. Pretty good for a converted option QB. Branch also had a similar season but was derailed by injury that year.

One thing worth noting is that there's been a general trend towards rookie receivers contributing more across the NFL in recent years - Ridley, Beckham, Hill, Evans, Thomas, Allen, Kupp, Juju, etc. all put up numbers previously only sniffed by Anquan Boldin, Terry Glenn, and Randy Moss. This year you've got McLaurin on pace for 60+ catches on a horrible team and a bunch of others on pace for 50 or so.

Probably a result of NFL teams introducing concepts more familiar to college ball, but also may be a sign of more sophisticated rookies. These aren't number 1 receiver numbers, but the Patriots have a number 1 in Edelman anyways. And hell maybe you end up with Harry having a season similar to Beckham, who only played 12 games his rookie year.

1) That isn’t true, which is likely the cause for your confusion. They only had to make him active by 4:00 pm yesterday if he was going to play tonight; otherwise, they had until Tuesday at 4:00 pm. So, let’s start there.

2) My point is simply that they could’ve decided to wait until after the bye to try and acclimate another guy who has never played, while they’re trying to acclimate the one who’s played a grand total of one game. That may have given them more time, and allowed a guy with proven knowledge of the system to see more reps. Apparently, they don’t feel as though that’s a concern.

I also pointed out how much they must like Harry’s potential and feel as though he can make a positive impact tonight, so don’t try and spin my thoughts into some type of negative against the decision. I simply stated that I found it to be interesting. Again, these comments are made under the assumption that Harry will play, which is not a given.

They had until Tuesday to activate him. The only reason to do it on Saturday would be because he is going to play.

Harry showed some sparks before the season had started. Letting Gordon to go means the organisation has high hopes on N'Keal. I do not expect much on him this season ( I hope I am wrong ) but it would be nice to see chemistry between him and Brady.

Also meant Gordon either didn’t take his job seriously enough for Bill.
Or they saw Josh was slipping into addiction again.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but Jim McBride had a tweet (sorry, no link) that quoted a "league source" that Harry had a 50% chance of being active.

I don't know what "league source" is supposed to mean. No one outside the Patriots would have any standing to speak about that, so I'm guessing McBride means someone in the organization who's so keen on speaking to the Globe that he'd risk losing his job.

Or perhaps it was a deliberate leak. In which case, can you trust it? Bill Belichick would never mess with Harbaugh's head now, would he?

We'll see later on!

When he had issues last year he got put on an exempt list didn't he and had to be reinstated. I don't think they put in so much time helping him to just let him slip again. I think they genuinely care about Josh the person but Josh the player wasn't getting it done.

I don't like all of the talk about Josh's personal life when we have no idea about it. And I don't mean to single you out, I've seen too much of it.

I am glad that Josh landed with a good friend in Russel Wilson. I don't know if Pete Carrol knows how to develop a support system for Josh which will be a life-long struggle.

He's already been practicing for two weeks now, so I'm not seeing the conflict you are seeing. If Harry being around is somehow impeding Sanu's acclimation, it's been happening all along.

Feeling oddly optimistic about this guy, right out of the gate. It’s probably the fan in me more than logic, but what are you gonna do.

We have to be able to draft a receiver at some point.
Plus BB has never taken one in the first round.
Hope he does his best TO impersonation on the field.

He’s going to be a really good receiver. I’m cautiously optimistic that he plays the last 9 games and produces. I’m guessing 30+ catches, 350+ yards and 4+ TDs. Maybe I’m too optimistic, but I don’t think that’s an insane guess that he gets those kind of numbers. I know he had some drops in training camp, but he has excellent hands and wins most of the 50-50 battles. Plus I think he’ll get great coaching, including by the receivers on the team, Sanu said he was giving him tips. We know Edelman was working with him in camp. If he can stay healthy, he can be a weapon.
