NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Chiefs @ Broncos game thread - (Updated) Reaction to Mahomes' Injury

Id be suprised if kc is not 5-4 after the next 2 games. So even if Mahomes comes back and beats us, kc wont be overtaking us.

Houston, colts, Buffalo and maybe Baltimore are the only mild threats but I doubt any finish better than 11-5 or 12-4.

Im sensing another 2007/2010 where hfa is wrapped up with weeks to spare.

I wouldn't overlook the Bills. If their offense comes around they could be tough..

I was looking at the Ratbirds remaining games. They could easily drop 6 of their next 7 (at Seattle, at Rams, at Buffalo, at Cleveland, NE and Houston at home).

I think that either Houston or Indy could finish strong. Outside of our game at Houston, I don't see much when I look at their schedules.

Am I forgetting someone? Oh yeah, the 3-2 Raiders. We don't have to worry about them though. I put a 25 year curse on them in early 2002. It seems to be working.

I would never wish for an injury on any opposing teams players or celebrate a serious injury but I’ve also never understood the mindset of opposing fans who say “I hope he comes back as soon as possible. He’s good for the NFL.”

F*CK
THAT

As long as the injury is not career ending or threatening, I always want the player to be out for as long as possible. I feel badly for Mahomes, kind of, but I hope that he stays away for as long as possible. Rival team’s Player X aggravates a hamstring injury or turf toe and will miss at least two more weeks? Excellent.

I am laser focused on what is best for the Patriots and a Chiefs team that is led by Moore/Henne/Eli is a good thing for them. I also dislike the Chiefs fan base.....most of you would feel the same way if you checked in on their message boards from time to time. I thoroughly enjoy any NFL-related mental anguish that they endure.

Their boards are rife with neck beards and inbreeding for sure

Seems like you’re rattled and losing your ****, Karl Marx. I’m so shocked someone with that avatar gets angry, outright lies, and uses curse words when there’s a disagreement.

No, I just think you're engaging in baseless speculation to try to blame a freak injury on Andy Reid's coaching, something you clearly have no expertise to evaluate and as totally baseless as your insane Garoppolo "theory" in that other thread. You seem to have mistaken this board for a fanfiction forum.

Whats surprising is that some people dont see the protections afforded QBs when passing in lieu of running.

Passing, Mahomes can throw the ball away to avoid contact. Move out of pocket pressure. Run out of bounds. Slide feet first ending the play. Referees are focused on protecting the QB. In this scenario Mahomes has options to protect his legs.

Mahomes is a Running Back on a QB sneak. Head first surely to receive contact. Lineman routinely get pushed back and trip on the body behind them. Ive seen Lineman injured numerous times [usually their legs.] because another Lineman fell on them.

Sneaks are a lot more dangerous to linemen than quarterbacks. But that's true of every play. Guys rolling into other guys' legs is the most dangerous thing in football in terms of long-term injury.

Last night was the first time I ever saw a quarterback injured on a sneak and it was just a freak knee injury like a basketball player might get jumping and landing.

I would not have risked Mahomes injuring the ankle more going for it on 4th.

Just kick and take the 3 points early in the game.

I would rather play the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes healthy even though it gives them a better chance of beating us.

We will still beat them and bring us one step closer to "Yeah but he never beat Brady" as part of his legacy.

I should have written that caveat....I do want Mahomes to be healthy again for the Patriots game week 14, which is likely a given unless he has a setback. Not only do I have tickets to that game and it will make it much more interesting but I agree, I don’t want hear any excuses from the Chiefs fan base.

Maybe I would feel differently if the Patriots weren’t favored to win the Super Bowl again and if the Brady window wasn’t close to slamming shut, in which case enjoying well-played football and watching gifted superstars on rival teams make incredible plays would be more important to me as an “average fan”, but for now it’s all about a 7th Lombardi and I’m fine with the easiest road possible to the SB....the Curly Haired Boyfriend and his tomato cans can eat my arse. I’m the type of Patriots fan who won’t watch the Super Bowl if the Pats aren’t playing in it. I don’t have an “NFC team”. There can be only one.

This is just dumb 20/20 hindsight Monday Morning quarterbacking stuff. Brady has called his own number on sneaks when hobbled and not had his knee explode. There's no more risk on that sneak than any other play.

what the heck was that belly hop by Reid after the Hill td???

It was a stupid decision by a stupid Head Coach. 2 weeks ago Mahomes ankle was stepped on by a Lineman.

Mahomes never should have been put in that situation with his bad ankle.

Did you watch any of the second half of last night's game? Watching Matt Moore **** around on the field accomplishing nothing and being generally ****ty sucks to watch. Mahomes, in a vacuum, is fun to watch. Add to that that he seems like a good dude, and on both a human and entertainment level I don't want to see him deal with long-term injuries.

So yeah, speaking strictly in terms of AFC competition it would probably be 'better' for the Pats if Mahomes is out for the year, but for me at least that just doesn't outweigh the human element of "I hope this super-talented good dude who's worked his ass off his whole life doesn't have it all torpedoed by one hit". I get where you're coming from and I don't give a **** about the Chiefs organization or fans or the league office or whatever. But I am happy/relieved for Mahomes himself that he appears to have dodged a bullet.

Besides, have some faith in Andy Reid. When it comes time to face them in the playoffs, he'll find some way to **** it up.

while the bills are good, they’re still the type of team that can lose pretty much any game on the schedule. They almost lost to two completely pathetic teams (bengals, jets minus darnold) and a pretty bad team in TEN. Eventually their luck will turn and theyll drop a couple games they shouldn’t, plus a couple of the good teams. 11-5 at best imo.

the colts post manning , texans, ravens just have never proven to be consistent enough to be 13 win teams. And last year Houston and indy had embarrassing schedules iirc, still managed to lose 4-5 games. Not too concerned there.

Mutnansky is the biggest moron in sports talk radio in N.E. bar none...and THAT is saying something.

No question. I'd rather listen to a Hunter Biden investment pitch....

At least not my posts are interesting, “theories” included, whereby I outright ask people if they think there’s any validity to it. I post a shtload of factual information in here that I designate as factual. Meanwhile the JG thread is certainly a stab in the dark but has gotten a very interesting discussion going, with plenty of positive comments or at the very least a “interesting connection” but don’t think it’s true response. You seem to be a very angry person whose very core is shaken to its foundation by that guess about Brady-SF and criticism of Andy Reid, even though a large portion of commentators are also second guessing it. Why so mad? Personal stuff?

Also, do you ever add anything besides obvious vanilla comments, little four letter curse words at posters, and an extremely stupid avatar that makes you look like a buffoon? I don’t recall ever reading one of your posts and not feeling like I’ve wasted my time.

Jackass.

lmao that earlier "man I really got you riled" post keeps looking better with each one of these bruh
