Gordon to IR

Don’t kill me for this but Dorsett feels like Amendola light to me. And not too light. And sans the pesky parking spot issues.

Seriously though, Dorsett is clutch, can stretch the field, and doesn’t have the dropsies. I’m been defending him for about 14 months now.

Dorsett is also a good blocker.

He was not beating his CBs. Unless he heals up, I think average CBs could do a good job covering him. The offense tried so hard to design plays for him, at times employing illegal pick plays to get him open. Gorden is not a threat this year and BB has seen it on film. I suspect BB and McD have concluded that he was part of the offensive woes the team was experiencing.
What are the rules of this type of IR? Can the Pats resign him if he clears waivers if he is released with an injury settlement? I am assuming he completely heals up. Or are there rules against that?

If you believe that then you clearly haven't been following the Patriots that long because Rape and Sexual Assault have ALWAYS been no goes for this organization since the Krafts purchased it.

You're on a pretty short leash with murder too.

No. Harry is practicing but not counting for a spot. Next week he will count and they need the open spot for him.

Actually, they need to fill the roster spot due to the 3rd year players on the PS. They'll make another change next Monday if they decide to activate Harry.

Stories so far say Pats are going to release Gordon once he is off IR. What would be the benefits of the release? Why release him and not just keep him on IR and wait for next year?
Cap space?

IR, you pay in full
Release, maybe not

Can someone explain the logic in this?

I don't understand why we are releasing him? However one of you guys may have seen something on tape or have an idea.

Trading DT now seems a bit premature. From what I saw on Monday, he was balling whenever Darnold did not throw the ball t0 a Pats player!
He still has sometimes left, we could have used him
What game were you watching?

3 catches on 9 targets. 2 drops.

Shouldn’t there be a police report accusing the player of either of these things first? Or is it just enough for the colts organization to “say” we deflated footballs? We should just take people’s words for it?

What others have said is that they don't feel that Gordon was producing as expected. If it's true that he's been playing with two bone bruises in his leg to this point, I would think that would throw off your production.

There could be any number of reasons why BB has made the decision. It's not the first time he's parted ways with a "big name" WR in the middle of a season.

Bronn hasn’t bitten them yet...but Gordon just may. Man I wish I knew what they were thinking.

There was a lawsuit for the first one. And then there was the accusation in the SI article for the second. Along with Browns reaction when it came out.

Kraft has the right to run his business the way he wants. And he's done so for 25 years.

"...stint in New England playing 17 games, with 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns."

He has played hurt during some games, but overall he produced while with Patriots. I don't know why some people here is crapping on him...

Thought this might be a good take on reddit, if accurate:

We wanted the old Josh Gordon, the one we signed last year that could stretch the field with his speed....not the guy who spent 6 months in the weight room bulking up, putting on 30lbs of muscle to become a possession receiver that showed up this year.

He's good at it, just not what our team needs and not what we signed him to be. We'd get rid of Edelman too if he showed up looking like James Develin next year. That's not why we pay him.

Harry is not Gordon... Believe that.

Belichick disagrees. He also thinks Meyers is better for the offense than Gordon.

I know people were hoping '13 Gordon would emerge but he isn't that guy anymore.

I’m not seeing a problem with TDs and first downs either. My issue are those catches where he seems like he has to summon every fiber of his being to catch a ball and can’t seem to then stay upright and run. And there have been multiple catches that fit that description.

Look, I like the guy, he is who he is. But if people wonder why he doesn’t get the love, that’s where I’d start.

53 of his 243 yards are YAC, which means that he's averaging just under 3 YAC per reception. That's certainly nothing to write home about, but a lot of that is a product of the routes he's given to run.

And Football Outsiders is liking what he's doing:

WIDE RECEIVERS 2019 | Football Outsiders

So, if people want to ***** because the WR3 doesn't get more YAC even as he's producing first downs and TDs, let them have at it, I guess.

It’s plain to see Gordon isn’t getting separation. Everything is contested.

You Too bad it didn’t work and let’s hope he continues to mentally be in good shape.

I hope that this is the plan. If he has to go through waivers, unlikely that a WR needy team like Balt or Texans (with Fuller nursing a severe hammy injury) would pick him up. Packers would be another possibility.

Who knows if he would of gotten over his hump but hopefully he's back next year for the low, till then no concerns

Edelman
Sanu
Harry
Dorsett
Meyers

That'd work if we have a top 10 TE. It might work if we had a very good OL and better running game. But as it stands right now the O will still likely be good but a potent D is needed more this year than in recent memory in terms of complimentary football.

Oh he will get healthy and come back at elite level with another team for sure.....IF he stays clean...if he can do that and plays for a contender....will come back to bite BB
That is a lot of IF’s
I think we will be fine without him and I wish him well.
