Jalen Ramsey traded to Rams

dumb trade

The Rams love good CB's and will pay for them as history have shown. Seems like Ramsay have been in the League a while and will soon be 25 he's not even in his prime yet. I like the Trade for both Teams Ramsey is still very young.

Idk about Littleton. He was select to the pro bowl but as a STer no MLB ... And after that he signed a 1 yr deal worth 3.1M. I don't think he will get much more than that (5M).

If they give Ramsey less than 17M, he will have a lot of back problems next year... He will want to get paid. They used the same approach with Cooks. He signed a new deal even tho he had a 5th year option.

The problem about the Rams is not money IMO. They can free up a LOT of money (We can too). The problem is the main core is not worth the deals they signed. Gurley is not the same anymore, Cooks is a nice piece but IMO not worth 16M and Goff is not a 36M QB ... So their window will close someday but not next year.

Whitworth is like 50 years and Blythe is not good. I can see they making a play at one of our LB and Joey Thuney ... I hope the Pats lock them up before FA.

You're right about the ST designation, my bad.
But he was an RFA (2nd round after being an UDFA) coming off his first year as a starer. I don't think other teams were all that interested in giving up a 2nd rounder for him after last year due to various reasons. So he didn't have much of a choice but to accept the 3.1M this year. He should definitely be looking for much more next season if he keeps performing like this and last season.

I agree about the money. With restructures, the cap is almost never a problem. But as you said they've signed their core guys to big contracts that haven't really worked out in their favour (apart from Donald). But now they are kind of stuck with them while rolling guarantees down the road with their potential restructures.

Regarding the O-line, even if he's old, Whitworth is a good tackle. So it seems unlikely they can just easily find an equal replacement without a significant cap hit. What is even the LT market for next season? Pay a lot of money for a younger player, or another Whitworth stopgap older guy for also a lot of money?
Same kind of goes for Blythe, in that even if he's bad, there are not that many good guard out there that are even worth the big contract they're likely to get on the FA market.

And now they've given up two firsts for the privilege of paying Ramsey.

Ramsey>both talib and Peters at this point.

Heavy price to pay but he is an elite corner.

Elite corners get paid and you don't mind to do so. He is young and elite and could be there a long time. I think the Rams made a good move. It is a steep price with two years of first round pics though. Hopefully for their sake they play well enough that those pics are not high.

Eh. He's an elite corner. But he's been beaten by plenty of top receivers consistently throughout his career. This doesn't make the Rams SB contenders by any means. I get why they did it though.

Chiefs are really screwd right now. Either their offense puts up 30 every game or they may not even get a bye.

Why do GM's/HC's continue to make these blatantly TERRIBLE decisions in the NFL. And why do we, as mere fans, see this going wrong from a mile away?

Just like I did when the Bears sold the farm for Mack, I'm gonna say this is a terrible, terrible decision that the Rams will regret when they need to address any roster issue in the upcoming future.
I agree that this looks like an overpay on the Lambs' part...but in defense of Chicago's trade for Mack, didn't they surrender a little less capital than that, and for (IMO at least) a better player?

Edit: Trade details...Bears did give up a lot too...

No. 24: Chicago → Oakland (PD). Chicago traded first- and sixth-round selections (24th and 196th) as well as 2020 first- and third-round selections to Oakland in exchange for outside linebacker Khalil Mack and 2020 second- and conditional fifth-round selections.

I don't see the Patriots retaining Thuney but I sure hope we can keep Collins and van Noy. Both who still could have 2-3 good years left.

If he want o be the top paid LG i don't think they will .. but at 10 - 12m per i think they will keep him. Dude is a machine and can play LT too..

He refuses to play zone- that to me, makes him an one trick pony, not an elite corner. You always know what you are going to get with him. You can motion to stack on him or run trips to get him tangled up in traffic or even just crossers to shake him.

If it were me, I'd charge Jacksonville with daylight robbery.

Bill also needs to pay for/draft a starting-caliber RT next year...Cannon's running on fumes...

Good love the trade since it's not to a AFC contender

and had to sign him to an outrageous contract. 141 mil for 6 years. 60,000,000 guaranteed.

i think if you asked BB would he trade JC Jackson OR Jones for Ramsey straight up, he would say not and prefer to keep the guys who are close if not same level, and who play team D regardless if its zone or man and don't wimp out on playing time w/ "back issues" and hold out

I agree with you. I would Draft another T with our #1 pick. Try to trade Cannon for a 4th and get another developmental ST. Wynn Cajuste #1 Pick and the guy that we trade Cannon for. He is a nice T and has value (good contract, signed for 2 years) but we should upgrade.

The draft is the right place to secure an OT to compete Cajute for the role of swing OT, and compete to start in 2021. If the draftee is better than Cannon in his rookie year, than Cannon will be a backup.

I agree with your general take, and have fought against the notion that you need a first round QB to win the SB, partially for the reason you're pointing out. Here's the thing, though. You're talking about QBs taken outside of the top 10. But, when you look at the half of the lower position QB SB wins, you see the following:

Brady's got 6
Montana's got 4
Roethlisberger was taken at #11, and he's got 2
Other QBs (i.e. Starr (2 SB wins), Unitas (1 SB win)) were drafted back before drafting was modernized
You raise a number of really good points about using the Super Bowl wins as evidence. I'd be curious about where the cliff is for finding a good quarterback on average. Top 10 is an arbitrary cutoff, so maybe a little higher or lower when it comes to hitting the jackpot with a quarterback.

Apparently being traded has cured his back injury, funny how that happened.
