Welcome to the analysis only thread. No hot takes allowed in here. Plenty of other threads for that.

Please be civil. Feel free to critique the play or disagree, but please don't become personal or start attacking each other.

Also, this thread is not some sort of "exclusive club." Everyone is welcomed to participate, to post an analytical tweet that's relevant, or to post original analysis, or a clip from the game.

Above all, if you don't understand something, whether it be terminology or concept, etc. Please ask!

Biggest question here is, how was the offense so successfully stymied? We'll break down the game film and find out what happened along with posting thoughts and observations from various sources.

One thing I kept noticing was that Micah was always in the vicinity of Brady, or in the area of his passes. Did he have a specific role? Was he strictly a spy? We'll find out.

I have been wary facing teams with former coaches on them and I think Daboll was very instrumental in this game. The Bills knew most of the things we wanted to do on offense before the snap.

During rewatch, did they try any back shoulder passes? I didn’t remember any. Lack of personnel? Nkeal Harry being out? Seems like Gordon would have a shot at some of those. Wondering if that opportunity was there but underutilized when rewatching all 22

Where are the snap counts? I’m interested in something specifically.

Once in a while teams get to Brady enough to F up his rythm and tempo combined with a legit D at home. Coincidentally enough, the Pats just happen to have the Redskins coming up next and a good team for Brady to get back into his groove with the offense.

In its own thread for some reason.
Patriot snap counts VS Bills
Thanks. So Meyers rode the pine the entire game after the INT and I didn’t just miss him. That sheds some more light on that play. Very much looking forward to the tape review on that one.

In general, and this isn’t a hawt taek, but with Edelman injured, they need to give it to Sony more often and take the pressure off of Brady. The Bills are no joke and are basically handicapped by their QB play, so I understand that this wasn’t much of an option yesterday. Not with the way the OL was getting whipped up front. But going forward, we need to see more of that.

Even if you assume that he didn't play a single snap after the INT -- and there is absolutely no evidence that thats actually true -- he would have had only 3 snaps before. So there is literally nothing that you learn out of the snap counts in terms of the INT.

He was clearly never part of the overall gameplan.

I was about to ask about that one glacially slow-developing outside run play they tried, and it's included in this article! That was awful.

It just seemed like one of those 1-2 random games every year where McDaniels just bangs his head against the wall and refuses to adjust.

They need to stop with the outside wide zone concept because Newhouse just isn't that athletic or fast. This isn't to slam him, because he's doing fairly well for someone who was signed off the streets, but if he had the ability to do that he wouldn't have been unemployed.

I think we'll see a return to it when Wynn comes back.

I made most of these points yest multiple times during the game. Also pointed abt that Buffalo was focused, ready & firing towards everything underneath while playing C3.

I wish I was as smart as those beat writers that are worshipped here

Yesterday
Again I'll have to look when I rewatch. Running game wasnt bad. We had some success but it seemed when tried to run outside/OZ either they were too quick/ready or we weren't there. Sony did have a few nice runs, one towards the end there that might have been oz but again have to watch it again.

Uh huh. Sure. 56 snaps heading into the game. Over 25% of the offense’s snaps total. Suddenly those take a drastic dip to nada after the INT in a game when we desperately needed someone to get open. And yes, there is a way to know. After our little exchange, I made it a point to watch for him. I didn’t see him once. I used the snap counts to confirm what I was seeing. Keep clinging.

Did you think on the Brady INT, he was expecting Jakobi Meyers to break in towards the pass? I’ve been wondering about this and no one has been able to answer it any other thread. I’m wondering who you think was more responsible for that INT. The initial “take” was Brady is on the run and uncomfortable and panicked. I saw that Meyers was near the sideline. More miscommunication between those two really bums me out. Does anyone have a gif of that play and have an educated guess on what happened?

Just saw this in regards to my question. Thanks.

I’ve thought that since I saw it yesterday. Seems very obvious. The question was who was more at fault. Meyers not seeing the light of day after that play is confirming it.
