In addition to just enjoying my team's success, there's another reason to root for SB titles.

I love the Pats and their excellence. I am generally disgusted by the NFL: how it is owned and controlled by grossly under-qualified people, and the perpetuation of the old boys club of coaches, and the indecency that allows Goodell to act as he does, and how the players bargain away basic human dignity in return for a larger % of the revenue.

The NFL's success depends on fans believing that their team has a chance every year, or is at least building toward that opportunity. This is essential to the relationship between the fans and the teams. Lose that belief, and the foundation of the NFL's popularity goes with it.

Every Pats' division title, every AFCCG, every SB strengthens other fans' beliefs that the League is rigged, that it is fundamentally unfair, and that they shouldn't invest emotional energy in their team. They lose faith in their team's coaches, owners, management, and players.

It is in that spirit that I wish only for SB titles. The regular season record is just details. I'm not proud of enjoying other fans' schadenfreude, but it is what it is.

Except for Jets' fans schadenfreude. That's an entirely different topic.

So you don't like the NFL?

I heard that he killed one and tried to kill another, but Marvin Harrison had already killed the second one.

Harrison is lucky that he didn’t play for the Patriots because then it would be common knowledge that he’s a murderer. The media would have seen to that.

While 19-0 would be amazing.

Next 2 SBs means

10 AFCCG in a row
7/10 SB appearances
5/10 SB wins

Decisions decisions.

2 Rings = 2 blissful off seasons of glee, 18-0 means an excruciating two weeks of watching the Tyree helmet catch. On to Cleveland.

After Brady retires get Mahomes and go 19-0 twice in a row :p

Seriously- never thought anyone would tie the Bills with 4 conference championships in a row and here we are with a decent chance of doing that

This thread is like wanting your cake and eating it, too, but the cake is a wedding cake and it’s your wedding and you’re having a threesome on your wedding night with the actual man/woman/?/+/Q of your dreams after eating the wedding cake.

Mods ban this jinx thread!

Either one has merit. Obviously, I want to win the SB every year. I'd absolutely love to seal the deal on an undefeated season, however. I don't think I'd ever get tired of looking back on the year with pride and joy.

You take the guaranteed SB titles over everything else. 8 SB titles. Threepeat. Greatest dynasty in NFL history. I won't look at the hypothetical 19-0 Pats as a more successful team than the previous SB winners. A SB win = A successful season. Don't care if you were 18-1, 19-0, or 12-7.

19-0. That, and a SB blowout, are the only things left on my Patriots fan "bucket list". I can live without them, but, oh, the nirvana-like sense of completion with

2 Rings = 2 blissful off seasons of glee, 18-0 means an excruciating two weeks of watching the Tyree helmet catch. On to Cleveland.

So to avoid watching the "Tyree helmet catch" of the future, the Pats need to enter the SB at 17-1. I'll take that and two SBs.

just stop....

I honestly think they will go 19-0 this year. The schedule is soft and I doubt Mahomes will be fully 100% at any point this year. So let's be the first team to go 19-0 and 3peat.
you think at balt and hou is soft? Next 6 games are all not going to be easy and pats could lose to any of them

I'm doing future me a solid and going with the multiple superbowls. The joy of an undefeated 2007 wouldn't trump the combined joy of sb 49&51. In this scenario quantity does indeed trump quality.

They give up freedoms as human beings and as employees in return for a higher percentage of the the total revenue (which determines the cap, which determines how much total $$ the players get).

19-0 without question

After 6 rings, I’m ready for something new. 19-0 is the only thing left undone
Perfect way to end the Brady and Belichick duo.
