Some additional clarification on Sanders - apparently Denver is still hoping to win this year and may only trade him if the Broncos lose to the Colts this weekend (which is a given). Not sure why Elway thinks he can salvage this season...
According to Rapoport, Denver has already received calls on Emmanuel Sanders but hasn't wanted to part ways with him because it's still hoping to win this season. The 10th-year wideout has been producing at about his usual rate (30 receptions, 367 yards, two touchdowns) in 2019.

If the Broncos lose again this weekend against the Colts, they could become sellers.

Broncos, Falcons could be active before trade deadline

You'd have to wonder if Denver's (moronic) insistence on waiting to see what happens in their game against the Colts caused Bill to pull the trigger on Sanu with other teams waiting in the wings...

I suspect that it won't cost DEN anything to wait. Also, it isn't particularly good to tell the fans that you've given up on the season.

It’s complicated here because of his history with the franchise and the ownership mess, but any other GM with any other team in that situation has to try to win because the alternative is that everybody gets fired.

So Bill deals a second for Sanu and Sanders goes for a third and fourth for Sanders and a fifth...ick

We paid too much. Oh well...

With NE out of the Sanders sweepstakes, teams are willing to pay less to acquire Sanders now. SF can offer a 3rd or a 4th...

I’d rather have Sanu, he’s under contract, and is a little younger. I think he’s also a better fit for our offense

Yea I would've made the Sanders deal over the Sanu one but what the hell do I know?

I posted this before I knew about the Sanders to SF trade. I was right!

Not sure why your ripping Bill for dealing a 2nd when you were willing to deal a 1 for Sanders.

Im still kinda flabbergasted we traded a 2nd round pick for Sanu

This Belichick guy has no idea what he's doing. He's got a long way to go in order to prove himself in this league. Jury is still out on this kid.

Sanders went for a 3 and the value of the 4th minus the 5th. The difference in trade cost for Sanu v. Sanders isn't all that much, and Sanu gives that second year.

Well I guess mitigating factors, Sanu is younger, cheaper and under contract. Sanders is a rental. All good.

Denver probably wouldn’t have given us that deal

Guys we HAD to deal the 2nd (early 3rd) for Sanu due to competitive offers from other teams. Also, BB really wanted him and he’d most likely be in our plans for next season. The 2nd probably would’ve been another Jordan Richards anyway :D In Bill we trust!

Relax.

Why?

If you go to the trade chart, it will be like:

SF (26) 3rd + SF (26) 4th - DEN (12) 5th = (15th) 3rd round

So we paid a late 2nd and they gave a middle 3rd.

Sanu is younger, cheaper and signed for one more year. And maybe Bill thinks he fits in our scheme better. The extra year is key IMO.
