Anyone else glad to see Dorsett, Harry and Meyers get more touches now?

Look they might be decent/good players but we talk a Moss level receiver here. A bona fide HOF WR. The window on Brady and his dynasty is closing so honestly I couldn't care less how they develop these 3 guys into a next big thing at best. A healthy integrated Brown would've massively increased the chances of 7.

I still think this can be a great offense but adding Brown to this Patriots team was like adding KD to the Warriors. Not necessary but oh boy the league would've been screwed.

PS: I'm just talking about the football player Brown not the idiot himself

I admit that I wanted to see what Brady could do with such a superior talent. When I think back to his last few drives against KC when 2 of his main targets were Hogan and Patterson it never ceases to amaze me what he is able to accomplish. Yes he also had Edelman and a banged up Gronk but I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do with someone who did not need scheme to be successful. Someone who could run any route and take the top off. The Pats had finally added that dynamic element to their normal methodical approach and I was looking forward to seeing it. They'll be fine and I am hopeful Myers turns into a healthy version of Malcolm Mitchell but it will be different than what could have been.

Harry...... musclebound WR already dealing with significant muscle issue.
This weight room junkie needs a TB12 overhaul

I think the Boston media’s relentless witch trial going on the entire time he was here really expedited his release....would have at least liked to have seen it play out and let him have his day in a fair court....

Hopefully he doesn’t end up on KC or Baltimore once cleared.....GO PATS!

It wasn't just Boston, it was nationwide, including the NFL itself, and you will never convince me that it was mere coincidence that everything was outed, and started snowballing the minute he signed with the Patriots. It was quite frankly sabotage.

Yes, he was an *******, and by all appearances was trying to change that, but to be put into the "one strike and you're out" territory so fast, was just setting him up to fail. Nobody changes overnight, except through trail and error and by growing.

I guess it was just too good to be true, but we all have to move on.

It is what it is. Going to need contributions from everyone. As for AB, of course him being in our line up would've been a nightmare for opposing DCs. Idea wasn't to give Pats nightmares.

I don’t think it was totally motivated by malice. Reading Klemko’s story in SI (linked below) it was inevitable it would hit the fan. Timing may have been accelerated by the NE signing, but this was all going to come out eventually. AB signing with the high profile Patriots may have been like throwing a match into a pool of gasoline, as far as timing, maybe motivated the lawsuit being filed instead of more negotiations, but that’s the snowball effect not outright sabotage.

...

To return to the OP's question, I'm not happy. Mostly, I feel angry at AB for being such a ****ty human.
I don’t feel angry at him as much as sorry for him. His childhood was pretty rough from the sounds of it. Homeless, crashing on coaches’ couches is not the way to grow up as a psychologically healthy well adjusted human. Add the possibility that his increasingly bizarre behavior is at least partially caused by CTE. He’s a mess, and now his life is in the middle of turning into a train wreck. He’s done some bad things, and bears responsibility for them, but I can’t get angry over the tragedy, just sad. Plus I worry about how it will play out. Whatever caused him to be throwing furniture out the high-rise window is nothing compared to this. What’s he going to do next? I hope he finds help somewhere somehow, for the sake of those around him at least.

Come to think of it, two teams in a row, cutting bait with one of, if not the best receiver in the NFL and he suddenly became available to the Patriots- yeah, there had to be a catch to it, one way or another.

But, man... if it had actually worked out... well, I should probably get past the grieving stage.

I guess you would say Meyers is a "binkie" of mine so I am excited with the possibility of him seeing more action. But we have a solid group with Edelman, Gordon, and Dorsett. Not to mention, this will get White and Burkhead more involved in the passing game. I imagine we will see more of Michel too and maybe see his receiving skills. If I recall, he was a decent pass catcher at Georgia too. Finally, we could also see Gunner getting some reps out of the slot too like in the preseason.

I was relieved when AB was released today. I think we have more than enough weapons and personally I would like to see guys like Dorsett, Harry and Meyers get the touches instead. They are the future, not some nutjob on the tail end of his career.

