Went back and read the SB51 thread.

At 28-12 I could envision something, but at 20-28 and after the Jones's catch, I started to get Tyree and Kearse syndrome and my stand became shaky, very shaky. Then Trey happened and I got

Freeman has been a little unfairly made the scapegoat for the comeback. If Ryan didn’t take the sack, they’d probably score a field goal to ice the game.

Freeman did not block what he did not see. Ryan just cannot let that happen - no way, no how.

I don't ever participate in SB GDT's because I avoid all distractions ... I'm usually pacing too. But I admit I thought the game was over after they went up 28-3 on us. I left the bar, which was loaded with Steelers fans rooting for the Falcons. I wish I had stayed.

I don't often participate in the game day thread, and almost never on an important game. I was watching with the family and they gave up. Midway through the 3rd, at 28-3, my wife took the dogs out for a walk and asked if I wanted to come along, since "it just isn't their night". I kind of snapped at her and said something like "it isn't over yet, not with Brady". She came back for the last two TDs, 2 point conversions, and OT.

So glad that I never lost faith. Honestly!

When it was 28-3, I stopped drinking beer, and cracked open a bottle of Maker' Mark. They kept scoring,so I kept drinking. It was a great finish, both the game, and my sobriety. Actually, even with the drinking, I was pretty alert through the game, and afterward during the ceremonies, though my wife said my volume kept rising, both me hollering, and raising the TV volume. The only thing I did wrong, apparently, was try to stand up afterward. I don't remember that part, but my wife did. I woke up asleep on the floor, with a blanket dropped over me. Sigh.

But no matter the score, I stick around and watch. I wear the laundry, and I'll be faithful to my team as long as I have breath.

Not all heroes wear capes

Lol a glorious thread. I remember telling the guys over on RealGM to stop quitting on the team when we were way behind.

I followed the game on a Twitter and the reactions to the comeback was hilarious.

Here’s just one delicious morsel..
Super Bowl discussion thread

Over at jetsnation I found the thread and some guy was ranting about how much he hated Mo Lewis lol.

I was at the 49ers game the other night and they went up 28-3 in the third quarter. The entire stadium started trickling out and many of the remaining fans were totally relaxed and on their smart phones, satisfied with another win...and I thought about that Super Bowl. It’s really remarkable to think about how absurdly large that deficit really is.

I don’t see how any QB can ever eclipse that accomplishment if you are going by most clutch performances. And I think the game will age well also...it’s not right that it isn’t considered a top-5 if not top-3 all-time NFL game. It’s too recent for people to appreciate it properly.

I don't understand how someone can pay so much money to see their home team play and then walk out in the 3rd quarter of a game their team is AHEAD???!!!!! Makes no sense at all. That is the time when you get to relax and LUXURIATE in the game.

There is something to be said about an intense back and forth game, especially when your team ends up winning. Well the same goes for a game when your team blows out the other team and you can relax and enjoy the impending victory without being on edge for 3 hours and afraid you are going to miss something if you take a piss.

Confession time: I was fine all through the first half because I knew were were going to get the ball at the start of the half and it would be 21-10 and the game would be on. However after we DIDN'T score and they DID, I admit to turning it off. I managed to keep it off for about 15 minutes and even when they were starting to come back my attitude was that it was "nice" that were were going to make it look close.

I mean the chances of winning were SO improbable. Zero chance of error. We had to score EVERY time and stop them EVERY time....AND get two 2 point conversions. An amazing night. It was glorious for any Pats fan to live through, and I can't imagine what it must have been like for a Falcons fan.

Just a thought that occurred to me. If you had the power of fate in your hands and you had the option to change history so that just ONE of these three things happened. Which would you choose.

1 The "helmet catch" was dropped and any of the 3 holding calls that could have been call had been thrown and Pats eke out their undefeated season.

2. Welker catches the pass. The Pats run out the clock and win a somewhat unexpected championship season

3. Events of Superbowl LI unfold just as they did.

You know as much as that Atlanta win was for the ages, I think an undefeated superbowl team would have been even more historic. And wouldn't it have been nice to have sent Junior Seau off with a superbowl ring.

What do you think?

After they scored to take the 28-3 lead I was about to change the channel and was preparing myself for a self imposed media blackout until the draft. Then I remembered the comeback against the Broncos and that near comeback against the 49ers which kept me watching. I didn't get my hopes until the Edelman catch and the successful two point conversion.

Once we got the ball in overtime I was on my feet, pacing back and forth. Once JAmes White scored I jumped up and down hollering at the top of my lungs. All my noise woke my mom up who went to sleep after halftime. She wasn't a fan of the team but was happy because I was.

She passed away recently so this memory is more bittersweet now.

I would agree with the undefeated season thing. If we could have just gotten Eli Manning to the ground on that play, he would have been sacked and couldn’t have thrown it. As I made this thread, I noticed the braves got destroyed and their season is done. On top of all of that, after the game McCann announced his retirement. It really sucks being an Atlanta sports fan.

This was before I was on the forum, I wanted to see what you all were saying during 28-3 and jeez Most of you obviously thought it was over but some of you thought we were going to get blown out like the broncos in SB48. I remember I stopped watching it at halftime but turned it back on when we got a touchdown.

Xenforo has a lot going for it. But, one thing I love about vBulletin that we don't have here is the ability to see how many posts a person has in a particular thread, and then the ability to pull up all those posts by person.

I'm afraid to know what I said. I was under-the-influence of cupcakes.

I was watching the game with the kiddos and I do remember consuming 5 chocolate raspberry cupcakes with cream frosting my daughter made at 28-3, 28-9, 28-12, 28-20 and 28-28.

Cupcakes are one of nature's most perfect foods.

Right there with coffee, beer, bacon & bourbon. That's how I see the food pyramid, anyway.

Manning should have been whistled down in-the-grasp. The refs just stood and watched instead of whistling the play dead and calling it a sack.

I wasn't being negative, just wasn't going to get all excited for what probably ends up falling short. I mean, what are the odds?

Not until the Amendola catch in OT
You didn’t get excited until OT? Man, tough crowd.

Go back and read the SB51 game day thread on opposing team forums when it was 28-3 and the comeback began.
Jets, Steelers, Bills etc .
Delicious.
Although there was some pretty disturbing posts on the Jets forum if I recall. Lol.
That was a hobby of mine for months after. It was like watching a good horror movie..those fans didn’t know what was going to happen to them.

(When I was typing that, “horror” auto-corrected to “hoodie.” Man, how perfect is that.)

Was at the game when Brady set the career wins record against the Rams in 2016 and the Pats won 26-10. I was stunned at the amount of folks leaving early when they were up, especially given the circumstance. After all Brady’s done, all the memories, and “fans” are going to do it like that?

I was a bit sauced near the end of the game celebrating and chirping the pseudo fans as they exited early to gain 20 minutes to beat traffic (pathetic). My girlfriend was a little pissed at me because a few people were glaring as they left early. She mentioned one guy who passive aggressively swore at me as he left to go home early, but wasn’t audible or visible enough to make me aware of it. Whatever. Embarrassing type of people.
