2 decades? Hard for me to pick someone who's been on the team only a few years or less.

What about Gilmore or Moss though?

I picked L. Milloy.

Who is Roberts?

Why Samuel over Butler, assuming you’re not considering Revis due to just one year? I don’t see a strong argument for Samuel over Butler though.

I ended up picking a few short-timers...but in general I chose longevity. The only head scratcher for some is probably Blount....I believe he played longer then Dillon and has more rings. Close call though.

Van Noy is probably toughest.

I'd probably have him. Such a gem.

So, I went for Trey Flowers over Ty Warren, just based on impact. Both have 2 rings.

Edge guy decision was surprisingly tough but I went for Ninkovich over both Colvin and Chandler Jones (I was actually surprised to see that Colvin played for the Patriots for that many years).

I knew the LB decision would be tough, but I had to leave Jerod Mayo and Phifer on the outside as I went with Van Noy over them.

Malcolm Butler over Darelle Revis (because Butler's not a mercenary), Logan Ryan, and Asante Samuel (because Butler made the game winning play, & Samuel didn't).

Milloy over Chung. So sue me.

RB was the 2nd hardest position. I did not like leaving Shane Vereen out for what he did in the Seattle Super Bowl. Antowain Smith would have been my fifth choice, but Dillon, James White and Faulk are all deserving.

WR was the hardest. I left off Moss (he had 1 1/2 good years here, though one of them was great), Givens and, gulp, Welker. I know Welker is arguably a better WR than Edelman, Amendola and Troy Brown, but there is no way Edelman and Troy Brown would ever be left off my list. Amendola over Welker was tough, but I went that way because of the clutchness of Amendola. These WRs were integral to winning multiple Super Bowls. Deion Branch was just stellar, the best Patriot WR of the first decade of the dynasty.

Gronk at TE, but the second best TE of the era isn't even alive anymore. Maybe that's why he wasn't listed? Why wouldn't you list him?

Neal, Mankins, Mason at guard. We have not had many good guards, apparently.

Andrews and Koppen over Woody.

Surprised there was no mention of King as a special teamer. He has been more of an impact guy than Antwan Harris.

LB - Hightower
LB - Bruschi
LB - Mayo
CB - Law
CB - Gilmore
CB - Revis
S - Harrison

K - Gostkowski
P - Allen
KR - Branch
KR - Lewis
PR - Amendola
ST - Slater
ST - Izzo

Notes:

Used both KR and PR on players that I really wanted (Branch, Amendola, Lewis) but just missed out on their position. Edelman is obviously a better PR than Amendola and Patterson better than Branch or Lewis.

Ninkovich may not be a popular pick, but I just like him and think of him as a Patriot moreso than some other objectively more skilled players. He was a team first player and had many clutch plays. Same with Flowers...a lot of critical clutch plays.

Toughest decision was Revis vs. Butler for CB3. Revis only played one year, and Butler had the greatest play, but I still went with Revis, who was the #1 best CB in the league. Could be convinced to change that one, as it kind of contradicts my last point.

Gostkowski over Vinatieri is also a tough call, so I’m just going on bias as a tiebreaker. Gostkowski is a lifelong Patriot and has been tremendous. Vinatieri can make the Colts team.

Interesting you chose Thuney over Neal

.... Deion Branch is the best Patriots WR of the dynasty. He cannot/should not be left off of anyone's list. I know that he was not great in Seattle, but he was in sync with Brady for a slew of 15 yard gains like no other.

Revis doesn't belong on a NE All-Dynasty team. Sorry, guy was a Jete first mercenary.

LOL sorry I meant Trey Flowers not Roberts. IDK why i typed that. Yeah i didn't pick any players that were only here one year. As for why Samuel over Butler that is a bit hard to explain.

Butler made arguably the biggest play in Patriots history and helped them win a championship. He was very solid in 15' and 16'. That being said in 17 he regressed pretty badly. While I think they should have played him vs the Eagles he had fallen off by that point and maybe been figured out. I like him. He's scrappy as hell. In the SB against the Falcons he did a good job but he wasn't asked to do the hardest job. Rowe was on Jones and had the best playoffs in that run of the CBs on our team. Butler is a good CB but limited and match up based. He made that one great played at the end of SB51. Besides that no other notable plays stick out for him or amazing performances stick out.

Samuel was our #1 CB in 04' after Law went down. Like Butler he was a young player thrust into a role and asked to make plays. He was a big reason why they won in 04' and did a lot to help keep them competitive in 05, 06 and helped them go 16-0 in 07. He was good all of those years and made huge plays in all those runs. That pick 6 against the Colts in 06' was huge and almost helped them get to the SB again. He had several interceptions and multiple scores during his playoff runs. Not to mention he did it against very good WR and QB combos.

Bottom line: In the playoffs Samuels played against P. Manning x 2 , Big Ben x 2 , McNabb, Rivers x 2, E. Manning and a bunch of top end weapons on those teams. Butler played against Wilson, Old Man Manning, Matt Ryan and a bunch of meh QBs. He rarely had to face the top options of the other team like Samuel did.

I think that matters and needs to be graded when looking into each player.

Revis doesn't belong on a NE All-Dynasty team. Sorry, guy was a Jete first mercenary.

But it's a nice symmetry to have three SB Champ, First-Team All-Pro cornerbacks all wearing #24. Your move.
