...Not sure what the solution is; even if we made every call reviewable, human error would be there; plus do we really want 5 hour long games??
The games wouldn't be 5 hours long; they would last no longer than they do already.

It would be useless, just like challenging PI calls is turning out to be a joke this year.

Challenging PI calls is a fake rule change. It will only apply in a situation where the booth calls for a review within two minutes on an egregious call in a high profile game. It happened once in 100 years, so now they have the ability to change the Rams-Saints call if it happens again (but it won’t.) It’s complete lip service that they’ve fixed their mistake when nothing has actually changed.

I’d rank the Flowers sack on Ryan in SB51 as the second biggest “odds turnaround” play in all the SBs

And you'd be off by quite a bit. Scan your eyes two SBs to the left for the biggest, but I'd be surprised if Flowers' sack is even top 5. There have been a lot of big plays in superbowls. Hell, HT's strip sack probably had a bigger impact on that very SB.

I did watch it.

So there was poor officiating. You guys, not to be a jerk here, are whining like three year olds. Was it different from any other game?

Haven't you guys figured it out yet? It isn't going to change until the owners want it to change. And if Kraft didn't make a stink about after 52, then we are all **** outta luck.

They just ratified a new contract with the refs... So.... What does that tell you

Disagree all you want, but don't mean I'm wrong
Its not just us guys. This is reverberating everywhere. In fact it was featured in Pro Football Talk this morning. Florio hopes there is a silver lining that there were so many bad calls last night that it will be addressed in the quarterly league meeting coming up. He also makes the point that now that gambling is happening that these kind of calls could lead to Congress getting involved with investigations. Maybe this is coming to that point.

Yeah, I should have said the second most “snatching victory from the jaws of defeat” play, subjectively. The Falcons were basically in chip shot territory to go up 11.

Other plays probably had larger odds swings, though, including the two-point conversion to Amendola, the Hightower strip sack, and maybe even the holding call that Long drew on the same drive.

Just in terms of having your back against the wall and needing an unlikely play in order to survive (as the other team is aware of that same worst case scenario to avoid), though, the Flowers play stands out to me after the Butler INT, considering the time remaining. As I said, subjectively. The Flowers sack is the only one that got me jumping up and down in the same stratosphere as the Butler INT, going from thinking it’s a near certain loss to getting an extra life.

The NFL needs to can Riverton and give a blank check to Blandino. Riveron buries his head in the sand and claims there are no issues while calls like that cost teams games. They can’t even get the easy calls. The Packers had 13 men on the field at one point last night.

They didn’t call 13 men in the field? That was the most embarrassing call of all then in terms of sheer incompetence.

What is sad is that was not...

I was stunned watching the game, and seeing the refs blow those calls. Booger McFarland was so hot I'm surprised he didn't leave the booth for awhile to calm down. BUT....... he was absolutely correct. He even pointed out how, in the 2nd call, the ref was staring right at Flowers and STILL got the call wrong.

So instead of signing TEs before the deadline, how do we sign refs?

To be fair I don't actually think our rant will change anything, but it can be therapeutic to vent to this crowd.

How long has it been reverberating everywhere? iirc, someone mentioned Gronk in Carolina... that was 2013....

be honest - you know your rant wont change anything

Just like I said, until the owners want it to change, it won't

I used a bit of hyperbole but I am of the mindset there would be a noticeable amount of time added to games if we are reviewing more and more penalties, whether that be because of coaching challenges or reviews inside two minutes

Well yes people have been whining about bad calls forever but it's getting out of hand now. It's getting ridiculous
Of course ranting on some message boards wont cause any movement, but we're hearing prime time broadcasters doing it all the time now.

Can only imagine the shyt show this would've created had it been the Patriots getting that win.

You wrote this as a reply to me literally saying I know it won't change anything. Not sure how much more honest or clear I could be than that.

1. This is true.
2. The Lions would have lost that game no matter what with 100% certainty. They are the biggest choking franchise in the league, and Lambeau is their favorite place to gag.
Hadn't Detroit won three of the last 4 games played in Lambeau before last night????
