Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

Wasn’t it reported that Gordon “dodged a bullet”??
I hope he isn’t headed to IR. If so, huge blow to our receiving corp.
I was at the game. I am up higher but someone in our section said Gordon was riding the bike and that was in the second half after the injury. My guess is if he came out to ride the bike his injury does not seem IR type but who knows

I don't like giving up a second rd pick. That's too much for sanu. The only justification for giving up so much is the player is signed for another year. I would prefer sanders. But he has some injury concerns.

I feel like the Pats are mimicking an NBA team. They can go small with Edelman, Burkhead, Dorrsett and White or BIG with Sanu, Gordon and Harry. That is a big receiver package in the endzone.

You're talking 6'2 - 220; 6'3 - 225 and 6'2 230

Who needs a Tight End...?

??? Aside from a few ticky tack (probably correct, but ticky tack) PI calls, Thomas had 3 catches on NINE targets, for a whopping 42 yards.

Spoken like a true homer :D

He was open on those "few" PI's.

One call was legit the other...iffy. DT didn't impress all that much. His drop was catastrophic.

Casual lurker here must think that this draft pick is coming from fan's pockets.

& before GoodL utters “.. Dolphins select..“ BB will have this #64 back

Mohamed Amendola?
Danny Sanu?
Danhamed Sanudola?

Regards,
Chris

With Sanu I have them at 54. So who gets cut?

Richards? One of our 4 TEs? Frankly Watson makes Izzo redundant.

We need two roster spots to add Sanu and Harry.

SOME CHOICES
1) Izzo
2) LeCosse to IR
3) Gordon to IR
4) Bennett traded
a special teamer

wow. didn't know Eric “don't know where to line up or what to do“ Tomlinson could make such an impression

btw Izzo is the only TE that can actually block on the roster..

Not lately.

To be fair it is not like Tomlinson had much time to learn every responsibility.

It is like Brady said..

3. Sanu has been a quality professional his entire career. I'm guessing a pick in the early 60's was the price that it took to get him. Ideally one of the 3rd round comp picks would have done it, but the market IS the market.

Reminder: Sanu is under contract for next season as well at a reasonable rate for WRs ($6.5M).

The Pats got a 3 for a half-season of Collins and a 2 [+Brian Hoyer!] for a half-season of Jimmy G.

A 2 for Sanu might be slightly pricey, but not egregiously so.

look at the 2nd round WR's the Pats have drafted in the past 15 years...now contrast them with Sanu. Feel any better, B. Bawking Bawkleyfan?

2. Now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you how I REALLY feel. I worry that the fact that Bill felt the need to make this trade for this price, says more about where he feels Gordon and Harry are in their return to the team than the immediate need for a WR.

There are a lot of things that go into these decisions. Even with Watson and Tomlinson, the receiving capability of the TEs is significantly less than last year; it could be that after trying to get a GRONK-esque TE and failing, he went to the backup plan of trading for a WR.

Reports are that they tried to pry Howard away from the Bucs. Without trying to put Howard in Gronk's class by any stretch of the imaginati, I'll just note that Howard would have been a high potential TE. That's consistent with your take.

After watching several highlights of Sanu, I’ve softened my “2nd is too much” stance a little. From what I’ve seen, he has great hands, not particularly quick or fast but he creates separation with his very good route running. What stood out to me the most is the fact that he doesn’t shy away from contact whatsoever. It looks like he welcomes it. Quite the physical receiver.
