I’d rather have Sanu, he’s under contract, and is a little younger. I think he’s also a better fit for our offense
I think Sanders would have been OK but Sanu is:

Younger
More durable
Under contract an additional year
Cheaper

Guys we HAD to deal the 2nd (early 3rd) for Sanu due to competitive offers from other teams. Also, BB really wanted him and he’d most likely be in our plans for next season. In Bill we trust!

Relax.

Sanders is a FA next year that will command (probably) more than 6M ... I can live with Sanu and the extra cap space ...

Would rather have Sanu over Sanders based on the injury history comparison alone.

This Belichick guy has no idea what he's doing. He's got a long way to go in order to prove himself in this league. Jury is still out on this kid.
Def not saying that. Just to be clear

Sanders went for a 3 and the value of the 4th minus the 5th. The difference in trade cost for Sanu v. Sanders isn't all that much, and Sanu gives that second year.
Biggest point is that i think Sander is a better player... but sure, lets call the 2nd year thing a plus and call it even

Last year golden tate was traded for 3rd... the only WRs who were trade for more than Sanu in the last couple of year were Odell and Amari Cooper, who are, imo, significantly better/more upside than Sanu

In the end, i dont hate this trade or anything, he'll help. But it was an overpay for sure...

I believe Sanu's cap hit is $1.6m cheaper this year.

  • Jalen Ramsey went for a pair of 1sts and a 4th.
  • Tunsil/Stills went for a pair of firsts, a second, and players.
  • Sanders just went for roughly the same as Sanu, when he's only a half season rental.
  • A third from the Eagles is, in all likelihood, less than a round difference than a 2nd from the Patriots.

The notion that this was an overpayment of any real degree flies in the face of the facts.

Last 3 years:

Sanu 10 TD vs. 8 TD Sanders
1854 yds Sanu vs. 1790 Sanders
Catch rate 75% Sanu vs. 63 % Sanders

....

IK Sanders is the better player but what we need from Sanu he will deliver.

Yep. And I'm perfectly good with Sanu instead of Sanders, though I admit I really like Sanders as a WR.

49ers

Edit: They can have him. Sanu is the better option, IMO

What would you rather have given up?

2 for Sanu signed through 20

Or

3 and a 4 for Sanders and 5th FA after this year

Make no mistake about it Sanders is the better player he's more accomplished though longer in the tooth. That said I think we will Maximize Sanu's talents here he's a fine consolation though Sanders is my personal fav.

49ers all in. Wow

The only difference is in the quality of the Asset in return and this is at least somewhat subjective... I think Sanu isn't as good as any of these guys (even Sanders), but like I said, having control of one more year probably makes it even with what Sanders got.

Whatever. I know we are in going all in on those Brady's last years. It's fine - EDIT: If this was a 3rd rounder i'd feel happier i think. Maybe Im just cranky

I think our math is off a bit:
