Except it is more likely than not that it was not Bill's idea to cut him.
It just doesn’t make any logical sense. If Bill is the one who ultimately swung the axe on that, why wasn’t any of the initial vitriol that was directed at Kraft instead directed at Bill (or even directed at both)?

I am not sure if you are trying to be funny or are confused. It is a civil case, not a criminal case. The woman is accusing AB of rape. It may or may not go to trial.
I thought she filed a complaint of sexual assault?

The two things aren't connected, which for some reason is tough for the haters to understand. Kraft is the owner, he is the guy who pays for his own indiscretions. That doesn't mean he has to put up with his employees indiscretions.

If you get a speeding ticket, it doesn't mean you can't ground your 16 year old for shoplifting.

yeah but your 16 year old might post on social media that you’re hypocritical but then delete. And after the grounding and private admonition, you still get to live in the house. You don’t get thrown out.

Did you read the entire SI article? If you did, you'd know there was plenty there that would have set Brown off. She was really just the icing on the cake.

Also, how likely is it that the painter gave Brown a picture of her kids after knowing him 2 days? Pretty sure him sending that to her would be viewed by most as stalkerish behavior. Something people seem to be ignoring..

Not really. He send a picture of the kids to make a point. He talked about their clothes. My point is the story should have been closed but she reopened it when she decided to talk to the SI writer. Brown thinks she got paid for the story which i agree with.

Not a whole lot of faith in the coach there when it comes to personnel management. How is Brown any different than the loose cannons Belichick has handled in the past?

Did you catch El Camino? I had it ready to go and passed out at the title screen so planning to watch tonight.

I think you're the one who doesn't get. Talking to a reporter about what an athlete did to you in the past is not an open invitation for the athlete to start sending harassing text messages.

Nothing in those texts constitutes harassment or threats. If it does, she’s free to go to the police, why she hasn’t.

My god, I can't believe this story has lasted this long. No one has given any oxygen to it, outside of random people on Twitter. Brown put out a video, and there has been no follow-up reporting to confirm or deny that AB would even be a possibility (highly doubtful).

They're incredibly vulnerable as the offense stands, especially with Gordon being banged up.
-AJ Green is reportedly unavailable.
-Stefon Diggs is reportedly unavailable.
-Emmanuel Sanders may be on the block, as DEN is going nowhere.
---Can Sanders come in and pick up the offense and produce? I don't know, but all recent history (outside of Brown) points to a resounding no.
-Sanu? Who cares. He's not a difference-maker.
-Brown is the logical choice, speaking STRICTLY on the field, but we know that you'd have to put up with him off the field. The guy has no impulse control, as evident the first time he was here, so why would anything change? How do we know that a month from now, we won't be back in the same position?

No. I’ll watch it this weekend at some point or next week at the latest. Going with the fiancée for dinner, drinks, and Joker after work.

the most likely reality is that he is not interested in playing football.......he's trying to scam the raiders and pats out of $40M

scam is an interesting choice of word for contract guarantees

People have failed to understand this. I even wonder if the nfl is investigating any of this.

I’ll gladly take either of them at this point. Thank God Gordon’s season didn’t end last night.

Imo Sanders has always been a guy that i thought would have fit perfectly under this offense. That’s why i wanted him here when he was with Pittsburgh.

So....when is AB back at practice?
According to @billbelichicksmyfacepage there’s no practice until Monday and that’s optional.

Let's just play along here and say for the sake or argument that Antonio Brown should not play for the team.

Do these staunch people who permanently reside up Kraft's rectum (I'm looking at you @shmessy ) even understand the salary cap implications and why releasing him like this was a big error in judgment? Take AB's antics/accusations out of the equation and let's just say it's anyone who the team decides they don't want.

The Patriots gave him roughly $9M guaranteed over two years and spread the cap hit over two years. By doing this, they took a 4.5M charge this year, leaving them with about $5M remaining in cap space in case they needed to add a player, account for a trade, etc. By releasing him, his signing bonus accelerated, so they are now on the hook for the full $9M this year...or in other words, it decimated their flexibility for this season. Even if they ultimately do win the grievance and get a cap credit, their 2019 flexibility is gone.

There's a lot of talk about how Kraft never would have done this deal if he'd known about the lawsuit. Belichick never would have done this deal if it were one-year, not two, and ate up all the remaining space. And the only way that scenario could play out is by the Patriots releasing him. So you can talk all you want about Kraft's decision about Brown on the team. but releasing him in this way has huge consequences beyond just not having Brown.

The Patriots had an option to keep Brown even if they didn't want him to play another down for them. Exempt List literally means he can be suspended by the league and the Patriots can use the exempt roster spot for someone else. A suspension largely achieves the same ends as it also provides a roster exemption. They very well may have had the option to leave him on the exempt/suspended roster without having to wreck their cap space for this year. Now is there 100% certainty this would have happened? No, we don't know because Kraft threw away a chance at reviewing his options, but it's absolutely not far fetched to believe this scenario could have happened where they can avoid losing that cap space and still freezing out Brown.

Let's see if the people who don't like Brown (fine, that's your opinion) can acknowledge that this wasn't a smart cap decision, or if they'll dig in their heels, make irrelevant arguments about Brown's bad behavior, etc. (my money is that they definitely will resort to this.)

Follow up - it has a 96% on RT.

Must be made of rubber. That knee twisted like a pretzel

Hate Brown but definitely hate the cap management disaster his hasty departure has left us in. It's made navigating these past few weeks obnoxious in terms of trade rumors, and has made these AB threads absolutely unbearable.

Edit - Also, I do like how Kraft has turned this ship as an owner for the better, but he as an individual is pretty weird and dumb

The cap charge is $5.75m this year and $4.5m next year. I don't think it accelerated by cutting him.

I believe the reason why they cut him was because of a) his behavior and b) weasel out of paying him the 1st installment on 9/23 and the next one 1/15/2020.
