Ravens release cornerback, special teams ace Justin Bethel, citing need to keep draft pick

“Judgment has to be made for the future as well,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh, who called the compensatory system “funky,” said at his weekly news conference Monday. “That’s tough for us because, I told him, I think he’s the best special teams player in the NFL, and he’s playing that way. So that’s going to be a blow, and we’re going to have to find a way to overcome that.”

In the Johnathan Badmosei role from a couple years ago.

Bye Richards. Hopefully LaCosse and Richards.

LOVE this signing, glad they didnt let him leave his visit! Also fun to stick it to the ravens!

Bring back Harry shortly, and need three roster spots.
Clearly best, financially, if it's a release, not IR, where it's not a guaranteed veteran salary.

How high is this pick they are saving? Seems like a dumb move by the Ravens.

BB will always be interested in a special team ace like this

Richards is the only player who should be cut here.

This was an excessively stupid decision by the Ravens. Not only do you weaken your own team but you just made the top dog in the NFL that much better.

Bethel is 29. Five years younger than Slater. Multi-year deal?

We are refueling at this point....

I’m sure BB had an “accident” as soon as Bethel was released :D
