Looking forward to reading this. A subject I can NEVER tire of!!!!!!!!!:p:p:p

It's amazing, but the way he explains it, it sounds like it should have worked. Either he's a great storyteller or they really screwed it up!

"They actually covered it perfectly because it's the New England Patriots."

It's actually a very enlightening explanation. And endlessly entertaining.

Pat is one of the best storytellers of his playing days. There's a YouTube video of him telling an incredible Austin Collie story that showed how much power Peyton really had.

Edit: And another about an aborted fake FG thanks to Troy Polamalu.

Regards,
Chris

I still believe they meant to do it!

"Lemme tell you about the time Peyton made Austin Collie geyser cerebrospinal fluid out of his ears..."

This inspired me to watch videos of dumb plays. Here’s one I had forgotten about.

I love Pat's software. I renew it annually.

I'd say throwing away a Super Bowl at the one yard line with 20 seconds left is dumber than whatever the Dolts did in week 6 of a game they were going to lose anyway.

Arkansas just tried to outdo the Colts.

:D

He is a really funny guy. I've listened to a few of his stories and they're always entertaining.

It’s funny how easy it was to guess the play from the thread title alone.

Just watched it, 7 minutes very well spent.

The Colts play was perfectly justifiable up until the point where they snapped the ball. Which came about because Pagano told a player something without telling his Special Teams coach.

It’d be awesome if the Pats ever ran this correctly and got a first down out of it.

That must have stung for you. Were you on the Seahawks bandwagon before the Chiefs bandwagon?

No I'm saying the circumstances make the Seattle play worse. Dolts were already down a TD in week 6 when they went ahead with that dumb play.

Obviously the weight of the plays are different, since one decided a Super Bowl. Did anyone really think otherwise?

The detail you’re missing is the Seahawks ran a standard high-percentage pick play that was a one of several appropriate calls in that scenario. The odds of an interception there are minuscule, probably even less than the odds of a fumble. It was the only INT thrown on the one-yard line in the NFL during the 2014 season. There was nothing wrong with the play call, especially considering the timeouts/time remaining factor. Lynch also did not score a goal line TD that entire season.

The Colts play was off the charts stupid. Not only was it asanine to have one blocker for three rushers, they also didn’t go out of shotgun. Oh, and it was a penalty for illegal formation which any pee wee coach would understand as the most basic concept in football, which is needing to have five OL on the line of scrimmage. I believe it was the worst play of all-time. Others have been failures due to execution; this was like a five year old playing around with magnets to randomly build a pretend formation, and an entire coaching staff failing to recognize the epic fail.
