Should the Pats have drafted DK Metcalf instead of N'Keal Harry?

I’ve been on this forum for many years. If it’s one thing I learned, everything needs to be rainbows and sunshine here. You criticize BB about a draft choice, the forum starts an angry mob against you

Make reasoned, informative arguments and there would be no problem. Many of us are still pi$$ed at BB for SB 52. So you could not be more off-based with your whine.

Troll with lazy uninformed junk like 'We drafted the lesser teammate' regarding Sony Michel and people will make fun of you. Up your game or grow a thicker skin. It's a messageboard, tulip.

True, but both have shown good ball security thus far in their careers. Chubb has 3 fumbles, Sony has 2. Not enough for me to say that Chubb is fumble-prone.

Good point. I like the Chubb kid. Has his head on straight and he'll get over last Sunday. On the list of BB's draft mistakes, I would put Sony Michel far down the list........

Better question would be whether it would’ve been worth trading the 1st used for Harry and 2nd used for Sanu in exchange for Beckham back in the off-season. Pats reportedly had interest.

Sony has a bad knee or knees. Not expected to play for that long in the NFL. THATS why I would not have drafted him. I said as much when the team did. That being said he did contribute mightily to the Super Bowl run and victory so you cannot criticize too much. Can Chubb catch the ball out of the backfield? Sony can't.

Here come the rejuvenated "we need stars" AB folks! :p

I"m still working on who we should have drafted instead of Ellis Hobbs.

Hey, haven't seen you around on here much lately, Nut. You've been missed!

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, Triumph!"

Seriously, the Sox had a GM press conference yesterday - - don't you have other things to do?

Here’s the issue fans including myself have.

Our scouts heavily watched the Georgia Games during the pre draft process. How could they not see Chubb was clearly the more gifted of the two?

But was it that clear? I did a Google search and checked some of the draft websites and there absolutely was not a consensus of opinion over which was better. Two sites had Michel as the #2 RB and Chubb 5th. Some had Chubb ranked just ahead of Michel. One site basically had the players reversed from what they've become in the NFL so far. Michel was the big play guy and Chubb was the guy that would get you 5 or 6 yards and occasionally rip off a 15-20 yarder.

I know some people on the board liked Chubb more when the Michel pick was made, and that's fine. But it isn't genuine to now act like the decision was so clearly obvious to every single person except for Belichick. If it were, Chubb would have been taken before pick #31 anyway.

Come back to me in 4 years. Then I will answer

It may very well turn out that way, even in the draft they were generally considered to be roughly equivalent prospects to it's pretty much a coinflip as a starting point. But I have two opinions before I can really even entertain the debate.

1) Metcalf would not be as good here as he is in Seattle. He's notably raw, basically only runs a couple routes and I really doubt he runs any option routes, and Seattle is making the most out of that largely because they don't have anyone else who can physically do what he does.

2) Let's see Harry play before we bury the guy. He was durable in college, there's no reason to think his being IRed was indicative of an inability to stay healthy. Metcalf was the one with the alarming injury history (serious foot and neck injuries in college). Harry will be on the field soon, and only then can we even start to evaluate him based on actual performance.

Regardless of system, team , etc Nick Chubb is the much better RB than Sony Michel.

“Tulip”

Lol really good one

This is all true, but one thing that I do think is fair to say is that I think it was pretty hard to watch Georgia games and come away with the conclusion that Michel was better than Chubb. What especially stings is that one of the few arguments you really could make for Michel: versatility, day-one utility in the passing game, hasn't panned out thus far in their pro careers, and has actually been a problem so far in Michel's pro career.

Granted, as to your post a lot of experts did seem to think that so I guess I'm just missing something, but to me at least it seemed pretty clear. I'm also wrong about this stuff all the time though, so "it seemed pretty clear to me" probably isn't worth much. I'm sure they saw something I didn't.

Come on. Chubb would have easily done everything Sony did plus more, not to mention the next 5 years where we could have had circa 2004 Corey Dillon level production

You have no idea what Chubb would have done in the playoffs. And at the rate the Browns are going, we may never find out.

There’s been plenty of players who crap their pants and disappear in big games. Sony didn’t and I’ll bet that has something to do with why BB drafted him.

I love Chubb, he was my first round pick in fantasy this year but no way would I go back and change anything. Sony helped us win a SB and that is forever.

Our OL sucks this year. The amount of piling on Sony has been ridiculous since day 1. Probably the same people who shyt all over James White his first couple years.

You wouldn’t trade out Sony for Chubb right now?

Agreed. It's not like Bill drafted a bust here. Is Sony going to be Curtis Martin or Corey Dillon? Probably not, but he is quite good.

Right now? Yes. But it doesn’t work like that. Would I trade the SB we won last year for Chubb? No way.

We still win the SB last year with Chubb. He would have ran ape **** through all those holes, maybe a few 200 yard games
