Missing Piece: And it’s not WR or TE

Why is this? He was good when he filled in at center before.
His play and Shaq Mason’s are both a disappointment. Mason’s$46 million contract may have taken the edge off what was once an elite drive blocker.
The big mansion’ll do that to a guy.

I don't get why people are trying to deny the impact Andrews had on the rest of the line when we have Mason and Cannon playing noticeably worse without him.

Karas appears to screw up line calls every game.

until he gets those call right, our o line will appear out of sync.

Don't take this as disagreement but can you point to 2-3 examples of this that made you come to that conclusion ? Or why do you think Karras is doing something wrong ?

Am honestly curious.

Karras might make Cannon and Mason worse than Andrews does but individually I think Karras has been pretty good except 1 bad game.

We need a kicker unless last week was due to wind... We can't go for it on 4th down when it could be a 45 yard kick... Gonna come back to bite us... Nugent better have a good showing this week

Bingo. Gostkowski got alot of hate on here (Including by me). But I am starting to realize how valuable he was. Nugent doesn't have a big leg. That's going to be a big problem when the weather turns (If it isn't already).

My mistake
No worries. This year’s OL (obviously) is not a cohesive unit and every member has had their struggles because of it. Last year they were divine in comparison.

The missing piece is:

1. A wide receiver good enough to make the offense successful when they are obviously passing by forcing a defense into zone (or a guy like Patterson who switches it up with misdirection runs...Brown was also taking some handoffs in his one game.)
Or
2. A fullback or offensive line upgrade that makes the offense successful when they are obviously running.
Or
3. A dual threat tight end who can disguise run or pass plays and activate a more effective play action.

The biggest problem with the Patriots is predictable playcalling, and due to their personnel there isn’t really a way around it. We know, and the defense knows, with great accuracy if it’s a run or pass. That’s a huge problem for a team that isn’t dominant enough to impose their will with either option.

so basically if we could acquire a good TE and get healthy we could be pretty darn good

Title of the thread should read: Missing Pieces, because that's what this offense has...and more than a couple too...

yes, "missing pieces". The list below is an OK start. There is likely to be a trade or two before the deadline.

TE - Watson
TE/FB - Tomlinson
WR - Harry
LT - Wynn

Speculation on acquiring Jabril Peppers for draft choices + DL?

That's exactly how I see it.

We're on track to get Wynn, Harry and Watson. That is 3 quality players with 1 unproven in Harry. However, his talent is there and should benefit him. If Watson has anything in the tank which I believe he does, he will be an upgrade at TE. We still need 1 more to bolster that position. The likes of OJ Howard would do that.

That would give us a 3 player improvement in pass and run blocking, 2 player improvement on inside passing lanes and a boost in the outside with Harry. Those 4 transactions would be HUGE for the offense, that is if everyone stays healthy.

using the correct word is greater. Using the wrong one just grates on the readers.
