I asked the Pats locker room how they felt about being 5-0 and they said "Awwwwwwwwwww YEAH!!!"

Look, if we get there 2015 is the worst I've ever felt about being 10-0.

2015 started well then after the Denver loss we ran out of gas from the injury bug. Weird season.

Poll is flawed. Sitting here after 6 SB’s, I’m kinda up on the house at this point.

The

are the third team in NFL history to average 30.0+ PPG while allowing fewer than 7.0 PPG through 5 games of a season. They join the 1920 and 1921 Buffalo All-Americans.

It should be pointed out that 4/5 wins for the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans are against teams that don't even feature on PFR's standings for the 1920 AFPA.

And that one of their wins in 1921 was a 55-0 affair against the New York Brickley Giants. The Brickley Giants only played on other game in NFL history.

:D

every D the Pats D sent to the SB in BB era was a SB worthy defense including 2011 though everyone says no. But they were. (And played quite well, gave up 13 real points).

We'll have to agree on the 2011 defense, but this is defense is so awesome they pass every test there is...........they pass the eye test and stats tests.

Let's put it this way, the 2016 defense was good enough to win a Super Bowl and statistically was one of the best defenses in the league, but if you asked me they didn't inspire confidence. They played the 'bend don't break' and they did it well (don't get me wrong), but you just always felt like it was a dam ready to burst.

With the 2014 D, with those CBs I felt like THEY were a dominant D and inspired confidence.

With this year's they are attacking, can get to the quarterback, and can cover. Not to mention the fact that they capitalize on turnover opportunities. They are the full package and look every bit as dominating as their stats suggest.

Yes but it's not yet a Superbowl calibre offense. But there's still time. Wynn and Harry's return will help.

Perhaps, but the nice thing is that the defense is SOOO good that Tom doesn't have to carry the team this year (as he normally does). This defense is good enough to get it done themselves.

The All Americans fielded some decent squads. Could ball out.

We can't fully grade the defense until they face the big boys. Though I expect them to be up to the test.

Per Felger, Patriots released Watson due to no ca space. So that may or may not affect the ability to get a receiver.

I was more comfortable being 4-1 in 2016 than the 5-0 start now.

1974. I was 10 and in 5th grade. Those were some hard years in elementary school. :)

I feel pretty good about this team. We’re normally like 3-2 by now

been 5-0 5 times

I know, but the last few years, seems like we’re always 2-2 and everyone starts flipping out around here. Me included.

I mean, they're 5-0 and people are still flipping out.

I'm starting to think everyone's just bored, and waiting for January.

I don’t understand it either. You’d think we were 2-3

If you listen to the media, you would think we are 0-5

They're the worst 5-0 team in NFL history

Patriots teams usually tend to get better as the season goes on. I believe much of their success is based upon their preparation. Early in the season they have little to go on when they play other teams, so they tend to struggle a bit early on. As the season goes on, they are able to figure out the other teams weaknesses and exploit them, while at the same time, figuring out their own weaknesses and changing them. This also helps explain why they often struggle against back up qb's, they just don't have the film on them to "figure them out".

This year their d is just so damn good it doesn't seem to matter. It seems like they got it last year by the playoffs and haven't lost a beat since. So, at this point, I am the most comfortable with this team, with the possible exception of the 0-7 team.
