Jalen Ramsey traded to Rams

Better reconstruct Cooks, Whitworth and Donald's contracts or salary cap hell it is.

That's what an " all in" team does.

Think about that the next time you come up with an all in scenario.

I say that respectfully and without snark because despite disagreeing with you a majority of the time I think your posts are entertaining. Seriously.
I predicted a few moves trading for Gordon signing Jeremy Hill.
Drafting one of Stidham or Lock.
I think thats really it for the last 2 seasons.
I guess I can see both sides of the coin if you ask would I rather have Sony Michel and Nkeal Harry or Jalen Ramsey well I think every Patriots fan in there right mind would say Ramsey.
Its just we put such a value on first round picks but if your picking at the end.
The pick can easily lose its luster.

I don't think a sure thing exists any more. Tua...Trevor...I'm not a fan of privileged 1st round QB snowflakes. I want someone who has a chip on their shoulder...who doesn't forget what round they were drafted in...ever. Give me a QB who wants revenge...who works constantly at their craft. A QB that doesn't setting for 2nd best.

Give me that QB and a solid offensive line...I'll take him over the snowflakes...every give(en AND TAKE) Sunday.
I'm not sold on Tua. I am on Trevor, but I'm not betting any money on his success. Anyway, my comments were more about mocking the Rams on giving up their 1st round pick because it's all-or-nothing with Goff of all people leading the way.

Regards,
Chris

Plot twist: McVay is going to be the Jags’ HC next year. He’s just accumulating picks and shipping out malcontents now.

Why do GM's/HC's continue to make these blatantly TERRIBLE decisions in the NFL. And why do we, as mere fans, see this going wrong from a mile away?

Just like I did when the Bears sold the farm for Mack, I'm gonna say this is a terrible, terrible decision that the Rams will regret when they need to address any roster issue in the upcoming future.

Gilmore put up with like four different defensive coordinators, had to play for Buffalo, had Rex Ryan as a coach, and was totally misused. I didn’t hear him groaning and whining publicly for a trade, faking injuries, etc? Ramsey at least got some warm weather, one AFCCG appearance, and got to showcase his skills in a good defensive system (usually.). Guy couldn’t even play out his rookie deal without all the shenanigans? What a millennial b1tch. Put in your time with the team that drafts you and then you can go wherever you want. Seems like a whiny malcontent who will never be happy. My guess is this was more about the nightlife than winning games...just a hunch. Guys who really care about winning don’t act like that.

How does that team have any picks left to trade and any cap room?

peters makes a lot more than Ramsey. almost 2x as much.

The rams are idiots. 2 first round picks for a player that plays one side of the field. On the last year of his deal. lmao.

TWO 1st rounders and a 4th Rounder for a CB????

And all we could get for Jimmy G was ???????????

.
Yeah, a high second was a decent recompense for a back up QB with 5 quarters of decent film to base his future on.

Here's the thing. You don't get to use 20-20 hindsight to troll the fan base. It's a really bad look

Thoughts

-i feel like we have three CBs on our roster all better than jalen

-hypothetically, if we wanted to trade Gilmore then, we should be able to get more than two 1sts and a 4th??? I think other teams might be afraid of how they’d looked bad trading w pats so don’t do these extravagant deals w us

I can even see giving up all those picks, when you feel that they will be lower in the round. What I CANNOT understand is how you could give up those picks and not be sure the asset you purchased with them will be on the team next season.

That is just insane. 2 firsts and a 4th for a 3 month rental. They have given up total leverage to Ramsey. They will HAVE to give him the top CB deal in the league to keep him, and if they don't they will be a laughingstock. They will be the archetype top heavy team. All star power no substance. What a shame. I thought they had a good thing going there.

As an aside. Now we see WHY Bill has put in so much of his assets into DB's in recent years, to the point we have a kid who can't make the active roster who could start on a lot of teams. Our CB situation is the envy of the league. Great secondary play allow you a lot of flexibility to do all kinds of cool things along the front 7

I have to wonder if teams couldn't find a good to great quarterback taking a few of them from picks 10-40 and letting them fight it out. Too many top 10 quarterbacks go bust to insist on pursuing the #1 pick as the path to victory. I'd love to see a team tank, then flip that #1 to draft a few quarterbacks later in the 1st and into the 2nd along with depth at other positions through the boatload of picks you get for a #1.

Of the fourteen teams with a winning record, only two of their starting quarterbacks this past weekend were picks from the top 10. Those two would be Mahomes (#10) and Allen (#7). Mahomes is a once in a generation talent and he slipped to #10. Allen looks worse than many 3rd-4th rounders. Lower first round quarterbacks include the outstanding Watson (#12) and Rodgers (#24). Top 10 picks Newton and Trubisky are injured and did not factor into this tally. If they did, they would further demonstrate how top 10 picks are often no more successful at marshaling teams than those taken later in the first round.

I may have made a mistake in my going through the list, but it appears 26 Super Bowl winning teams had quarterbacks taken in the top 10. So roughly half of Super Bowl winning quarterbacks come from a lower position. I don't know if there is any logic to picking the marquee #1 versus dumping that overvalued pick for a bunch of lower ones.

I agree with your general take, and have fought against the notion that you need a first round QB to win the SB, partially for the reason you're pointing out. Here's the thing, though. You're talking about QBs taken outside of the top 10. But, when you look at the half of the lower position QB SB wins, you see the following:

Brady's got 6
Montana's got 4
Roethlisberger was taken at #11, and he's got 2
Other QBs (i.e. Starr (2 SB wins), Unitas (1 SB win)) were drafted back before drafting was modernized

So the numbers are a bit skewed by some outliers, at least one player taken right near #10, and some players drafted when the draft was nothing like it is now. That doesn't make your point wrong (QBs taken at the top win multiple SBs, too, after all), but it is something to note, since those who insist on first round QBs will throw at you.

What we see that does seem to play true is that it's more the number of QBs taken in a draft that results in an absolute 'bar' to SB success in the modern game. I've noted it before, so I won't go re-posting the data, but you're not getting a SB winning QB if he's lower than the 7th QB taken in the draft. That seems to be the magical cutoff for weeding out SB QBs, with the exception of Warner, who was undrafted*.

*It's possible that I'm forgetting another exception. People are welcome to look up my earlier post on the subject. I'm just not in the mood to do it at the moment.

Assuming the Rams pay Ramsey, the real problem I see with this is what do the Rams do in 2 or 3 years when Ramsey won't play for them because they're not winning? Buying someone else's problems is not a winning plan.

Geeeezzzzzzz, two years ago the Jax thought they were the badest and newest shxt and now they are rebuilding.

I kept telling all the hot girls not to overestimate their worth and they kept not listening.

Way too much. Trading top draft picks for players you need to pay top dollar for anyway is a losing proposition long term.
WHAT? You think teams should just sign the best CB from FA without paying any draft picks like the Pats? I think you are onto something here .

Gilmore is the only corner we have that is better than Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey is a very good football player, the Pats have several solid corners who work excellently within the system.

I tell you why; because their multi-million dollar jobs are on the line. Better to mortgage the future than lose your jobs now. So the mindset is totally different.

Ramsey is good but is he winning-but-still-bark-at-your-HC good.
