RUMOR? Patriots interest in AJ Green?

Izzo's blocking improved last game, and while he can't run like a Gronk, he IS a very smooth catcher of the football as he showed Sunday. Much better at it than Allen, who treated every pass as if it were an alien coming at him.

Lacosse hasn't really had a full chance since he is STILL recovering from the high ankle sprain and trying to play through it.

Even wen Wynn comes back, I love the idea of putting in Newhouse at LT and Wynn at TE in 2 or 3 TE formations.

That is why my ador for Brate has waned a bit. I'm kind of loathe to give up another roster slot to a 3rd TE. So in my mind, if you bring in Brate, you'd have to let go Lacosse.

I'm glad Ryan Izzo is honing his skills against Expansion Teams he still have Three more games counting Thursday night. But know this after Cleveland we are playing Division Leaders and Contenders for over a Month. We have a Tough Second Half just before and after the Bye no gimmes until Cincinnati. Hope Ryan Izzo and LaCosse has it all figured out by then.

Well crafted and reasonable thoughts. BUT...... I have some reservations.

1. I now, more than ever, don't want Trent Williams. Great player, when he is at the top of his game, but what is he now. If he would play for free and come at no cost, he'd STILL be a risk. Coming off a serious injury and not having played 16 games since 2013, what will you get from him, without TC, and almost half a season with no football activities at all. What is his mental state?

But here's the thing. He DOESN'T come for free and WOULD exact a cost. Both those things come with a price. Like I've mentioned in the past, we have 20 guys to potentially fit $55MM including several who would be critical to our future success.
Williams, IMHO would be a luxury we just don't need. I've seen Wynn, and he's the real deal. IMHO he's more skillful than Solder was at this point. He's the prototype LT of today, a bit smaller, more agile and athletic to take on the 4.6 rushers we are seeing starting to pop up.

So Toys, it not just ONE reason to reject Williams, its MULTIPLE costs for an asset that, at this point, is far from a sure thing.

2. I don't hate the idea of bringing in a Sanu or Sanders....in principle. But beyond the cost, you run into the same problem you have with Harry and Meyers. Trying to fit in to Tom Brady's mind and this system. Sure it would be easier because they are long term professional WR's, but still no sure thing. We've seen good vets run screaming from Gillette. I still haven't gotten over the Ocho failure. The guy was an 11,000 yd receiver with a good attitude and hooked up to the GOAT. What could go wrong....right? ;)

Did you watch last night as 3 good but not great WR's took apart the Browns. It's the of a formula (for lack of a better word) we've been taking apart defenses with for 20 years. Now after looking at that which WR would you want over ours?

Your ideas are valid, but really unneeded right now.

3. THERE you go. I was with you on Brate before the season started. It made a LOT of sense then, and SOME sense now (again the new system thing). I'm not as excited now as I was then because I'm seeing growth from both Izzo AND Lacosse.

I think it's obvious that we only make a move for a TE if he is a clear upgrade to LaCosse and Izzo who are both still developing and getting better.

Compared to the rest of the league, Edelman, Gordon, Dorsett, Harry, Meyers appears to be a pretty competent group.

I don't think we NEED to trade for anyone. It would be nice but it's not a must.

Harry is not activated yet and Dorsett is currently injured your rational would be flawed if either Edelman or Gordon gets injured. Minus either of the latter we are very easy to Defend. I wouldn't want our current situation at WR any other way we NEED Edelman and Gordon you can run a efficient Offense with them.

We get Harry back? I might take that bet. I think Wynn and Develin are coming back, and the Pats can only activate TWO from the IR list.

Harry and Wynn will come back. They gave these guys enough time to heal and they are ready to go soon enough.

Mike Reiss expects Harry to be a big part of the passing attack in the 2nd half of the season.

sure but I am operating under the assumption that both Harry and Dorsett are healthy after the bye which I think will happen.

I dont think the team will **** around with neck injuries but we will know pretty soon as Harry can soon get back to practice.

I dont get why people want a first round WR with pretty impressive build, good hands and YAC ability sidelined over a minor issue but at the same time demand some kind of trade for a veteran WR who would cost more and would have even less experience with Brady. Harry at least was there for the entire preseason.
I THINK Harry can start to practice as early as Monday and play on week 9. Wynn can start to practice in 2 weeks

Agreed. We are in bad shape if Gordon gets hurt and will be screwed if Edelman gets hurt. We don’t have last year’s running game to lean on and no individual player will turn that around. Adding another top receiver will open up the passing game and provide injury insurance.

I hope we are asking Philly if Dallas Goedert is available.

Not a chance they are still in a Division race and we should have Traded up for him instead of Drafting the Puke or Duke.

What if we snatch OBJ from CLE? They don’t need/know how to use him...

You need to come barehand some Brady balls in NE..

There is not such a thing as cap limit. Let's trade all our #1 picks for Odell, Kittle and a LT ...

Green = Mr. Glass i don't know his cap ( maybe 12M?) and a FA next year. How much are you willing to spend on a soon to be 32 WR, injury prone?
Eifert on the other hand is only 29 and has a 2M+ cap hit (same as Watson) but he is a FA next year too ...

Can you really call AJ Green 'Mr. Glass', when Tyler Eifert is in the same sentence?

Of these 2 players I didn’t expect Green to be the one referred to as “Mr. Glass.”

Both are. Green missed 40% of the games last 4 years. But Eifert cost is 1/5 of Green's.

Eifert in 5 GAMES does not have 100 yards combined. Is this guy going to fix the TE problem?

If they want a TE that is not going to put big numbers i would sign Allen (if he want to play) at least his blocking is amazing and it will be for vet minimum probably.

I kind of seeing where he was going. Both injuries waiting to happen but one is going to cost us much less $$.

Green is amazing, Odell is amazing, Diggs woul be awesome. But if you are goind to bring a player like this at least go for the non injury prone ones. Dude is recovering since July (they were expecting a 6 week recovery) ... i would not trade for any player like this. I would give up more for OJ Howard. Cheap. Young. He is not a FA next year and will not damage our cap (hits of 2M+ and 3M). Give a 3rd for Howard and a 5th and let's go.
