Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

You know, Sanu isn't a bad on-field role model for Jakobi Meyers. A receiver with good size and excellent hands but not a ton of speed who makes his living underneath with savvy route-running, strong blocking, and all-around football IQ.

Here are their respective draft-time measurables:

If he is over his injury and if BB thinks he can add value, Cajuste could be activated right now.

At this stage in Gordon's career I'd place him in a similar but not identical category, mostly because there have been multiple moments this year when Meyers made a catch and I initially thought it was Gordon just from the way he moved around. For that reason I consider Sanu a great candidate to slide into the Gordon role while Gordon is out (seems that Meyers was that guy before the trade).

Great to have that kind of depth.

So if we add Sanu and Harry returns. Which WR is out? Myers may be the odd one out.

0% chance Meyers is the odd one out. Olszewski would be IMO Especially when Harry can return punts

Be interested to see how they were able to fit Sanu and Bethel in with the salary cap at 2.5.

Not a chance. More likely it won't be a WR at all.

Ability? Yes, but I doubt they are letting their 1st round pick who has yet to be on the field return punts. I would rather see Bam Bam Bolden do it if Gunner is cut.

Especially when they didn't have him on PRs much in camp, either.

If Gunner goes, it won't be because Harry took PR duties.

So how did they fit Sanu into the cap? Did Atlanta do a restructuring as part of the trade?

TB's been building a very good rapport with Mr. Meyers lately. It would be the zenith of foolishness to hamper this relationship.

Meyers has great hands and attacks the ball. Absolutely love watching him play. Undrafted? Wow.

Pretty excited to see this kids ceiling to be honest.

I don’t think we know the answer yet. I think Sanu’s remaining cap charge this year is in the $3.5m range and Miguel’s Twitter header shows $2.9m in space prior to this move, so clearly something has to have been done. Either with Sanu or with someone else.
