RUMOR? Patriots interest in AJ Green?

If Brown really wants to come back and BB really will take him back, this really could happen (pending NFL ruling).

It's an easy sell for Brady to repair the damage with Kraft.

Dez AND AB?

A decent dual threat TE would be the best option to fix the line IMO. Not only do you get extra competent blocking, you also have a more effective play-action and aren’t telegraphing every play pre-snap.
It's probably crazy, but what are people's thoughts about having Josh Gordon add about 10-15 pounds of muscle and convert him to the TE position? Then we can use a Green/other rental, Edelman, and Dorsett as our 1, 2, and 3 at receiver.

My thought is that Gordon has lost a step in terms of speed but would be a beast against linebackers with a little more heft. An unlikely scenario, but any pros/cons to moving Gordon to TE since that is a need and it's easier to get a healthy receiver right now than a TE?

Josh Gordon Excited To See His Physical Progress At Patriots Midseason

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was hesitant to say Gordon could be used like a tight end, however.

“I mean, I guess he could. It depends,” Belichick said. “A lot of tight end routes are different than the receiver routes just as a fundamental part of the offense. So, when you start to talk about tight ends playing receiver, that takes a special kind of athlete and a special type of — I mean, there’s techniques to playing receiver that are different from playing tight end. There are techniques that are different from playing receiver, and include slot receiver. “They’re just different positions. So, I mean, could you line him up there? Yeah, I guess you could line him up there, but you’re talking about putting a guy into a new world really, on a lot of levels. Seeing the game from the inside-out, seeing the game from the outside-in — I mean, that’s a pretty big difference. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but I think that’s the type of thing that would take time — years — and the right kind of player that would be able to do all of that. So, I think that would be asking a lot really of almost any player. Now, I mean you could take a guy like Tony Gonzalez, who could play receiver and play tight end. He’s in the Hall of Fame. So, I’m not saying there aren’t guys who can do that, but I wouldn’t say it’s a long list.”

Even if he did put on 15 pounds and did a lot more blocking, it would be foolish for any WR to agree to be called a TE for contract negotiation/franchise tag reasons.

Not " probably" crazy- certifiable.
1st, the middle of a season is not the time to "just" add 15 lbs. You need to do that before the season starts. Especially a position that requires some speed and quickness.
2nd,he'd be learning a brand-new position in the middle of a season. That's also something that needs to be done in the off-season.
3rd, the guy is still not in top shape. He's getting back there but not there yet. The dude is improving every week. How much you want to pile on his plate? Just becoming the best wr he can be and staying sober is plenty for anyone to handle.

I was asking for people's opinions. From your reaction, it would seem asking people for their input is frowned upon?

Yes you did and I gave you mine.
But seriously, if you're gonna posit an out of the box possibility, it needs to make sense. That makes no sense.

**** IT LETS MAKE THIS AN AB THREAD

Almost like bringing back Vrabel after he asked for more pay on the back of Kraft building Patriots Place

Mike Vrabel: There’s a Place for more pay – Boston Herald

Almost like bringing back Mankins after he called Kraft a liar.

Back in 2010, an argument between the team and Mankins, a restricted free agent, came out with the guard asking to be traded from the team, telling ESPN Boston at the time “I’m pretty frustrated, from everything that’s happened and the way negotiations have gone…I want to be traded. I don’t need to be here anymore.’’

Mankins claimed that the team did not offer him an extension after the 2008 season due to an upcoming labor dispute and instead said they would come back to working out a deal during the uncapped offseason following 2009.

“I’m a team player, I took them at their word, and I felt I played out an undervalued contract,” he said in 2010. “Right now, this is about principle with me and keeping your word and how you treat people. This is what I thought the foundation of the Patriots was built on.

“Apparently, I was wrong. Growing up, I was taught a man’s word is his bond. Obviously this isn’t the case with the Patriots.”

And just before signing the contract with the Pats, Kraft asked Mankins to apologize and Mankins walked out. And later signed the contract without apologizing. But then Kraft made up a story that Mankins did apologize.

Did either of those incidents directly or indirectly have to do with Kraft's genitals?
