Vote for NE All-Dynasty Team

In some of the decisions it has to be.
Agree. But ultimately this should reasonably affect only 3 players: Mankins, Moss, and Welker. Looking at how good he was for how long and his competition at guard, Mankins should be a no-brainer despite the lack of rings. But it’s a fair argument for Moss and Welker. Personally I wound up including them (along with Jules and Troy) and leaving out Deion, but I really don’t like it. But I wouldn’t like it if I left either of Moss or Welker out either. I wish we could have gone with 5 WR here.

Why only 1 qb ?????????????

I don ' t understand...o_O:confused:

Not fair at all...:mad::mad::mad:

If you include backup QBs the position should go: Brady, Jimmy, Cassel

Went Bru, HT and KVN.

Mayo is almost a tragedy of a career. Arrived stayed exactly through the dry spell and then got robbed of winning multiple ones post 2014 by his injuries. Love him and I wish there was space for him despite it all.

Collins is a beast but the way he left the first time left a bad taste.

I voted Mayo on over Van Noy. Mayo was part of the championship roster in 2014, though he got IR'd. He played with a much worse supporting cast than Van Noy plays on, and those were arguably the worst defenses of the dynasty with him taking on a lot of responsibility just for them to be respectable (the peak of the bend don't break era that lacked talent on D.)

I do think Van Noy is better now, at his peak, than Mayo was, though again he is playing with a lot of other great players. I think if Van Noy stays in NE after this year, he'll surpass Mayo overall. Right now, he has been here for three years, while Mayo was for eight.

But I'm sure you have a much deeper understanding of their responsibilities and the linebacker position. I'm not a deep dive analyst on most positions.

Bledsoe would be considered part of this era, at least for a year or two. I'd go with Brady, Bledsoe, Jimmy G.

Like I said before I feel Mayo is a tragic figure in the sense that he ended up on the team exactly at the wrong time in a way similar to Welker except that Mayo's career was cut short due to injuries.

Ultimately it might not be fair because KVN ended up here exactly at the right time.

I can clearly see both sides of it and wish I could have put Mayo on.

I think WR was by far the toughest choice. Sorry to Kyle van Noy but Mayo edges it for me. Bruschi and Mr. February are a lock.

Troy Brown, Randy Moss, Deion Branch, Wes Welker and Julian Edelman.

Troy Brown was the easy one. Jules a SB MVP, miracle catch in another and overall the most clutch player not called Brady. I then went with Moss because he was the guy who really helped Brady to take the next step into the Goat and was just a beast. Deion Branch never had over a 1000 yds. Welker is the Peyton Manning of WRs.

Bledsoe would be considered part of this era, at least for a year or two. I'd go with Brady, Bledsoe, Jimmy G.
If they included Milloy (which they did) they should have included Bledsoe. Not that he should receive any votes, mind you :)

few tougher choices but most should be fairly obvious.

The toughest choice for me was punt returner. It was Jules vs Troy and I chose Troy.

My lbs were Bruschi, Hightower, phifer because they have 3 rings.

Toughest omissions were at OT, OG, and LB.

I don't see what's so tough about the selections.
Brady and 21 Troy Browns, done deal

For the results of a survey to mean anything objectively, the criteria have to be established at the front end, so everyone is voting as closely as possible within a set of guardrails.

In this case, we have many criteria reflected in the comments above, including:
  • How good the player was at their position
  • How many years he contributed
  • When he played (and thus, how many rings he was able to acquire)
  • His individual contribution to the team's success during that time (e.g. Butler vs. Samuel)
  • How recently he played (primacy-recency, plus some posters were very young during 2001-2004)
And probably others. The results of our individual surveys are a reflection of how we prioritize these criteria.

2 decades? Hard for me to pick someone who's been on the team only a few years or less.
Yeah, I have a hard time selecting players whose careers are better associated with other teams, ie. Moss, Dillon.

Apparently Thuney no longer plays on the team.

I would word number 3 differently because it sounds as if you are saying they have rings because they happened to play in ring years (ie luck) rather than that they contributed to those rings.
I valued the rings highly in my selections because to me the championships are what makes the dynasty. If Moss, Welker, Mankins to name a few were never Patriots we would have the same 6 championships and the same dynasty.
