This is one of those misleading statements that people attribute to BB but if you think about it for a bit it makes no sense whatsoever.

Yes, you don't keep people based on their past performance but if you completely throw that out of the window how exactly will you project their future performances when it comes to contract negotiations.

If you are seriously trying to tell me that past performance is not an indicator BB is using to come up with whatever metric he uses to determine value then I'd be extremely curious how you think he comes up with numbers.

Belichick was willing to trade Gronk to the Lions in 2018 for a 1st round pick, but Gronk said he would retire.

Gronk has a far better resume than Ghost & in his prime he was worth far more than a 1st round pick.

Then why would Belichick trade a guy who many consider the best TE of all time and a sure first ballot hall of fame member?

Belichick knew more than anyone that Gronk
Was on the decline & he ended up retiring after the season. His 2018 numbers were by far the worst of his career.

We all love Gronk, but Belichick made the right call.

Isn't Dan Bailey under contract/kicking for Minnesota?

He might be. I thought I read somewhere he was a free agent...

That is a nice story but a) has absolutely nothing to do with how BB uses or is not using past performance to evaluate players and b) we would have not even been at the SB without Gronk.

Wanna try again ?

Kai forbath among the tryouts today

That there is a problem in the kicking game that only a blind person would deny.

Based on what ? 4 games ? Again, do you understand percentages and probabilities ?

I was told there would be no math. I know what I see. Anyway, get well soon Ghost and hope we get a more reliable kicker in the meantime.

Why don’t you put down the Ghost crying towel & open your eyes.

Do you think Gronk was the same player last year?

Gronk 2018
13 games
47 receptions
682 yards
3 touchdowns

Gronk 2017
14 games
69 receptions
1084 yards
8 touchdowns

None of us seen the decline of Gronk in 2017, but Belichick knew it was coming & anyone who watched Gronk run routes last year, knew he was not the same player.

Sign Karli Lloyd right now

We'll be lucky to find someone that is 80-90% of Ghost.

Ah, the eye test. 20/20? Oh, there’s that math again.

The truth is Ghost could have missed another 10 EXtra Points this season and his apologists would still defend him

Based on what? How about based on the team having to put the kicker on IR? That work for you?

Not me. But I don’t pay his checks.
