Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Giants

It's weird because I only got to watch about the first Q and our defense looked lights out as usual, and the O was still having a hard time getting the motor going.

Then I get home, it's 35-14 - did the O turn up or something? Idgi. Also, were the two scores from the Giants blown coverage? Or did they manage to produce two decent drives? Thanks to anyone who can answer for me.

One TD was from a Brady Fumble that got returned.
The other TD was by Golden Tate on a tipped ball by Jones that he juggled before catching. However, there was a HUGE hold by Zeitler on Guy that allowed Jones to make the pass.

I always look forward to his insights.
Same here. My favorite part of this site.

I wish there was some way we could get patfanken and Belichick to sit down together and go over plays, like he does with zolak. Belichick loves talking about football from the good old days, and patfanken is our favorite resident football dinosaur. That would be a nice offseason touch if Belichick would ever do it. I’d nominate him from this site for sure

Gilmore had a pretty good game

Stephon Gilmore has been targeted six times. He has an interception and four pass breakups. One of those PBUs led to John Simon's interception.

Someone on here actually said he’s been meh this season.

I don't remember us even trying to pass in the redzone too much tonight. That in itself is something I have a problem with.

weird.

I hate not seeing games damnit I have no idea what went on. Did they just do a bunch of runs inside the 10?

I mean I guess it makes sense if even Gordon went down. At that point, you have not a single red zone threat. Your TE's are the closest thing to a waste of space at this point lol.

Nugent needs to go. He’s going to lose use a big game otherwise.

This defense is from another world, made all the big plays when needed and more.
I never seen a defense like this one..

The TD they got too, JJones had pretty good coverage it was just a great pass.

And the wind helped a bit too.

Thanks for the insight, much appreciated.

Not yet. Bailey had the laces in and Nugent was hooking kicks all night for some reason...the wind I think.

Perfect example of why media analysts (former players or not) often need to be taken out back and have some sense slapped into them. Without naming the person, and being sure that he won't be the only one this applies to this week, allow me to paraphrase:

"Well, I wanted the team to play some of the guys who haven't been getting time. I wanted to see Meyers get more plays, and he did. I wanted to see Gunner get more plays, and he did. And I know Dorsett was missing and Gordon got injured. And I know the offensive line is struggling. And I know the TE play isn't what it needs to be. And I know that, with all of that, Brady was 31 for 41, with over 300 yards passing. And I know that the offense put up more than 400 yards today.

But something seems off about the offense. "

They have looked good no doubt but we will see how they do with the tough stretch coming up. I just hope our offense will figure it out before then.

My last 2 posts in this thread were vaguely negative which is unnecessary for a 35-14 win, so I'll also say some positives:
  • Edelman really is playing as well as he ever has. Was interesting to hear the secondhand anecdote of Brady admitting Edelman lost a step though.
  • Meyers looked really good too, especially stepping into that Gordon role. Hope Gordon is okay. His toughness is ridiculous.
  • Bolden is starting to prove McDaniels right for giving him a few designed touches a game.
  • Van Noy is everywhere. Was seemingly always right there about to get Jones before the throw.
  • Our punt block team is clearly superior. I don't think these are fluke plays.

Nugent needs to go. He’s going to lose use a big game otherwise.

Indeed. In most cases the team would kick a fg between 40-50 yards. I feel like the team is going to punt or go for it with Nugent at kicker. That's assuming he isn't cut.

Having not seen the numbers and just basing this off my own memory, I do remember them doing a bunch of runs inside the 10. Brady ran a sneak at least 3 times tonight, including 2 in a row inside the 5 yard line when the first one was from way too far away to actually work.

Ask your parents about the 3 rings from the 2001-2004 era. Knowing how to win major struggles is essential to winning the season. It’s amazing how many posters here have not learned ONE thing from the past 20 years of the Patriots Dynasty. You have no clue.

I always enjoy the innocents who hated the last Super Bowl 13-3 win who said it was “boring”.

How many FFL leagues are you in?
You're saying this to someone who has never played a second of fantasy football in his life. In fact, I had to Google "FFL" to know what you were referring to. So nice try.

Also nice to see you taking advantage of mod privileges by continuing to respond and edit posts in a locked thread.

Predictably, nothing but sophistry and nonsense from you.
