Patriots working out kickers

This year it got even more obvious but the Ghost apologists still denied there was any problem. Bill doesn't care what you did in the past, he asks what have you done for me lately. That Buffalo game could have been lost over the extra point. Not every game is a blowout.
Stop whining. It’s embarrassing.

Oh yes we do. Be honest and man up.You guys said there is no problem, or Baily is the problem, or kicking in Miami is the problem. There is a problem and those observers who have expressed their opinion about it have endured ridicule. You cant rewrite history. Bill sees a problem too.

Yeah, you and everyone else who panics immediately might have been as right as Kellerman about Brady. Or the morons who were calling Gilmore a bust signing. Or the idiots who wanted to trade away our "assets" last year because it clearly wasn't our year.

The "I don't care I have been saying this for so long" kind of right. The same people that always claim "this year feels different".

.That Buffalo game could have been lost over the extra point. Not every game is a blowout.

That Buffalo game could have been lost over that end zone interception. Not every game is a blowout.

I drafted Gost as my fantasy kicker this year. So I think it’s all my fault guys.

I’ll cut him this week and he won’t miss a kick the rest of the season.

why is this news?

This isn't unusual. They would even do this if Ghost was perfect.
They wouldn't waste their time if Gost was perfect. Their punter can kick in an emergency.

I dont get it. Why would Bill do this? The experts here ridiculed Ghosts critics and assured us there is no problem with the kicking game.

The problem is we have a continent of people on this board who criticize anyone for criticizing the team. If Ghost is called out, they say those people are being chicken littles. In the case of Ghost, I think it's somewhat warranted.

Again, he had a fine year last year. And maybe it was an off year and BB expected Gost to be even better. He was stellar in PAT last year and great on kickoffs. He did not have a year worth fretting about at all.

Obviously this year there is something wrong. Maybe its an injury and they need a stopgap guy until Gost has surgery. Or maybe Gost has lost it completely . Nobosy knows.

But what we do know is this. A bunch of pink hats have been saying for years that Gost isnt good when the stats say otherwise. So when the pink hats claim every year that Gost isnt good (and make fools of themselves) and then one year (this year) he isnt, they run around with their arms in the air yelling "we were right!!!" "we were right!!!!"

Ummm yeah, it dosent work that way.

Anyway, its good to see that the team is taking some action if only to light a fire under Ghost. It seemed to work with Brady when they drafted Jimmy G.

It's maddening.

He's been respectable for FGs.

He totally has the yips

There is nothing wrong with calling out Gost when it makes sense. Up until this year there really wasn't a reason and that is the main point here. And yes there are 2 types of posters.

1. The intelligent posters who look at Gosts numbers and are able to determine his performance and comparison to his peers by taking into accounts factors such as how many attempts he has compared to his peers and what environment he is kicking in compared to his peers. You know, actual football data/statistics/objective stuff.

2. The other type who just repeat over and over that Gost isnt good etc and wont listen to anyone who tries to prove he dosent and then this mob mentality develops and starts attacking the people trying to defend Gost who are looking at all of the variables.

Its funny the people who actually do research on something like this (you know, the things that make this forum great) get attacked and called homers and Gost apologists. But notice how none of these posters doing the attacking ever do any research.

Interesting...

The problem is once again that people just have to exaggerate everything to create some kind of absurd narrative about something.

He has struggled with XP this year. Yes.But this is it.

There is no "he has been inconsistent" since 2015. Just a look at his stats alone proves this notion completely wrong. He kicked on an absurd level for a stretch of about 3 years and now got back to where he was before. Which is generally speaking still better than the majority of kickers in the league.

But of course people can't just say that. No, that would not be enough. Not in 2019. Now they have to make up an entire myth about his performances stretching back seasons that is nothing more than a manifestation of their own confirmation bias. They barely register the successes but remember every failed attempt.

How about we just say it how it is. He has had issues with XPs this year. At times Bailey was completely out of sync at other times it seemed to be Ghost who screwed up. They need to fix it and given his historic success rates there is enough reason to hope he will.

If not and there is a better option we will upgrade.

No need for fancy stories.

Fan criticism of the team is boring. Analysis and evaluation are interesting. So for me, criticism just clutters up the board.

I criticise people who criticise the team from a position of expecting and demanding perfection, with an attitude of entitlement to a championship team and good players at every position, plus backups.

I think that's one possibility (an anxiety based problem), but there are others that are more likely, and it is probably a combination of small things rather than one big one.

The Ghost critics are vindicated. Some people can spot a problem developing before others. There is no shame in that.

Nope. It does not work that way. Posters (and its usually the same 6 posters) saying he was not good the last several years when he was fine dont just get to say "we were right" when he has a bad start to a year. And this could be injury related so what would that have to do with the past anyway?

That's fine but here it's the same people who go off every time someone wants to criticize Bill or the team, like clockwork. And ordinary fan criticism can be ignored and you can just focus on the threads with deeper analysis.

Well, Bill obviously is bringing kickers for a reason. And it's not just about Bailey holding, because Bsiley seems to be doing fine on FGs. I think criticism of Ghost is warranted. Every time he misses an XP it puts pressure on the team to potentially come up with a 2 point conversion. He's at the bottom of the league on PAT attempts this year. I'm not saying we should cut him, but something isn't right.

If the posters who are going after these "criticizers of BB and the Pats" are bringing facts and data to the discussion then good for them. Just saying so and so "sucks" without any context just shows that there is a contingent of posters here who are either too stupid to realize there is a lot context in numbers or performance or just too lazy to do the work.

Maybe if people thought before they spoke and diddn't just pop off every time something dosen't meet their extremely high expectations they wouldn't be embarrassed regularly.

Great, but that isnt the point. Nobody on the forum thinks they should just stand by while Gost is struggling.
