OT: How heartbreaking would it be...

He also was pretty bad during the last part of last season. Over the last 6 games of the year he had 7 TDs and 5 INTs. Before that he'd only thrown 2 picks all season.

Follow that up with two INTs in the first two games this season for 9TDs vs 7INTs over the past 8 games.

Arm strength is generally overrated but not unimportant. A certain amount of velocity is necessary. Brees has never had great arm strength and has still managed to be very successful, but...

Brees’s arm strength now (starting at the cutoff last season you referenced) appears to be significantly diminished even from his normal levels. His underthrows and inability to get the ball into small windows in 10-15 yard range has been glaring. Pumped up stats with dump offs to Kamara and throwing to Michael Thomas are keeping his reputation up.

I don’t think this is a hiccup, and I think Brees will be out by 2021 at the latest.

I’m a homer but come on dudes. This guy started the thread and guess what? Brady COULD lose both record too.

So the point you’ve repeated many times is that Brady could lose a record he doesn’t own anymore (TD passes in a season) and could lose another record he doesn’t own (career TD passes). Do you realize that this makes no sense?

The point of the OP is that Mr. Statistic King is holding on dearly to the only two shreds of blue ribbon he has left, and it would be funny if he loses them both this season.

It’s going to be great watching a guy become irrelevant who spent his career playing week 17 to break regular season records and who chased down meaningless cumulative records like a rabid dog before barfing on himself in the postseason. And all the better it will be broken by the guy who already made him a footnote in history, just nonchalantly collecting TD passes on his way to winning at an otherworldly rate and never caring about his individual accolades.

It would be icing on the cake if Mahomes goes for 56+.

In terms of the Brady/Brees thing you seem to ignore a lot of very valid points that Brady is more likely to play longer than Brees, all in the name of could happen. Like we don’t already know that nothing is guaranteed because we just such huge homers we think it’s impossible Brady will wind up with less TDs than Brees. It’s insulting that you assume everyone has their head so far up Brady’s rear end that they can’t acknowledge he could possibly retire with less TDs than Brees.

And yet should have won that game.

Really? I think he should have hit a wide open Ginn in the third quarter to put the game away, should have been intercepted on the duck pass he got lucky on when Ginn had to run backwards to catch a badly underthrown ball prior to the non-call, and should not have thrown an interception in OT to lose the game. Another person blinded by the call who overlooks just how terrible Brees was in the NFCCG.

Mahomes looks good right now, but he has remained injury free so far.. let's see how he is doing 6-7 years from now and the NFL has taken its physical toll....

As much as there seems to be worry about whether or not #12 will be in the lead, only one thing matters.. the Superbowl Trophies.

No matter how we view Brees he is already a legend in NOLA, and will be forever.. their passion for all things Saints there is admirable. Have been to about 10 Mardi Gras so far, and the one after the won the Superbowl is forever etched. He was going to be on a float, for the Bacchus Krewe I believe, he got there early and went into Tipitina's on Tchoup with Sean Payton. When the fans found out the whole end of Napolean became filled with Saints fans all wanting a glimpse of of Brees. I stood back and just said Wow, as after Katrina NOLA was pretty depressed, and along with that win NOLA had recovered..

Mahomes has roughly a two year window to win the SB. At that point he will get his $40M per year, the Chiefs draft run will not sustain, and they’ll need to deal with the normal problems of paying a superstar QB and superstar skill players like every other team (other than the Patriots.)

I’d rather Mahomes get hyped than Rodgers. To our knowledge Mahomes isn’t a stat manipulating ego douche. But I guess we don’t know that yet.

Mahomes is about to take away the Most Perfect QB Ever!!! belt from Rodgers. It was once held by Young and Marino prior to that. Holding that belt for a time doesn’t age well.
Are you thinking the pats are the only team to get a discounted qb? Eventually all of them will get big bucks. Brady has been the exception. What's Brady getting next year?

I think Brees is done after this year, especially if the Saints miss the playoffs.

Also, Brady's like 14 months older than Brees.

The thing about being on pace for the record in September, is that this is the IDEAL time to be throwing TD passes. It gets harder and harder as the year goes on, defenses gel, tape is poured over, and the temperature drops. Kansas City isn't Miami or a in a dome. It'll get harder to throw the ball, even at home there, in December.

Mahomes absolutely could break the record. He's supremely talented, and he's in the perfect system for him. But QB's almost always start out on fire in September and slow down (statistically) as the year goes on. We see it all the time.

The TD stat just counts if the last play in a TD scoring drive is thrown and not run in, right? I'd rather the team just get the points reliably than hand wring over how many were thrown vs. run.

The more interesting question is what if Bridgewater starts getting hot? Does Brees even get his job back this year?

How do you bench a promising 26 year old QB for a 40 year old QB who can't throw down field anymore?

Chiefs have already been on record talking about the 40s.

I’ll be honest, and you can look at my posts, I defend Brady and the pats to a fault. All I am saying is Brady might loose both record too.

You assholea can’t step back for a moment and think objectively because he can loose them both.
Calling people aholes when you can't even spell "lose".

Fk off dude.

For The Forehead to lose the all time and single season TD record in the same season?

Brady will catch him for the all time later this season and Mahomes is on pace to be close for the single season.

How glorious would that be?

I so hope it happens.
Not nearly as glorious as #7!!!

Was it Manning's HGH season when he did that? ( I mean his wife's HGH).

Happy wife, happy life.

Manning was very happy when his wife took HGH; he set the single season TD record.

When his wife stopped her HGH, Manning became a noodle arm.

I think we've all learned how important it is to keep our wives happy. :)

Only 2 more games until Brady passes Manning and Favre for 2nd all time in regular season yards, behind Brees. Hopefully they don’t rush Brees back and use an abundance of caution, so TB can close the gap. With Ben out and Eli done, Rivers will likely emerge as top stat hog from that draft trio, then there is Rodgers who has no chance, and real threat if he keeps a job long enough, the ever so average, Stat Ryan. Maybe Stafford down the line too, if he can stay employed long enough...Mahommes is too far off at this point to discuss.

That's fine.. doesn't mean the chiefs will suck

There’s a difference between suck and not being a real SB contenders at the least a much bigger long shot to win it. Look what’s happened to the Packers since they’ve paid market for Rodgers, Adams, and other offensive weapons, or the Seahawks with Wilson. Holes everywhere else.

This happens to almost every team, which is why the Cowboys know they have roughly one year before Dak neutralizes his value.

Patriots save some money with Brady, but what’s overlooked is their thrifty spending at skill positions. James White and Rex Burkhead combined make about half of what Le’Veon Bell makes. Edelman, Gordon, and Dorsett are great values. The out-of-character Brown disaster aside, they’ve spent wisely. The Chiefs have already paid Hill and Kielce big and with Mahomes will probably be spending double what the Patriots are spending for QB and 2-3 best skill players
