Schefter: Just based on the facts...Brady thinking/setting up to leave NE

This thread is insulting and ridiculous. I don't give a F about media speculation. Kraft will never let Brady leave under any circumstances. He's playing through age 45 and possibly even more. 46-47 would not even surprise me at this point. This freight train is not slowin' down anytime soon!

I wish folks would stop talking this way. If Brady ever played for another team I don’t know that I’d ever watch another NFL game. Honestly, it would break something in me. Fred Lynn was my favorite Red Sox player when I was a kid. I couldn’t understand how he could go play for another team and it probably took me about 20 years to be a Red Sox fan again.

I want to just enjoy this season and worry about it later. Instead it’s in our faces every day. Sigh.
Bobby Orr to the Hawks did it for me

could see brady going to Tennesee. Big market place out there Gizelle would love it

Brady is selling his house for over $30 million in Massachusetts. He could be sitting on that house for years. This isn't Los Angeles, Palm Beach, or Miami where sales this size happen all the time.

And he is also building a mansion in CT. That could take two or even three years to complete.

Brady is obviously moving on from his time in Massachusetts, but it may not be this year. And even if he moves to CT as quickly as this offseason, he would be living away from home next season whether it is with the Pats or say TN. The only teams he could commute from home in CT would be the Jets and the Giants and neither would be in the market for his services since both have QBs they are trying to make their QBs of the future.
Curious, you posted Brady will be building a house in Conn. Has this been reported?

I’m probably different from most in my feelings about this but for me, if after 19 years of unprecedented success here Brady wants a change of scenery for whatever reason I have zero issues with it and hope for the best for him. If anyone has ever deserved to end or change their career on their own terms no matter what it is Tom Brady.

From the perspective of the Pats, if this comes to pass after this season, I am confident they will handle it as well as anyone could when a player of that magnitude leaves. It’s not a close comparison of course but a current example is how the Colts have handled Luck’s sudden retirement. If you have a good organization in place you can go forward and find success. I think that will be the case as long as BB still enjoys his career, even if Caserio, McDaniels, and others leave for greener pastures also. Brady is quite possibly the best QB to ever play, so whenever he either leaves or declines the Pats will need to deal with it - and they will!

The stupid mediots both here in the Boston area and at the national level will get off on phony conspiracy theories and blame BB and RK no matter what. They should be treated as the spoiled juveniles they are and not treated as though their projected jealousy has any more value to us fans than what the legion of trolls that will descend on this forum will have to say.

Based on how the Pats/Brady changed the contract terms there is certainly a chance he would go. Big questions to me would be:
  • Where: assume Brady would want a championship caliber team that is just lacking a QB and has cap space - limits the number of teams - Chicago seems the most likely but NFC is loaded.
  • Off season: Brady has focused on family instead of team to rejuvenate - is that viable with a new team?
  • Money: Does Brady want guarantees and top dollar? Would BB be receptive?
  • Stidham: If Pats feel that Stidham is ready to be at least solid and that they feel they can take the cap savings and invest elsewhere maybe BB wants to take on a new challenge

To me: way too risky to move on from Brady. No one is more clutch and I think he should be there to finish out this run. Ideally he plays for another 2 years then turns the keys over to Stidham.

My odds:
80% chance he stays
5% chance he retires
15% chance he moves on

It almost happened in 17 but Kraft sees Brady like his son and told bill to trade Jimmy G. This was probably because they wanted him to retire a patriot.

Just media speculation. Like this piece of garbage.

If tax issues are the major concern, Conn. is a horrible choice to establish residency and live in a mansion.

You are thinking of the property tax. That's very different than the millionaire tax that MA is proposing.

This is as wrong as wrong can be.

Brady ain't leaving the Patriots until he retires. This is nothing more than speculation ********. Of course he's planning his retirement, but that doesn't mean he's leaving after this year for another team.

I keep hearing this.
Has anyone ever shown a shred of evidence of this?

I've seen "NFL rumors" … "my sources"...
But no facts, as usual

Tom can do whatever the **** he wants. He's earned that right.

I’ll be sad when Brady leaves, but it’s going to happen soon either way. I think the interview with Moss shows reflection how the end is close to being near and he’s coming to terms knowing he can’t play forever despite his love for football. He doesn’t give off vibes of retiring after this season. I still think 2 more seasons tops is more likely than not. It will be hard for Brady to let go because football is all he’s known since forever. I’ll enjoy the ride while I can.

Wonder if people will give him the same **** as Gronk for being so vague. Now is not that time but once the seasons ends he better say some more useful than that.
You just basically answered your own question in this post. I think it’s roughly 50/50 that he retires if he wins his 7th this season. That won’t be caught. I think retirement is the much more likely scenario than him playing for another team but of course I don’t know what things are like behind the scenes.

Him going to another team is still a longshot but I don't know why people think it's unlikely that he retires after this year.

I really hope he does. It would be a perfect storybook ending and something that would actually enhance his legacy- to go out on top and never look back. Seven is a perfect number, and from a biblical pointview, it's the day of rest.