Dorsett has been getting better every game and he is so reliable, I’d love to see him get some more action. He is becoming one of my favorite players, he’s almost Amendola like in his ability to come up with clutch catches. He seems like a good guy too.

I’m dying to see what the youngsters Harry and Meyers can do, I think they both have some amazing potential and I think with the vets picking up most of the workload they’ll be allowed to develop without being held back and without being under pressure to immediately produce.

Sure AB was a HOFer but I think we have enough with Edelman, Gordon and Dorsett and then sprinkle in whatever the young guys can contribute. All AB would have done is ******ed the development of younger guys who are part of the present and more importantly the future.

I’m glad he’s gone. And I know some will say I’m just being overly optimistic but even when we got him I was a little sad thinking of the touches that would be lost by guys like Dorsett who frankly deserve it more.
I agree with you 100%. Often times in team sports, less is more. And I believe in this case, the Pats are a better team without AB

All I know is that @robertweathers and I are just elated that Dorsett is still on the team. :D

It would've been nice if he didnt implode and we could have him but it was a luxury. Lets not forget how unstoppable the offense looked game 1 WITHOUT him.

In miami, both Dorsett and Gordon took a step back

I really think Gordon will step up and have an over 1k yard season. And Dorsett is looking to have a breakout year after 2 games

In game 1 he was lights out, but in game 2 he seemed to take a step back because of brown's addition.

Really good post here....Dorsett Meyers and Harry are decent receivers.....but Brown is a legendary wide receiver. Unfortunately he’s also a legendary ahole and even if he isn’t guilty of these charges ....he continues to do stupid things that distract or disrupt a football team. That having been said, ALL his teammates seemed to love having the guy there and he was motivated to play and practice...AND the Patriots offense is definitely much more powerful and dangerous with Brown on the field , than Dorsett and Meyers combined out there....the guy is an amazing talent and OC spend hours trying to figure out how to stop the guy....so we will definitely miss that....I think the Boston media’s relentless witch trial going on the entire time he was here really expedited his release....would have at least liked to have seen it play out and let him have his day in a fair court....

Hopefully he doesn’t end up on KC or Baltimore once cleared.....GO PATS!

He forfeited his “ day in court” when he tried to bully the accuser with his texting. He’s a piece of sh.t and I hope he never plays again.

I expect Harry to come off of IR, which should give them another big red zone target who should hopefully be back up to speed by the postseason. Losing Gordon would be a hard blow to the offense before then, though. I like Dorsett’s progression and Brady obviously trusts him. It just sucks that they pulled the trigger on the DT trade to the Jets and the first news of AB broke 24 hours later. What **** timing. I’ll leave the debate over whether he should have been traded in the first place up to others, but the timing on that was about as bad as it can get for the Pats.

Yeah that's the only thing that sucks in all of this. We not only list AB but also Thomas.

But then again, does thomas have anything left in the tank? He looked good in preseason game 4. But had -1 yards for the jets and is injured again and likely out this week

Belichick did this to make all you WR diva lovers shut up and get with the low-cost 5'9" quick receiver program.

So enough with the AB crap and go say you're sorry for cheating on your bromance with Edelman, Branch, Welker, Patten, Faulk, Amendola, Cooks, Gaffney, etc, etc.

In your heart you know Belichick is right.

I think it just became more of a distraction than it was worth. At some point you have to weigh that out over the potential benefit of letting this whole thing play out. BB got fed up with it at a presser before it happened. That was a signal for what was about to come.

The combination of selfishness, inability to show restraint, and a predisposition to f*ck-over everyone you make contact with compels me to believe this guy will have a crash landing of epic proportion that has nothing to do with football.
An Antoine Walker-like bankruptcy?
An AHern & posse street justice gone bad?
An OJ meltdown?

It seems inevitable

Oh he will definitely go tits-up, financially. There is no question about that. I’d bet it will happen within 5 years or so after his playing days are over.
