The “dumb texts” are likely WHY he was going to be put on the EL (or at least were the camel-paralyzing straws).
I don't agree that was the "reason." You said it yourself, this may be more about metoo PR stuff than anything. League had no basis to put him on the EL based on precedent, and so they needed Pats to release him. Once released, he is left to waffle in the wind.

Now if you are saying they used the texts as the "excuse" for the release (no official reason has ever been given for the release), then I won't disagree.

The painter’s lawyer directly sent a letter to the NFL quoting the NFL personal conduct policy and how it prohibits threats, harassment, etc. (I can’t remember if the letter explictly mentioned suspension or not).

You can (erroneously, IMNSHO) believe the texts don’t fit that bill, but it would have looked horrible for the NFL to have done nothing over them, especially given all the fire the NFL was already taking after the lawsuit news broke. And unlike the accusations in the lawsuit, sending those texts was something Brown unquestionably did and gave Goodell all the opening he would need to “reasonably believe” Brown did something that was ELable.

The NFL did do something, they immediately notified AB and the Pats, and they interviewed the painter the next day.

So much so that the attorneys wrote a follow up thanking the NFL for acting swiftly.

In fact, when AB was released, the attorney appeared shocked and even said she couldn't connect the dots together for his release or some such thing.

No one in the NFL has ever or will ever be released over texts. It is utterly ridiculous to believe that. For gods sakes they have recordings of Tyreek threatening his baby mama and nothing was done to him.

The texts were why he was going to be ELd and being ELd is the primary reason why he was released.

Letter did not mention suspension. It simply asked the NFL to make AB stop contacting their client.

Also, when the NFL interviewed the painter, she told them she had witnessed AB having sex with another woman in the same room where she was painting the mural, which happened to be AB's bedroom! For Gods sakes, this painter kept on painting while AB was plowing some girl. After that is when he shows up with the small towel, in his room, probably thinking, well she was cool with me having sex in front of her. Then the painter seeked him out after all of this. She wsnted his business. The entire painter incident is a complete ZERO.

It’s over. He’s gone. He’ll end up either getting help in an institution or left wandering someday on a highway. For his sake, I hope it’s the former.

Meanwhile, the Patriots train chugs on without his wasteful drama.

Listen, even her attorneys stated the texts did not meet the strict letter of the law when it comes to a threat. The texts are an excuse for something way bigger.

AB was making a mockery out of the NFL, their executives, and rules, and getting away with it. None of the stuff he was accused of got to a level where he could be placed on the EL without creating a troubling precedent for all players. They start an investigation and interview the trainer and nothing happens. Don't you think that if there was a shred of anything they could hang an EL on they wouldn't have done it then since as you say, they were getting pressure? Even after 2nd story comes out, nothing happened. AB is behaving, nothing but positive things are coming out of Pats locker room. Then he sends the texts. Attorneys send letter to NFL, who notifies AB not to contact painter (not before like so many believe). NFL interviews painter. Still nothing happens. Why? Because they had nothing they could use to place him on EL. Texts were not enough, so they convince Kraft to release him. How or why is unknown.

We do know this, shortly thereafter, 3 Kraft stories come out: SA files appeal, Kraft sues prosecutors over evidence, Vanity Fair- Kraft story comes out, which paints him in a terrible light. Guess what, AB is not around to color any of those stories. Coincidence? Sure, the texts.

I understand now what you are trying to say and agree. I said this shortly after he was released that Kraft let him go because he knew the league was going to place AB on the EL and it suited Kraft not to have AB around when all his personal crap was still ongoing (appeal, suits, vanity fair article). Kraft did the league a favor by releasing him and thus helped himself out also.

All of the above is way more credible than the nonsense being spewed by shmessy that he was released over some dumb texts, which is laughable.

@supafly is probably the most level headed poster on the forum. Not surprising that his theory makes the most sense. Only remaining issue in this theory is the report - but it is a report and may not be true - that Kraft had to basically overrule/convince Belichick. If this is all true about the Exempt List wiping out the 2019 season for Brown, I don’t think that discussion with Belichick would take more than 30 seconds.

You done burned that bridge, Antonio.

Buh bye.

Too bad too.
AB has the perfect skill set for what’s missing in our receiver corps, especially when we didn’t draft a speed merchant in the draft like Terry McLaurin or Darius Slayton. It is common knowledge we have lacked a deep threat on the outside.
I endorse this “what-if” scenario by Cap’n Stone posted after the draft:
Redraft Game

We also lacked a deep threat speed merchant for banners #4,#5 and #6.

Would it be nice? Sure. It was nice to have Brandin Cooks in 2017.

Tyreke looked good against Houston. Do you think their fans care? Nope...

The League is pissed at Brown for the way he shot his way out of Oakland and then laughed about it. It’s payback. Not about anything else.

AB is the classic million dollar talent supported by a 10 cent brain.
His level of immaturity is beyond belief.
All he had to do was keep his mouth shut and stay off social media during the height of the firestorm that he created. Yes, the SI story added gas to the story but this is on AB and his inability to show any kind of restraint. I would have loved this guy on our team as he's an extraordinary talent and it was the ultimate FU to the rest of the league. But he blew it.

McLaurin is a stud.

So you want to be more like those inbred sH!tkickers in KC?

Actually, I think he was saying the KC fans DON'T care how good Tyreek Hill looked last Sunday because the TEAM lost........

But yes, the KC fans are indeed inbred $hitkickers....
