NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Chiefs @ Broncos game thread - (Updated) Reaction to Mahomes' Injury

if Mahomes is not himself this year or even out, are the Bills/Texans literally our only AFC threats left?

or no

also "maybe" Colts?

The Ratbirds picked up a CB and could be a problem.

they are one of the teams that plays several of the other teams, so they are actually part of the good news. They won't win them all.

The Pats will beat them too.

It is possible the Pats will have everything locked up by the time the play the CHiefs or sooner.. As long as the Bills cooperate

The AFC is broken

I was counting on Denver to be one of the Bills' losses, now I'm not so sure. With that crappy schedule they could go 11-5 or maybe even 12-4.

Another awful Andy Reid game management decision.

Most memorable.

1 Letting the Eagles offense huddle up down by 2 scores in the Super Bowl. BB had to ask the the other Pats coaches if he was reading the game clock wrong.

2 Wining the coin toss last AFCC and deferring. Placing the Chiefs defense and worst unit on the field for 7 minutes. Later on the gassed KC defense would pay a price unable to stop NE.

3 KC up over the Colts by 28 points with 16 minutes left in the Wild Card game. Instead of KC running the ball and using all the play clock, Reid kept running the stupid passing plays he had designed. Colts win 45 - 44.

Makes no sense running Mahomes there. Its too easy to get stepped on or have a Lineman fall on you.

Hopefully Mahomes plays week 14, so we can see him fall to 0-3 vs the Patriots.

Don't care what happens to him after that.

So, are you also saying that it was incredibly stupid for Josh McD (or TB12 calling his own number) to run multiple QB sneaks for a 42-year-old QB nursing a calf injury in recent weeks, since for Brady it is also too easy to get stepped on or have a Lineman fall on you?

The Patriots do not reveal the extent of injuries. Mahomes clearly injured his ankle, but nice try equating the two.

Also, the Chiefs kicker is solid whereas Nugent is not. Pats are going to have to risk going on 4th downs.

Defending Andy Reid is comical though. Thanks for the laugh.

Reid is a terrible gameday coach.

He is notorious for challenging plays in big games and losing a time out. VS the Pats, an assistant coach snuck up behind Reid and took the challenge flag away from him. Reid almost always starts calling timeouts around the 4:00 minute mark of the 4th quarter.

Cowherd keeps on saying how easy the path to a SB for Brady is becoming with Luck retiring, Ben and Mahomes injured, etc.

That's pretty lazy of him as a sportscaster he should know that TB has an overwhelming winning record against those QBs.

I read last night that some people are anatomically more likely to dislocate a knee then others structurally. And that if it happens a first time re-occurrence is common.
May also explain why some posters are anatomically more likely to dislocate their brains on the GDT.

I get that “Reid” is a well known injury but what do we know about Brady’s injuries game to game?

I think dumping all this on Reid also assumes he got a straight answer regarding the health of the player from the medical staff and/or the player.

Maybe, but again I’d cite common sense. What the injury report was before the game doesn’t mean much when Mahomes is clearly, obviously in a lot of pain after each hit, limping around, from yet another damaging hit. Stats about QB sneaks being low risk injury plays are largely irrelevant here. RGIII’s knee blowout was a “low risk” play; Kevin Durant’s injury was a “low risk” play. Guys dealing with lower leg injuries should be avoiding getting smashed by multiple 270-300 linebackers/linemen. Common sense.

No one is to blame for Patrick Mahomes injury

Really? Because I remember saying out loud “what the **** are they doing?” on the QB sneak before I even saw Mahomes writhing in pain.

Andy Reid has no regrets for calling quarterback sneak

Andy Reid so predictable in defending every mistake he’s ever made. Cites low risk of injuries on QB sneaks, except most QB sneaks don’t involve QBs who are hobbling all over the field playing through a bad leg injury. Guy is a clown as usual.
Come on give Andy some credit, he did call that timeout with 0:05 left in the half.

Peters stinks. Less afraid of the Ravens now.

Don't you think Mahomes could have jumped someone in the MCL line at the KC hospital.

I wish some network had a live feed at the hospital to show how many media members are impatiently waiting for the results.
