49ers

How would anyone know that? That was his first gig, right?

I'm just going to gloat about being right since I spent the entire 2017 offseason arguing about it: the Browns are idiots for not trading the moon for Jimmy G. The 49ers are brilliant for obtaining him. Here's what I said: Miles Garrett could be a hall of fame defensive end, and it will make very little difference in their win/loss record; Jimmy Garoppolo is a better quarterback than any of these guys coming out of college, or at the very least he is a sure-fire star whereas it's a crap shoot with the draft picks.

Look where we are today. Garrett has lived up to expectations, the Browns are still as good as their (increasingly shaky) QB takes them, and Jimmy Garoppolo owns a 13-2 record. Would love to see the dozens of people come back here who told me I was idiotic when I said the Browns would be getting a huge bargain trading the #1 pick for JG.

Mr Jimmy has thrown 5 INTs in 5 games.

You go with the best QB and Russel Wilson smokes Jimbo.

They look really good, definitely the best of the nfc teams thus far. Especially with that defense. Just very unproven, while there are at least 4 strong nfc teams who currently have leaders with multiple years of playoff experience. They could easily wind up as one and dones similar to dallas in 2014 and the rams in 2017 despite being one of the top teams.

That’s not necessarily true about going with the best QB. Football is the ultimate team game. Pete Carroll and RW have that team overachieving. I agree Russell over jimmy but that the 49ers have the better team in my opinion.

49ers played Bucs, Browns, Bengals, Steelers (with Rudolph) and Rams so far.

Rams are the only decent team they played and they played really well against them. They have a tough stretch of games from mid season in Packers, Ravens, Seahawks (twice), Saints, Rams again, cardinals (twice) and Panthers.
I wouldn't say Panthers and Cards are tough opponents but they are playing well right now. Things may change down the line for both 49ers and others but for now I'd go as far as saying they are a playoff team.

We, on the other hand haven't played many great teams either, except Bills who have a good record and are in the division. We too have tough schedule coming up in few weeks when we play Texans, Ravens. Chiefs, Cowboys and Eagles. Cowboys and Eagles aren't playing their best football but I think those games will be closer than most people like to admit. We'll be golden if we come out with 3-4 wins in that stretch.

I am actually glad we got to start the season with a softer schedule considering the injuries on O-line and overall health. Hopefully we'll get healthy when it starts to get tough.

However it ends, Kyle Shanahan deserves some serious recognition for his work. Meanwhile, the Falcons suck balls without him.

Agree 100%. Dan Quinn is a disaster. I feel sorry for Matt Ryan, though.

Scary defense, although I believe the 49ers are a bad matchup for these Rams, 2 RBS with 1 reception for 3 yards between them in first five games. They clogged the middle and let Brown run right into the defensive line`s waiting arms. Our game plan is totally different.
On the offensive side, Belichick would probably have to take Kittle out, he is a safety blanket and knows how to move the chains effectively. All the other guys are ok but can be shut down through solid defensive plan, no real game changers.

It's happening. Jimmy v. Tom SuperBowl. Question is: just how good are these 49ers? They look pretty damn stout to me. Very physical defense too.

They have it all plus a QB and Great Offensive mind HC. They have a nice up and coming D too. I was really sorry to see Jimmy G go he would have been a Great Heir apparent here. :(

Agree...at the moment they looks good...no doubt...impressed how easily won @ Lar...

But Nfc this year overall looks very competitive

Not too soon. They are clearly the two most dominant teams and will take some amount of injury in order to change that between now and playoffs.
I've had SF pegged as the best team in the NFC and 2nd best team in the NFL since before the season began, but the NFC has a lot more competitive teams than the AFC.

Also SF took some major injury hits, they lost both starting offensive tackles and their all pro fullback, running the ball and protecting the edges has become harder for them. Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey both may potentially return before season's ends, so they need to remain injury free and weather the storm.

The Vikings, Eagles if they trade for some defensive back help, the Packers and the Saints are tough, tough teams, even the Cowboys could be thrown in there, even though they are poorly coached and disciplined.

Also a team that could become competitive to finish the season could be the Cardinals, that defense gets a huge boost this week with the return of Patrick Peterson from injury and eventually another good nickel corner in Robert Alford from injury. Not sure they can crawl out from the hole they dug for themselves in that division, but they could be good enough to ruin some other teams playoff chances.

Agreed. Barring injuries, I think we see Wilson or Rodgers (Because of Aaron Jones) in the Super Bowl this year.

Gloat on. I made a similar post yest. QB position is just too valuable.

I thought Cleveland should've traded for Jimmy too but I believe they could've got it done while taking Garrett #1. They had 3 1st & a top 50 2nd I believe.

25/52 would have gotten it done one would think? Who knows.

Back to the QB point. It can't be said enough. I understand why teams gamble. I don't agree w holding onto them for the sake of doing so which some teams seems to be doing but I get the gamble.

You're going nowhere w/out one save for a 1/1000000 type season.

Falcon fans are in shambles rn. All the talent in the world on both sides but coaching has killed them. 10 years of defensive minded coaches. 10 years of disappointment.

the Steelers are a decent team
I don’t know about all of that, unless you consider a 5-11 or 6-10 team “decent.” So far, they’ve beaten the worst team in the league (Cincy) and won in LA where they had the majority of the fans in a 27,000 seat stadium.

If they split their remaining games, which I think will be very hard to do, they’d still only finish at 7-9.

It isn’t that satisfying watching the Steelers lose without Fat Ben. This is a good thing...Brady will retire before those turd fans in Pittsburgh ever get the satisfaction is seeing them go down in flames. They will claim how great is when the Patriots eventually lose their invincibility, but it’s really very unsatisfying. :)

If the Pats play the Niners, realize BB had 3 and a half years to dissect Jimmy G’s game up close and personal.
