Sanders is an expiring contract... Sanu is not.
And I believe he’s more expensive too.

I think Sanders would have been OK but Sanu is:I’d rather have Sanu, he’s under contract, and is a little younger. I think he’s also a better fit for our offense
Guys we HAD to deal the 2nd (early 3rd) for Sanu due to competitive offers from other teams. Also, BB really wanted him and he’d most likely be in our plans for next season. In Bill we trust!
Relax.
Def not saying that. Just to be clearThis Belichick guy has no idea what he's doing. He's got a long way to go in order to prove himself in this league. Jury is still out on this kid.
Biggest point is that i think Sander is a better player... but sure, lets call the 2nd year thing a plus and call it evenSanders went for a 3 and the value of the 4th minus the 5th. The difference in trade cost for Sanu v. Sanders isn't all that much, and Sanu gives that second year.

Last year golden tate was traded for 3rd... the only WRs who were trade for more than Sanu in the last couple of year were Odell and Amari Cooper, who are, imo, significantly better/more upside than Sanu
In the end, i dont hate this trade or anything, he'll help. But it was an overpay for sure...
Sanu vs. Sanders, tale of the tape
Sanu
- 6'2", 215
- 30 years old
- UFA after 2020
- career catch rate of 67.1%
- career ypc of 11.4
- only missed 2 games his entire career
Sanders
- 5'11", 180
- 32 years old
- UFA after 2019
- career catch rate of 60.8%
- career ypc of 13.1
- missed 13 games his entire career
Last 3 years:
Sanu 10 TD vs. 8 TD Sanders
1854 yds Sanu vs. 1790 Sanders
Catch rate 75% Sanu vs. 63 % Sanders
....
IK Sanders is the better player but what we need from Sanu he will deliver.

The only difference is in the quality of the Asset in return and this is at least somewhat subjective... I think Sanu isn't as good as any of these guys (even Sanders), but like I said, having control of one more year probably makes it even with what Sanders got.The notion that this was an overpayment of any real degree flies in the face of the facts.
- Jalen Ramsey went for a pair of 1sts and a 4th.
- Tunsil/Stills went for a pair of firsts, a second, and players.
- Sanders just went for roughly the same as Sanu, when he's only a half season rental.
- A third from the Eagles is, in all likelihood, less than a round difference than a 2nd from the Patriots.
I think our math is off a bit:Biggest point is that i think Sander is a better player... but sure, lets call the 2nd year thing a plus and call it even
