Patriots working out kickers

Until now you guys were also in denial over 2019.

You not grasping probabilities, small sample sizes and what percentages mean doesn't mean anyone was in denial. It just means you should have taken a statistics course in your life.

Well.. Now we know the REAL reason that they had Kicker tryouts.. Gostkowski to the IR.. Something NONE of you haters thought of..

Haters? You mean the people who knew there was something wrong in the kicking game, and have been asking for the team to address it while you were trying to blame the misses on the holds?

Nice spin job puckhead.

The thing with Gostkowski is we are paying a premium for him. Think it’s fair to criticize him.

Sucks to lose him now, hope there’s a good young kicker we could sign that may kick well for us for peanuts.

If not, hopefully we can get by and Gost comes back next year better than ever. Can’t deny saving like 3 mill off be cap isn’t valuable if we do move on.

Problem is kicking in the nfl has a huge mental component and it’s difficult to predict how these college kickers will react.

How do you even quantify this, though ?

Don't you think any of the teams that are actually getting royally screwed by their kickers would not happily pay 3m more just to have "our problems" ?

Again if BB stumbles over someone who can be a consistent upgrade he will replace Ghost without much nostalgia. But lets not pretend it is that easy to find that kicker. Looking at the rest of the league says otherwise.

It seems to me like most people are pissed they don't have someone like Tucker. Which is an absolutely absurd expectation to have.

Just saying if Bill sees a guy he really likes in the draft available in likes the 5th round, I gotta think he considers it.

Was it ever announced who was worked out?

You're what's comical. 3 of those misses were in Miami and 2 of those Miami misses were on Bailey. But why bother with facts when you can just spew like you do?

When you attempt to boil garbage down like you do, you still have garbage. If/when you can start talking context and acknowledging reality, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.
Seems like it’s you and the other Bruin who’d appreciate it and nobody else. Gost to IR. So now you were right (there’s nothing wrong all you haters!) and those of us saying he was unreliable or that something is wrong, are wrong? That’s some comedic garbage boiling you are spewing there pal. Your over-the-top reactions to mild comments from myself and others continue to amuse me. A small piece of me thinks you can’t be serious, but I guess you are.

Newsflash - you were wrong and we were right. Spin away oh unnecessarily angry young man.

Why? Gost was the 5th best PAT Kicker last year and he kicked 20 more PATs than the 1st place guy and 26 more than the 2nd place guy. And BTW the 1st place guy and the 4th place guy play in a dome. So taking that into account Gost was probably better than 5th best PAT kicker last year.

As for FG. Gost missed 5 last year which made him 19th in the league in accuracy. Mid pack. Gost also attempted 32 FGs last year. Some of the numbers of attempts of the guys ahead of him last year:
20
16
20
21
16

And, 5 of the guys ahead of Gost last year played in a dome.

So while Gost was not spectacular with his FG % he was certainly decent and a mid pack guy taking into account the number of attempts he had and the fact he kicked outdoors and I think kicked all of his games outdoors last year expect for one.

He was excellent on PAT.

But you are right. Because some chicken little pink hats here were able to ascertain that Gost was not good last year (which only an idiot would say) and that they had the foresight to predict he was going to have issues this year (which seem to be injury related) BB should have looked at other options.

Please, dont give anyone here some sort of credit for doing their usual whining and then all of a sudden being right. If you whine about everything you are going to get one right eventually.

Also, try harder to be clever/funny.

I told you before.... Belichick does not keep players based on prior years performance.

I am just glad Belichick is making the decisions and not the pats fans koolaid drinkers.

Grogan would still be our QB, if the koolaid drinkers were running the team.

This can't be a surprise to. you, though.

Of course he will. Anyone who can be reasonably upgraded will be.

People having unreasonable expectations ? No not at all. Doesn't make it any less grating though.

Once again, you miss the mark

Was it ever announced who was worked out?

That's what I want to know. I know Dan Bailey and Cairo Santos are available...

Newsflash - you were wrong and we were right. Spin away oh unnecessarily angry young man.
Actually, the injury showed you were wrong. Not much more to say about it.

This is one of those misleading statements that people attribute to BB but if you think about it for a bit it makes no sense whatsoever.

Yes, you don't keep people based on their past performance but if you completely throw that out of the window how exactly will you project their future performances when it comes to contract negotiations.

If you are seriously trying to tell me that past performance is not an indicator BB is using to come up with whatever metric he uses to determine value then I'd be extremely curious how you think he comes up with numbers.

If people ever wondered why experts say there’s a mental health crisis in America, they wouldn’t if they read some of the posts here after a 4 game winning streak to start a season.

Exactly what were you right about ?

People projecting their own failures in life.
