How does the 2019 team NOW compare to the 2007 team?

You can't play defense better than we have so far. Yes I wouldn't mind if our secondary had a few more interceptions but c'mon 3 points lol. So far I would take this team for the defense alone. Offensively, this year's offense seems off. I really expected our running game to be better but whatever.

That's hyperbole, right?

we lead the league in interceptions.

2015 is the cautionary tale. That team was absolutely stacked. There was chatter about 16-0 and I believe they were up there with 2007’s offense according to advanced stats like DVOA, until Lewis, Edelman, Blount, Solder, Develin, and Hightower got injured to various degrees, greatly effecting the team. Injuries can really play a huge factor. They started 10-0 and scored 27+ points games 1-9, and then the wheels started to wobble. The 2014 and 2016 teams were magnificent, but I think 2015 was better if it weren’t for the injuries...that was arguably their best team on paper of the 2010s.

Yeah, that team was stacked but was decimated by injuries. I still consider the 2015 AFGCG as one of Gronks and Bradys greatest game.

Crazy to think that team was a missed XP/2pt conversion from going to OT and possibly the Super Bowl. Such a good team.

There was also the injury (not season-ending but I'm sure debilitating nonetheless) to Vollmer during the OT fiasco at the Jete late in the year...Waddle had recently been claimed off waivers from Detroit, and he was lost for the season during the same game, IIRC...I remember saying at the pub that we had now reached Critical Mass regarding injuries...still, if Chris Harper had never been born, I'll always believe that there was No Feckin Way that the corpse of Payaton beats us in Foxborough ...don't know what would've happened in the SB however...

Yes and greed on my part. I don't view our corners as ball hawks. Stats don't really back up the feeling. For example I feel an interception is imminent whenever a team attempts a deep pass in the vicinity of Harmon or McCourty.

With that said, I wouldn't trade our defense right now for any other.

are the offense scoring pionts numbers handy?

Through 6 games:

2007 Patriots - 230 points

2019 Patriots - 190 points
